This thread is for general discussion of page quotes, whether to change, move or remove them.
Unused quotes should be put on a Quotes Wiki page (just replace the namespace in the URL of the wiki page you are making a quotes page for with Quotes/) or, if they don't have an article, on Quotes Looking for an Article.
Image captions are discussed elsewhere and have their own thread in the Image Pickin' forum.

It's extremely similar to the page image. Not sure if that's a plus or minus.
Still looking for better Captain Obvious quotes. Again, the current quote doesn't even fit the trope. It's about disbelief at a guy not dying, and from a fan translation.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Dangerously Short Skirt has a so-so quote, though I'm not finding anything better. But I'm thinking the last line needs to be cut as irrelevant. Thoughts?
My alignment is Chaotic Cute.Dangerously Short Skirt: Unless Action Girl isn't a requirement for the trope, that line has to stay.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanHeart Is an Awesome Power: I like having a page quote that is not related to either Captain Planet or Aquaman.
The last on the quotes page is a suitable alternative. There's also another quote from Megatokyo that could work, but it replaces 1337sp34k with broken English: "Ninja live by code of honor. Magical girl live by code of love. This lead to many disaster and much destruction of urban area. Honor much safer."
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableThe description is... unclear. It says "where Action Girls wear short, above-the-knees skirts" but also "Being an Action Girl is an added bonus, and a common subversion is to have her as a Faux Action Girl or a Neutral Female."
It's a toss-up.
My alignment is Chaotic Cute. But the page description For Heart Is... Says that Magical Girls rarely fall into this trope because in the Magical Girl genre, "Heart" is virtually always accepted from the outset as not only awesome but probably the strongest power possible.
The trope is not specifically about Heart as a power; it's about a seemingly weak power that has ramifications that make it much stronger if the user wants to use it that way. Making the page quote about Heart and Magical Girls is confusing.
Dangerously Short Skirt, well, if the requirement that they be Action Girls is not necessary, then what we really have is "Girls wear short skirts." which is not a trope.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Ah, that's true.
I like the final quote, then.
->If anything, this situation is very illuminating, in terms of how bad some parahumans might be in a worst case scenario. There are some powers that are tame at first glance, but utterly disastrous if left unchecked.
—>—Miss Militia, Worm
I like that.
Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry PratchettGot two quotes on Improbably Low I.Q.. I'm in favor of axing the top quote and keeping the second (since the top quote has no real context, while the second shows it's a comical usage of the trope).
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)Agreed, although the first could go to the quotes page rather than be axed outright.
Everyone Is Satan in Hell: I don't know what this quote is even about.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Heart: I like that quote from Worm a lot. I'd even go so far as to say it's perfect.
IQ: Keep the second on the page, move the first to the Quotes tab.
Satan: The trope is "Some Moral Guardians are so paranoid that they'll attack the most ridiculous things, or will attack them in the most ridiculous ways possible." The quote is Harold Hill stirring up the fears of the River City parents over a pool table. I think there might be another line from the same song that's better, though.
Maybe this section:
Well, either you're closing your eyes to a situation you do not wish to acknowledge, or you are not aware of the caliber of disaster indicated by the presence of a pool table in your community.
Ya got trouble, right here in River City!
With a capital "T", and that rhymes with "P"
And that stands for Pool!
- Everyone Is Satan in Hell: Don't see the relevance of the current. I would be fine with tossing it.
- Heart Is an Awesome Power: I'll thumb the Worm quote up, now.
- Improbably Low I.Q.: Second quote.
The Improbably Low I.Q. quote issue is dealt with, as per the suggestions.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)I'm posting here to ask for quick clarification. Should all page quotes be discussed in this thread before unilateral replacement (analogous to Image Picking), or can editors change them as they see fit? Should replaced quotes be added to the quotes section of a page if they are at least somewhat applicable?
I'm mainly asking in reference to this page (yes, I added the old quote back in the day). I'm not primarily interested in debating the relative merits of the two quotes, but rather the nature of wiki policy, and no admin pages I could find directly address the issue.
I think it's much the same as the IP threads, though with less consensus required, as there's only one thread and no crowner. /non-mod

Usually putting in the original quote is not a problem, as long as it applies. To change the quote, it's often discussed here. It helps to make sure it applies, and it avoids the occasional 'one person changed it by themselves and that's not fair' person (who might very well be someone who got their quote replaced ).
A lot of the discussion is does the current quote fit, should it be replaced at all, which replacement quote works best, dealing with quotes that are really big chunks (will an excerpt do or does it need a complete swap?), and avoiding in-jokey quotes that make little sense unless the person is familiar with the relevant work.
It also helps show teamwork/consensus in coming to decisions about a fairly noticeable aspect of the articles.
The only really hard and fast rule is no potholes in quotes.
Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry PratchettDirty Communists has two quotes, going to suggest we keep the top one.

New theme music also a box^ Agreed, and remove the potholes. Quotes aren't supposed to be potholed, even if most of them are.
All your safe space are belong to TrumpThey weren't good potholes, even. They were all sinkholes. They'[re gone now.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Also agree on keeping the first quote for Dirty Communists.
Retroactively agree with the Dirty Communists decision.
On quote changes, I personally think that we can afford thread-independent action.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanBoth Awesomeness Is Volatile and Apocalypse Wow have the same quote. I think the latter trope can keep it, as there are plenty of mentions of the other trope to use as a quote.
- "Holy shit, I think my testicles just exploded from the awesomeness!"
- "WARNING: What follows is the most awesome thing ever recorded on film. Your head may explode."
Crown Description:
What should be the page quote for Monster.Fan Works?
I like the Linkara quote on the trope page, in part because it doesn't talk about "hearts".
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman
