Also, keep in mind that there are works that we don't want flagged without a really good reason as they are not likely in violation of policy:
- Is a film rated below "R" for U.S. distribution.
- Is a show that can be aired on prime time television.
- Is a video game that is rated below "M" by the ESRB.
- Is a written work that is sold in major bookstores without an "adult" or "mature" label.
- Is an anime/manga/etc. that is approved for U.S. import as a non-adult work.
- Is read/shown/taught in high school or below.
- Is in another format and meets equivalent criteria.
What we're looking for:
- Pure porn, or porn with an Excuse Plot only,
- Anything that has explicit underage sex,
- Implied sex of preteens or younger, and
- Fanservice intended to cater to pedophiles (lolicon and shotacon fanservice can count).
A couple of guidelines so the procedure can move smoothly:
- Do not list whole indexes or works just because they are on a certain index or have lolicon, H-Game or shotacon on their trope list.
- Do not list works you know nothing about without at least reading the trope page.
- Do not list works that you know are G-rated but you find creepy.
- If it's paedophile-pandering approximately how old are the characters involved? What happens? Is it graphic? Is it merely implied?
- List what objectionable content there is, and how much of the work consists of that.
- If it's entirely sex, say so. People have different ideas of what porn is. We all have the same idea of what a work being entirely sex scenes is.
- If you're not sure about a work, say so, or ask someone who does know that work. But don't make blanket accusations. Post here: "I don't know about this work, but the page says X".
- Google and Wikipedia are your friendsnote . Do a little digging on works you aren't sure about.
Also, in the case of H Games, there is this questioning to fill up:
- When are the sex scenes located?
- Are they spread out over the game?
- How much gameplay is there between sex scenes?
- Are they only at the endings?
- How hard do you have to work to get an ending?
- Are they in every ending? Every good ending?
- Are the sex scenes optional via a choice in the menu?
- Would the story make sense without them with minimal or no rewriting?
- Are the scenes made up of stills, or are they animated?
- How explicit are the sex scenes?
- This isn't a headcount. Your opinion is only considered if it explains in at least some detail how you came to the conclusion that the work is/isn't porn/paedopandering.
- When a moderator determines that the discussion has yielded a consensus, they can enact its conclusion/ask a moderator to enact the conclusion.
- The discussion is only about whether the work qualifies as porn or as paedopandering. We don't assess anything else in this process.

Q: Why is this happening?
A: Concerning the porn, it tends to attract creepy edits that have brought us into issues with the adservers while not significantly contributing to our core purpose - tropology. Concerning paedophilia-pandering, such works are just plain creepy to have pages about.
Q: What can I do to help clean the site?
A: You can flag content as unsuitable using the flag tool, which is located in the Tools menu to the right of each article, keeping the criteria in mind. Also, you can help enforce No Lewdness, No Prudishness across the wiki, possibly though cleaning pages listed in this Long Term Projects thread.
Q. This episodic work isn't finished yet. Shouldn't we wait for the ending before discussing it?
A. No. If released instalments may violate the content policy, we want to take action as soon as that's established — we don't need to wait for the ending. We can always revisit a decision to cut or keep once the work is over, but that point might still be years or decades away.
Q: This work is not actually/primarily pornographic. Why was it cut?
A: This could be for a number of different reasons. If the work was deemed to be paedopandering, for example, it will be cut whether or not it's actually sexually explicit. Being pro-paedophilia or pandering to paedophiles is bad enough, even if the work is nominally anti-paedophilia. Of course, it's possible that there was a mistake and then you should appeal it - please check the reasons first, however.
Q: This work is being/has been cut, but it is not a violation of the Content Policy. How do I make an appeal?
A: Flag the work page using the button in the sidebar and state your reasons for restoration.
Q: This work is pretty much pure porn, but it's really good porn. Can an exception be made?
A: Nope, sorry. If it's mainly porn, it goes.
Q: Why would you cut this? In [culture x], it is totally acceptable.
A: The vast majority of our readers come from the Americas or Western Europe, so we will be adhering to what could broadly be termed "Western" standards. This means we will not be permitting works which sexualize 12 year olds, and nor will we be demanding that every picture of a woman on the site must wear a burqa.
Q: How can you possibly claim to know authorial intent? (Roland Barthes is my co-pilot.)
A: It is not important what the authorial intent was, only the outcome.
Q: Wikipedia have articles on all kinds of awful stuff. Why can't we do the same?
A: Wikipedia is a strictly academic site. They have to cite sources and a "no censorship rule". They also do not aim to be Family Friendly, and are not reliant upon third party ads for funding. Conversely, one of our stated aims is to celebrate fiction, and our generally light, non-negative tone is a reflection of this, which has led to much more gushing about inappropiate content.
Q: So should I take every article here as an endorsement of whatever it describes?
A: No, of course not. We have pages on Greedy Jew, Adolf Hitler and Mein Kampf after all. However, if we choose to focus our attention on schoolgirls' thighs or porn, it does reflect very poorly on us. Fan Fic Recommendations are a slightly different issue. If a work is recommended there, this should be taken as an endorsement by the troper who wrote it.
Q: Are we allowed to make forum threads about works processed by the Content Violation Discussions forum?
A: If it was voted "clean and keep", a forum thread is relatively safe as long as it is restricted to talking about the clean parts. Anything with a stronger judgement is discouraged on the forums.
Q: Where can I find decisions regarding a work?
A: They are linked from the discussion page. Sometimes the old list of content reviews or the thread list in this forum can help as well.
Q: I still have some questions/concerns.
A: We will be happy to answer them. There is a thread for this.

