The Music Freaks is a Web Series made with assets from Gacha Life and Gacha Club. It was created by YouTuber RosyClozy.

Jake is a high school student who, along with his friends, bullies the Music Club. However, Jake has a big skeleton in his closet- he himself is incredibly passionate about singing. One day, his crush, Daisy, overhears him singing and convinces him to join the music club. The series focuses on Jake and the rest of the music club’s friendships, romances and drama leading up to the competition.

As of July 15, 2023, all eleven episodes of Season 1 can be found here.

The Music Freaks contains examples of:

  • Animation Bump: From episode 5 and onwards, the characters go through a redesign and are animated more fluidly. This is due to the release of Gacha Club.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: Delivered by Zander in episode 2. Jake is arguing with him, insisting that he really does have a passion for music. Zander asks “then why have you talked down on us for so long?”.
  • The Atoner: Downplayed with Jake. He used to be part of a Gang of Bullies who were mean to Zander and Hailey, but after joining the Music club, he tries to make it up to them, even getting them support from the entire school.
  • Ambiguously Bi:
    • This short animation shows Liam flirting with Henry and almost “kissing”. However if this is a canon event that has happened isn’t confirmed.
    • Drew’s implied to have a crush on Jake, by both context clues and other characters. Henry teased him on this during episode 5 in which a blushing Drew dismisses the comment.
Henry: Don't look so blue, Drew. I know it must be sad to see your boy running off to the music freaks, instead of into your arms!
Drew: Ugh, does he have to leave me with you idiots?
  • Backhanded Apology: Drew: Live a nice life... Freak.
  • Be Yourself: The entire story is about Jake learning to embrace his passion for music, regardless of what other people say.
  • The Big Damn Kiss: Luke and Zander, after an Anguished Declaration of Love from the former.
  • Bully Magnet:
    • Jake was bullied all the time in Middle School due to his love of singing, to the point where he bullied The Music Club with The Dromies, because he didn't want to be bullied again.
    • The Music Club as a whole could count as this trope as they were bullied all the time by Drew, Henry, Liam, and (formerly) Jake.
    • Milly could be considered a decounstruction as she was bullied by Zoey so much so that she ended up becoming physically violent towards her.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: Luke and Zander.
  • Cool Big Sis: A male variant. Zander and Hailey’s younger sister, Bethany, idolizes Sean.
  • Creepy Monotone: Sadie.
  • Crush Blush: Milly blushes in the scene she has with Elliot, Jake regularly Blushes around Daisy, Sean blushes when he first meets Daisy, Zander and Luke occasionally blush around each other and Stacy blushed quite a lot whenever she was near Luke in episode 5.
  • Curtains Match the Windows: Zander has dark purple hair and lavender eyes, Milly has pink hair and pink eyes. Downplayed with Sean who has black hair and matching eye color.
  • Delicious Daydream: Henry fantasizes about eating lettuce in episode 5.
  • Dream Sue: In Jake’s first song he day-dreams that he’s invincible.
  • Early Installment Character-Design Difference: The characters had different clothing designs in the fifth episode and onwards, due to the creator switching games to use to create their designs.
  • Everytown, America: Rosemeadow City, the setting of the series. Has a high school exactly named after the city, where almost all the characters go to.
  • Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette: Sadie fits this trope.
  • Everyone Can See It: Zander and Luke. All the other members of the music club seem to think it’s obvious they both like each other but we find out in “Love-Sick Luke” and “A Drummer’s Confession” that neither Luke nor Zander were sure if the other liked him back.
Milly: It’s practically impossible for him to hate you. He’s so obviously in love with you.
Zander: Don’t be ridiculous.
  • False Friend: A downplayed sympathetic example with Jake. It's implied that he only began hanging around Drew, Henry and Liam due to not wanting to be bullied. However, it's implied that Jake does care for them on some level, such as when he smiles when he spots them in the first episode, and when he defends them in the seventh one.
  • Fighting Back Is Wrong: In 'The Pink Haired Devil', Milly gets into a fight with Zoey after she steals a page from her diary and is nearly kicked out of the competition, while we don't see Zoey getting any comeuppance, aside from getting blackmailed by Jake later.
  • Gang of Bullies: Jake, Drew, Liam and Henry. Zoey and Lia (Alpha Bitch and Beta Bitch, respectively) are around them a lot and could be considered part of the gang as well.
  • Gold Digger: Zoey is a classic example of this, as she both used Drew for money while they were dating and cheated on him with a Sugar Daddy.
  • Height Insult: When Henry asks out Lia in episode 1, she responds that she doesn’t date dwarves.
  • I Don't Want to Ruin Our Friendship: Zander’s excuse for not confessing his feelings to Luke throughout all of episode 5.
  • Interrupted Declaration of Love: In episode 5, Luke almost tells Zander how he feels, but he’s cut off by the bell.
  • It's All My Fault: Zander’s reaction when his and Luke’s relationship becomes strained due to Unresolved Sexual Tension in episode 5.
Zander: I’m such an awful friend. Luke is so kind, he never puts himself first, he’s always looking out for others. I just end up pushing him away.
  • "I Want" Song: Jake's song "My Gaming Life" in the middle of Episode 1.
  • KidAnova: Jake's twelve-year-old brother Milo has apparently "had more girlfriends since kindergarten than you ever will!"
  • Let Me at Him!: In the beginning of episode 3 Luke has to hold Milly back to keep her from attacking Zoey.
  • Offscreen Breakup: Drew and Zoey breakup by episode 10, but we never see it happening. We only see what happened to both characters after said breakup.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Luke is normally cheery and completely willing to give Jake the benefit of the doubt, so it’s terrifying when he blatantly threatens Jake that if he hurts Zander, he’ll be dealing with him (Luke) after.
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: Milly is the youngest and smallest of the club but if you mess with her, she’ll kick your ass.
  • Relative Error: Jake believed that Hailey and Zander were dating, but they’re actually step-siblings.
  • Relationship Upgrade: Zander and Luke.
  • Revenge: In Episode 3, Jake solved the tension between Zoey and Milly by blackmailing Zoey on her supposed cheating on her boyfriend Drew. In episode 10, part 1, it’s revealed that Lia sent the music club an audio of Jake bad-mouthing them as revenge for not paying attention to her. Zoey later posts the audio online because Jake told Drew that she was cheating on him.
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: Elliot’s hair color is listed as coral and he is kind and happy, treating Milly with respect when he appears in the series.
  • Stacy's Mom: Played for laughs. In the first episode Liam states that he finds Stacy’s mom hot.
  • True Companions: Sean, Hailey, Zander, Luke and Milly. Hailey even goes as far as to call them her family when making Jake swear he won’t hurt them in episode 1.
  • Two Girls to a Team: Milly and Hailey are the only two female members of The Music Club.
  • Mysterious Past: Most characters, especially the minor and side characters, have either revealed only a tiny part of their backstories or have never mentioned their past at all.
    • For example: Sadie. There is 0 information of her past, whenever its when she met Daisy, or why she's even the creepy girl she is known for.
  • Ship Tease:
    • Jake's Canon crush on Daisy aside, he has more then a few moments with Hailey, both constantly getting flustered around each other.
    • Luke and Zander were teased a bit, with Zander slightly blushing when Luke got close to him in the first episode. Episodes 4 and 5 throw the tease part out altogether, when it's confirmed that they liked each other since childhood, and they become an Official Couple.
    • Sean and Daisy have a Meet Cute in Episode 3, and Sean seems visibly disappointed when he finds out Jake has a crush on her. That's not even mentioning Episode 7, where Sean comforts a distressed Daisy, and asks for her number.
  • World of Technicolor Hair: Most of the main character and many background characters have unnatural hair-colors.
  • Those Two Guys: Henry and Liam are always together, even if they’re not in the same frame they’re sitting right next to each other.
