Dark Secrets Of Garry's Mod (Hungarian: Garry's Mod Sötét Titkai, or GMST for short) is a Hungarian Garry's Mod machinima series on YouTube. It originally started out as a single video of Gag Series on ReptileMK423's personal YouTube account in 2009/8/8, created by ReptileMK423, Medievil (Bloodhawkxd) and KillerTankHUN. It mainly gained inspiration from The Gmod Idiot Box. A sequel got posted with the addition of a new member, Boss, on Bloodhawkxd's (now deleted) personal Youtube account in 2009/8/15 but it got reuploaded. Later on it got adapted into a full length series on its own official YouTube account further expanding its lore into a World of Weirdness and Mega Crossover. KillerTankHUN and Boss quit after working on the series for some time. So on the series got new members but at the same time they also quit, leaving ReptileMK423 and Medievil the only original creators in the series. Medievil announced he will retire soon after finishing some episodes.
Tropes
- Accidental Murder: When Medievil and Reptile find a minigun they turn it on and accidentally shoot Sonic to death in a now deleted video but it got reuploaded into a compilation. Sonic gets better by the next episode however.
- Adaptational Comic Relief:
- Isaac Kleiner only exists to be the butt of a common Running Gag in the series.
- Zig-zagged with the headcrab species. They are still Puppeteer Parasites that act out on basic instincts, but one exception is SzpGamer who is an obsessed fan of Crysis.
- Adaptational Heroism: G-Man is Ambiguously Evil with varying degrees of morality in his source material. In this series, however, he has the innocence of an immature child.
- Adaptational Jerkass: Downplayed with Sonic. In his source material, it is extremely rare to see him lose his cool, let alone lash out on others, but in this series, he has a much shorter temper and there are times when he gets really hostile to rather harmless situations. While he can be still considered as a Jerk with a Heart of Gold in both versions, in the original, his "jerkish" part is downplayed, while in this series, it's played more straightforward.
- Adaptational Sexuality: Vaggie (canon lesbian) is shown thirsting after Reptile (a male) in the Szerelmi háromszög (Love triangle) Story Arc.
- Lampshaded by Reptile in part 6.Reptile: Are you not supposed to be lesbian?
- Lampshaded by Reptile in part 6.
- Adaptational Villainy:
- Chell is a member of the Káosz Szövetség (Chaos League). The team's goal is to destroy the GMST.
- In Re: 6 idegesítő Youtube tényező (which is a response video to FreddyD's 6 idegesítő Youtube tényező [6 annoying Youtube factors] video where he critisizes YouTube's problems), Daniel Fortesque is portrayed as the leader of the website whose goal is to make the Hungarian YouTube community as toxic as possible.
- Adaptational Wimp: G-Man's control over spacetime is simply nonexistent in this series and has the same abilities as regular human.
- Adaptation Name Change:
- Judith Mossman gets this twice. She is named after Anettka in Garry's Mod Sötét Titkai (2009/8/8) and Kata from a Hungarian Pepsi ad in a now deleted video but it got reuploaded into a compilation.
- The SCP Foundation is renamed as Magyar Lénykutató Portál (Hungarian Creature Research Portal).
- Adaptation Personality Change: G-Man has an innocent and childish personality, unlike his stoic personality in his source material.
- Adaptation Species Change: Sauron in the Kalandregény (Adventure novel) Story Arc is revealed to be actually a unicorn who is able to shapeshift into an ainu.
- Ambiguous Gender: Dezső is half-human and half-pony with a masculine name and a feminine body. But their actual gender remains unknown.
- Dezső életrajza (Dezső's biography) tells their origin story where they were origanally a male Scout who got bitten by Rainbow Dash that transformed him into his current state. However Utazás Dezső világába (2. rész) (Journey to Dezső's world [part 2]) reveals they were always half-human and half-pony with its own species existing on another planet. Their biography was only made up so the Magyar Lénykutató Portál (Hungarian Creature Research Portal) would not experiment on their brain.
- Animated Actors: A common theme in the series is that the characters talk about what they work on their videos, and they have their own office and studio.
