Twenty five posts between it, but you define those people as "realistic"? They are noodles in every since of the word.
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackThe body type can exist in real life. [1]◊
[2]◊[3]◊[4]◊[5]◊ Thin noodle like limbs, thin body. The Anime Thin Bishounen / Romance Art Style for Shojo works or Ho Yay works, are contrasted by Puni Plush [6]◊ [7]◊ [8]◊ which is rounded features [9]◊ stubby fingers the Moe Art Style used in Lez Yay and aimed at Otaku.
While Type 1 cant be contrasted with anything and just stands on its own as something completely different and looks completely different.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!9 and 4 are about the only ones that are really noodle thin and no, that neck to head ratio is far from realistic(To say nothing of the faces.
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackYeah, Raso's noodle people aren't noodle people. 4 is borderline, but that's about the fattest you can be for this trope. It's not a realistic body type.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickThats the trope though the Code Geass character designs were done by Clamp who's work is the source of the trope name The trope namer◊[1]◊[2]◊ and Code Geass is worse at times than the trope namer, (The thin style carried over into Sunrise's next work after Code Geass, Gundam 00), Then there is the others like Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei◊ [3]◊ They are all examples of Type 2.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Just because CLAMP did them doesn't make them noodle people. XXX Holic has noodle people, I agree, but not all CLAMP work does. And it's not the trope namer. It's far too young. The article is wrong. It happens sometimes when people don't realise that a term exists until it hits their fandom.

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickCode Geass characters are Noodle People. Raso example images were bad, I agree, but their "noodleness" become clearer in the show itself. Look that official art◊ for a better example.
I agree that not all CLAMP works necessarily have Noodle People, but I think that the Code Geass character designs should definitely count.
I could support a possible hard split or soft split of Noodle People in order to better distinguish between Noodle People as a counterpart to Puni Plush and such. I think the purpose of using such an art style is significantly different from the purpose of using a somewhat similar art style in gothic art.
I am not quite sure what options people want, so I made a blank page action crowner here.
"irhgT nm0w tehre might b ea lotof th1nmgs i dont udarstannd, ubt oim ujst goinjg to keepfollowing this pazth i belieove iN !!!!!1 dOk, those look like noodle people. The images Raso showed did not. I suppose I should know by now that anime art is often drawn wildly inconsistently. Still, if you want to show an example use an image that actually shows it.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickCan we not have an edit war over trope namer? Clamp vs Johnny whatever seriously probably should just remove all Trope Namer stuff from the page.
Or just say Clamp works (the actual work that the name was taken from for the trope.) or Johnny something (used the name first.)
Edit: why is there a blank crowner attached anyway?

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!This page still has a blank crowner. Can someone fix it?

Fight smart, not fair.No one's touched this in a month. Call it stale?
I always ALWAYS thought that the term Noodle People was for Jhonen Vasquez/Tim Burton-inspired works, and let's be honest here: even though CLAMP has been around since the 90's, the term was not coined by their (Anglophone) fanbase back then, it would have been coined by fans of JTHM. The word "noodle" is thrown around in Vasquez's works, and the term fits his style better than it fits CLAMP's. I feel like if it IS split, it should be Anime Thin for thinner-than-average anime stuff and Noodle People for the skinny gothicky style. One Step Above Stick Figures sounds a bit insulting to the style because there IS detail and perspective present.
[The rest was unintelligible.]I would say it goes back farther, to Edward Gorey (who was probably an influence on Burton, and maybe on Vasquez as well). The first time I saw Xxx HO Li C, my immediate reaction was "wow, a Gorey-style anime!"
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee. The style was invented by Gorey as seen here◊. The name was given to the style by Vasquez in his books before CLAMP started releasing stuff in the west. The fact that anime fans picked up the name came from crossover between the two fan bases.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickCalling this very old crowner, let's resolve it.
Reopened by request, but clocking.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.Tagged the article. Apparently, when something is unlocked, you have to hit "Save" in the tag to make the tag appear.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanOK, so: I'm assuming we're gonna implement the change chosen in the crowner. Anyone who objects to that, speak now. I'm a bit tied up today, I'll try to throw together a draft for the new description in a day or two; suggestions welcome.
Calling someone a pedant is an automatic Insult Backfire. Real pedants will be flattered.OK, here's a draft description:
This tends to take one of two main forms:
- One step up from stick figures, where the torso has some thickness and heads and extremities have more realistic detail, but the arms and legs are essentially lines. This seems to be rather popular in gothic and emo art, and may apply to all the characters, or just one or two. Example: Jack Skeleton from The Nightmare Before Christmas.
- A style based on fashion illustration, where the characters are impossibly slender and long-limbed, but otherwise have more-or-less normal anatomy and musculature. Especially common in josei manga. More likely to apply to the entire cast (or at least the attractive characters). Often overlaps with bishounen and/or bishoujo. Example: Doumeki and Watanuki from XxxHOLiC.
Has nothing to do with incidents or implements. Contrast with Puni Plush.
Comments? If there are no comments or objections, I'll swap this out Sunday or so.

Calling someone a pedant is an automatic Insult Backfire. Real pedants will be flattered. The other big standout of A&M Noodle People is sharp pointy features lots of geometric like angles especially in the shapes of faces elbow and knees. Directly contrasted by Puni Plush's round features.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!A thin design gives sharper angles by nature, though.
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.
Crown Description:
What would be the best way to fix the page?
When this trope is used in Goth it tends to be used to be aesthetically pleasing and pretty. You may not find it so, but that is often it's intent. Goth just has odd ideas of pretty.
