"Get ready to go home. This isn't training anymore, kid."
Matt

V.S. Wii Funkin, formerly named as Wii Funkin VS Matt, is an Open Source Friday Night Funkin' Game Mod created by Sulayre, where Boyfriend begins a training session with the Wii Sports champion and Memetic Badass of Matt to better up his skills, however, future updates plan to expand the lore and add characters from other Mii-based titles such as Miitopia. An additional semi-official Wiik 3 was created by Silk 88 as a fanmade Wiik, however, as it received help from Sulayre and the original dev team it will be also enlisted here.

On August 11th, the first Mii Funkin' expansion mod, Mii Funkin' VS Eteled was released, setting Boyfriend to fight the antagonist of the Mii-themed creepypasta Wii Deleted You, notably based on TheMaskedChris' animatic adaptation of the creepypasta. It can be found here.

It's worth noting that an official crossover with srPerez's VS Shaggy mod was released in July 4th 2021 called Shaggy X Matt, which combines Shaggy's special gameplay mechanic of additional arrows with Matt's frenetic singing.

This game provides examples of:

  • A Winner Is You: While it just takes you to the main menu in the official Wiiks 1 and 2, defeating Matt in Wiik 3 will show a small CG of Boyfriend and Matt handshaking after having finally solved their beef with each other.
  • And I Must Scream: Eteled reveals that getting deleted hurts immensely after "Diagraphephobia".
  • The Ace: Matt is this, judging from his Wiik 1 animations, he appears to be talented at all sports events, holding equipment that changes every pose.
  • Affably Evil: Eteled is a Nice Guy… until someone tries to delete him.
  • Berserk Button: For Eteled, being deleted. After Austin deletes him after "Dreams of Peace", he shifts from a rather nice guy to an Ax-Crazy killer.
Eteled: If there is one thing I need to get through your head… Don't. Delete. Miis.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: Boyfriend briefly breaks the 4th wall to thank people for supporting the mod.
  • Contrasting Sequel Antagonist: Matt is a Scary Black Man known for his fast, note heavy songs and based is based on a Memetic Badass of an official Mii from Wii Sports. Eteled is a white Mii from a creepypasta based on the Mii Channel itself and has fairly low BPM songs, though with fairly high Scroll speeds ranging from 2.2 to 2.8. Additionally, Eteled is eventually hijacked by Austin while Matt stays as the opponent throughout all his weeks.
  • Easy-Mode Mockery: Inverted. Eteled will occasionally encourage you to turn on easy mode if you die to him in "Dreams of Peace". If you're already on easy mode, then god help you.
  • Evil Versus Evil: Eteled and Austin face each other in the bonus song "Plaything".
  • Fisher Kingdom: Due to things taking place inside Wii Sports, Boyfriend and Girlfriend's hands have turned into floating colored stubs without arms to connect them to their torso.
  • Game-Over Man: Eteled, much like Tankman in the base game, has a few game over quotes depending on what song you died to. The same applies to Austin.
  • Glamour Failure: Boyfriend's Mii appearance will briefly revert to him holding a Nintendo Wii Remote upon missing a note. Missing as Austin during "Plaything" has a similar effect, showing what he looks like when he was a human.
  • Gratuitous Spanish: In "Boxing Match" and "Deathmatch", Matt briefly counts up to 4 in Spanish, it also appears to be the uncut version of Matt's sound samples.
  • Have a Nice Death: Dying in "Plaything" leads to Eteled lodging his ax in Austin's chest.
  • Incredibly Lame Pun: The base game's stages, stylized as Weeks, are instead rebranded here with the name of Wiiks.
  • Interface Screw: Occasionally during "Post Mortal", Austin will glitch, which also affects the arrows on both sides
  • Lame Comeback: The original dialogue for "Boxing Match" had Boyfriend reply to Matt with the phrase "Eat mii nuts".
  • Let's Get Dangerous!: Matt tells Boyfriend that "This isn't training anymore, kid." before "Sporting" begins.
  • Marathon Level: Matt's songs become extremely lengthy and note-heavy the further his Wiiks progress. For perspective, the longest song in the original game at the time of writing is "Guns", of 2 minutes and 20 seconds, holding around 447 notes. The longest song in the modding community when Wiik 2 came out was Foolhardy, which lasts around 4 minutes and holds over 1023 notes with spacing for the player to cool down between verses, Matt's "Boxing Match" only lasts 3 minutes and 10 seconds and holds 1108 notes with no time to rest except for when Matt is singing.
  • Meaningful Name: Diagraphephobia is the fear of deletion, which is fitting, as being deleted is Eteled's biggest Berserk Button.
  • Misplaced Retribution: Eteled tries to kill Boyfriend and Girlfriend, assuming they tried to delete him whereas in actuality, it was Austin that did it.
  • Motor Mouth: Matt's singing is flat out intense, his voice samples can't even begin properly before a new one begins.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: Eteled, unlike Matt, Boyfriend and Girlfriend actually has arms instead of disembodied hands, fitting since while Matt resides in Wii Sports, Eteled resides in the Mii Channel. And Austin has an even more non-standard design with a body befitting a evil supervillain.
  • Ominous Visual Glitch: During "Diagraphephobia", the Mii Channel options in the background glitch heavily and both Austin and the arrows do this during "Post Mortal".
  • Patter Song: Matt's main appeal. The Highest BPM song and Scroll Speed in the base game's Hard mode goes to "Thorns" (190 BPM) and "M.I.L.F" (2.6 Scroll Speed). "Ruckus", the second song from Wiik 1 has a whopping 200BPM and a Scroll Speed of 3. In fact, All Wiik 1 songs had to to be heavily nerfed and recharted as they drove people away due to being unbearable to play for the game's much more casual audience, special mention goes to "Target Practice", which had a note speed of 4.3 that was reduced to 3.5 in a later update.
"Your songs are so spammy and filled with notes that I prefer talking to you!"
  • Pit Girls: Girlfriend takes on this role in Wiik 3.
  • Promoted to Playable: Austin is your playable character in the bonus song "Plaything", facing off against Eteled.
  • Scary Black Man: Matt natch. He's one of the most insane opponents Boyfriend has faced in terms of difficulty without the need of distractions, disorienting effects, or special gameplay gimmicks.
  • Sdrawkcab Name: Eteled = Delete.
  • Slasher Smile: The face Eteled takes on after Austin deletes him.
  • Suddenly Voiced: Boyfriend speaks after you beat "Sporting". Lampshaded by Matt.
    "Wait, you speak English?!"
  • Take That!: Matt suddenly bursting into tears in the revamped Wiik 2 dialogue is a jab at a low-quality fanmade crossover with Friday Night Funkin': Corruption, which features the same line, only played completely seriously.
  • Tom the Dark Lord: Austin isn't exactly the first name you would think of when you describe a corrupted Mii who tortures Miis that got deleted. Especially when compared to Eteled, though his real name is Henry.
  • Villain Protagonist: See Promoted to Playable above.

eteled vs. Austin

After Boyfriend and Girlfriend fled the scene (though the latter is inexplicably still present during the song), former Nintendo employees, Ax Crazy Well-Intentioned Extremist, Henry, AKA eteled, and Corrupted Mii, Austin are left to battle each other in the song "Plaything"

How well does it match the trope?