- Bears Are Bad News: Boss gets attacked by a bear then Boss manages to kill it and puts its skin on his wall. It got deleted but it is reuploaded into a compilation.
- Bilingual Dialogue: Most characters speak Hungarian but they are able to keep a conversation with other characters who speak English, mostly with the Team Fortress 2 classes.
- Black Comedy Rape: Garry's Mod Sötét Titkai 2 reveals that KillerTankHUN was raped to death by a cat.
- Cats Are Mean: Exaggerated in Garry's Mod Sötét Titkai 2 when KillerTankHUN is raped to death by a cat.
- Character Catchphrase:
- Boss has two, "NE BASZ LOVAT A GARÁZSBAN" ("DO NOT FUCK HORSES IN THE GARAGE") and "VIZIPÁP" ("AQUATIC POPE").
- Medievil's catchphrase is "CICIKE" ("BOOBS"), him being a perverted Jerkass.
- Cerebus Rollercoaster: The series was originally a Gag Series with varying degrees of surreal and Black Comedy. But it slowly started to introduce many dramatic arcs with darker tones, at the same time it always came back to its original comedic form.
- Characterization Marches On: Back in the early days of the series, both Reptile and Medievil were depicted as everymen. Soon Medievil became more of a pervert jerk obsessed with boobies. Reptile kept his everyman personality but was also gifted with some traits of a Lethal Chef.
- Deal with the Devil: In Ördögi alku (Deal with the devil) Medievil makes a deal with the Devil to get a girlfriend.
- A Dog Named "Dog": Gecko is named after his species and is also Medievil's pet.

Boss responses with "NE BASZ LOVAT A GARÁZSBAN!" ("DO NOT FUCK HORSES IN THE GARAGE!") thus introducing him as the Cloudcuckoolander.
- Evil Former Friend: Half GMST tells the story how Medievil and Frost first met where Frost tells him they fired him from his metrocop job because he is "not evil enough". Medievil helps him to get it back and become friends. A year later Frost is shown to grow jealous of Boss, another metrocop friend of Medievil. Since then Frost's goal is to destroy the GMST.
- Fractured Fairy Tale: In an animation retelling The Three Little Pigs, the three pigs build houses for themselves where they have sex with a female pig. It was deleted but was reuploaded into a compilation.
- Fun with Acronyms: Magyar Lénykutató Portál (Hungarian Creature Research Portal) is a foundation shortened as MLP where scientists do research on pony related creatures.
- Gag Sub: A non-comedic example. Frost speaks in English but his Hungarian subtitles mistranslate them, which are treated as correct in-universe.
- Gender Flip: P-Body is portrayed as male instead of female.
- Genre Roulette: The series mostly revolves around comedy but often turns into more dramatic sometimes. Not only that but it also jumps between Slice of Life and adventure while experimenting with various subgenres from fantasy, Science Fiction and horror.
- Groin Attack: One Running Gag is whenever Isaac Kleiner says "THIS IS MADNESS", Sonic kicks him in the nuts.
- Interactive Narrator: Part 2 of Medievil és a Playstation 5 (Medievil and the Playstation 5) introduces a character simply called "the narrator". Unlike most examples that use this trope, he is actually shown to have a body and a face. His home is a Blank White Void where he watches the events of the series on a TV. Due to the characters messing with the timeline in a previous video, he is able to appear in the physically plane. He also uses his Badass Fingersnaps to manipulate the setting. It is later revealed that there is a multiverse with other entities just like him, and they are forbidden from intervening with any of the universes or they must face punishment.
- Interspecies Friendship:
- Sonic The Hedgehog and Dezső the pony-humanoid are mostly good friends with the human-majority cast.
- Sonic and G-Man (a human) are most notable, they are seen mostly hanging out together in peace.
- Massive Multiplayer Crossover: Many supporting characters originate from Half-Life, Portal, Counter-Strike, Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead, Fallout, Doom, Mortal Kombat, Sonic the Hedgehog, My Little Pony and Five Nights at Freddy's.