- 5P or P5: The panel that administered the policy prior to the review system being overhauled in 2022. See 5P.
- P(a)edoshit: Older term for "P(a)edopandering", deprecated for being inflammatory.
- Porn: A work mostly concerned with sexual arousal. Having NSFW or explicit scenes doesn't automatically make a work porn — it's when showcasing explicit scenes is the entire point of the work.

Quotes pages aren't on sufferance like Real Life sections, but if it's becoming a problem, then suggest that the quotes page be cut-and-locked in TRS.
I frankly have no idea what the hell is going on here, but I thought I should mention it. (If this isn't the right thread my apologies, but the page has already been cut - I'm more just puzzled/worried by the behavior).

There's a commented note at the top of School Days saying not to add tropes regarding Summer Days or Shiny Days due to site policy regarding underage content, but Shiny Days has a page. The Shiny Days page says underage sex scenes were removed from the English version, but JAST USA released a patch to uncensor the content, though Wikipedia makes no mention of such a patch.

Would Chiller be allowed under the content policy? It's an old Light Gun Game that's basically pure Torture Porn with the player as the torturer. I created a few red links to it, but later removed them because I'm not sure it's allowed.

Extreme violence doesn't really get an eye-bat here, especially in a video game. The only things that would cause concern is if it were pornographic or fetishized violence against women and/or children.

The play-through that I saw on YouTube had one instance of a topless woman coming out of a grave, but it's an 80s-era game so the graphics are very primitive. By the standards of the time it was released, it was probably quite shocking; by today's standards, it's cheesy and rather lame and you would have to be very sensitive to violence to think it was truly horrific.

The graphics may be primitive, but the player torturing defenseless people like that is shocking even by today's standards. Though we have pages on Postal, Hatred, and Super Columbine Massacre RPG!, which I think are comparable in concept.

The fact that it's the player doing it without justification is shocking, IMO. And "graphic" isn't exactly the same as "shocking". The unlicensed NES port tried to justify it by claiming they were undead monsters.

Im actually getting the general idea that you specifically seem to be trying to find a reason for why this violates content discussions when it doesn't.
Iv'e read/ watched plenty of works with extreme violence and this sounds really tame. Your arguments are bizarre too as its a 16 bit game with far less violence than some of the works here and no shocking doesn't make something more graphic. That and we have plenty of works where the protagonist kill innocent people anyway. So whats the problem exactly?

I thought along the same lines as us allowing some Porn with Plot works if the work is not primarily meant to titillate but not Porn Without Plot. But since almost everyone seems to be OK with it, I'll assume it's allowed. If doesn't have enough tropable content, then it would be cut for being a stub, not for Content Policy reasons.
Berserk Button: misusing Nightmare Fuel
Let's see if I can think up of the three minimum tropes to give it a page:
- Bowdlerize: The NES version softens the implications of shooting innocent people by claiming that they're actually zombies.
- Cold-Blooded Torture: The first two levels are set in a dungeon where you can operate various torture implements.
- Gorn: Shooting the victims results in detailed injuries: you can shoot them to shreds one bit at a time, or activate the torture devices they're in.
- Gotta Catch 'Em All: You have to find the secret items hidden in the level to play the slot machine game. Finding them all in each level lets you play the bonus round and earn a free game.
- Mini-Game: You can play a slot machine game if you find all of the secret items in a level.
- Reverse Cerebus Syndrome: The first two levels have you brutally torturing people for no reason, while the final two are generic monster-shooting escapades.
- Rivers of Blood: One can be seen in the background of level 2.
And for the Trivia page:
- Rated M for Money: The extreme gore in the first two levels were meant to catch the attention of violence-obsessed teens.
And that's just off the top of my head. So that's more than enough tropes to make Chiller a sufficiently lengthy page.

Porn with Plot in general has received a pass ever since Fast Eddie stepped down. About the only thing we cut for is either pedo material or completely plotless lemons.

We have a page on the eroge Castle Fantasia 2 Renewal, the Updated Re-release of the second game in the series, but not the vanilla version of the game nor the first game. Is it because other games in the series violate the content policy, or because that's the only one to receive a Fan Translation? Nobody answered my question above about Shiny Days, either.

The fanfic reccomendation page said to consult here for appeals about NSFW fanfictions so here I am! May I inquire about 'pump your veins with gushing gold' by callmearcturus on AO 3? It's an great story with an excellent plot. Only it is explicit, due to one of the characters being recasted as a nyphmomanic. The sex is not the only part of the story, but it is still very prevalent and talked about in most chapters. Would it be okay to add 'pump your veins with gushing gold'?

This example on BadassAdorable.Western Animation has an unhealthy focus on a teenage girl's breasts (and the trope is about "cute" characters, not "sexy" characters anyway):
- Ty Lee is a hot, cheerful and bubbly, well-endowed teen babe who uses her enormous...strength to beat grown men to death with her bare hands. She easily downs powerful benders, even though she has no such power, and does it while filling out a shirt like no sanely-drawn woman should.

Yeah, that's gushing. I'd say edit as you please, as the character does fit the trope regardless of gushing. Though this is probably a question better suited for either the trope repair shop or the series thread?

I've edited it to remove the uncomfortable gushing and add more context about her abilities. I don't really think it was necessary to start a TRS thread for just one example, and I don't think the Avatar: The Last Airbender thread would fit either since the page in question isn't about that show.
No need to make a thread to fix sexualized gushing, just fix it. If someone complains, use the normal dispute resolution processes.
Or as The Other Wiki says, be bold.

According to Example Sectionectomy, Jump Scare had its examples purged for being NSFW, which I don't think it is, since even some kid-friendly works use the trope occasionally. Even the excuse on the trope page itself seems kind of flimsy, since there are plenty of work pages that include the trope with no complaint. Plus, if you see a video link for a trope named "Jump Scare", you should know exactly what to expect.
Okay so I've posted this elsewhere but been informed that it's better to get discussion over here on the topic.
Looking over the Ephebophile trope page, I seriously wonder what it is contributing to the site. As far as I can tell, it's had its trope examples purged and locked, but it's still getting all kinds of really nasty and gross quotes posted up there. Stuff about underage girls being raped from roleplays and sexual horror games. It's bad.
At this stage, all the page really does is describe what an ephebophile is, though the definition feels kind of weird in how defensively it dissociates itself from pedophile. If people want to know what an Ephebophile is, they can look it up on Wikipedia.
I reckon we could stand to do away with the whole trope page, but at the very least something should be done about the quotes.
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?
