General Page Quote Discussion:

Go To

This thread is for general discussion of page quotes, whether to change, move or remove them.

Unused quotes should be put on a Quotes Wiki page (just replace the namespace in the URL of the wiki page you are making a quotes page for with Quotes/) or, if they don't have an article, on Quotes Looking for an Article.

Image captions are discussed elsewhere and have their own thread in the Image Pickin' forum.

You Wanna Get Sued? has two quotes which is weird since it has a quotes page. I say we keep the trope namer in there.

Sleazy Politician: I like the first quote better, because it's more directly-to-the-point regarding the trope.

You Wanna Get Sued?: I actually like the Game of Gods quote from the quotes page best. I generally prefer not to have the page namer also be the quote, to avoid redundancy (plus, that quote's confusing if you're not familiar with The Shining), and the second quote is entirely unclear about the reasons for the censoring.

[up] Sleazy Politician quote then. I'll also fix the You Wanna Get Sued? quote.

Made the Sleazy Politician quotes page.

The Penance has a pretty lengthy quote that's longer than description itself. Should it be shortened somehow or should there be a new one?

I do not even see how it's relevant. Cull it.

Way too long, although it's one of the page examples, of the "imposed" variety. Kill it.

The quote for Creepy Gas-Station Attendant is a tad on the long side. It's a good summary of this trope, but it's the same size as the actual description.

Problematic, or no?

Too long. We can probably cut the beginning off, since it's just talking about Real Life.

Checkpoint Starvation has two quotes. Which one should we keep?

[up] I'd be good with either, although I lean toward the latter.

I tend towards the second, since it has a rhyme and the first is a bit indirect.

Although the forced rhyme in the second one made me wince, I think it is a clearer quote for the page.

Leaning to the second one too.

That page has come here before. The first quote was chosen by the consensus of this thread, and it's certainly still the better one. The second quote can be moved to the quotes page.
