The internet's newest plaything meets the classics.

YTP Invasion (Formerly "Weegee Invasion") is a Friday Night Funkin' mod created by StashClub.

In this mod, Boyfriend encounters some of the internet's oldest memes: Weegee, the infamous eldritch god based off of Luigi's appearance in the PC version of Mario Is Missing!, King Harkinian, Zelda's father and the King of Hyrule from the The Legend Of Zelda C Di Games, Dr. Octogonapus, the parody of Dr. Octopus from The Lazer Collection and Sanic, the infamous crudely drawn version of Sonic.

Examples from YTP Invasion:

  • Anchors Away: Weegee always has an anchor on him. He even wears it as a cape in the remixes!
  • Badass Cape: Weegee wears his signature anchor like one in the remixes of “Weegee” and “Invasion”!
  • Camera Perspective Switch: "Blaster" and “Richer” take place in a first-person view similar to "Ephiphany" and "Monochrome", albeit way more funny.
  • Denser and Wackier: MLGchrome is a remix of the famously disturbing "Monochrome", but replaces Gold with Sanic and the jumpscares with MLG sound effects.
  • Eyes Do Not Belong There: Weegee's right pose has him gain Extra Eyes. Said eyes appear on the palms of his hands and in place of his overall buttons.
  • Frickin' Laser Beams: Dr. Octagonapus has a particular obsession with these, using them to blast away Daddy Dearest and Pico (and almost Boyfriend) in the intro cutscene. His second song is even called "Lazer".
  • Mythology Gag:
    • "Anchored" references "The Sky Had A Weegee" even further than "Weegee", with more quotes from it playing during the song.
    • Halfway into the song, "Anchored" also quotes Bowser's letter from Hotel Mario, another CDi Mario game with a similar reputation to Weegee's origin game.
    • Weegee's new up pose references the "It's a Stone, Luigi" scene from the Super Mario World cartoon.
    • Ravioli has a Weegee version of the invitation letter from Super Mario 64.
    • The cutscenes for King Harkinian and Morshu's week are styled exactly like a YTP of The Legend Of Zelda C Di Games, primarily taking from the first cutscene of "The Faces of Evil". In the "Blaster" cutscene, King Harkinian also says that Boyfriend will have to "scrub all the floors in Hyrule" if he loses, mirroring his punishment to Duke Onkled at the end of "Wand of Gamelon".
    • "Blaster" has King Harkinian repeatedly saying "my boy", referencing the particularly-memed line "My boy, this peace is what all true warriors strive for!" from "The Faces of Evil". Midways into the song, he also quotes the aforementioned "After you've scrubbed all the floors in Hyrule" line.
    • All of King Harkinian and Morshu's poses are clips of them from said CDi games edited to have them hold a microphone.
    • The cutscenes in Dr. Octogonapus' week, similar to King Harkinian and Morshu's week above, are styled like a higher-quality version of an episode of The Lazer Collection.
  • Shout-Out:

Examples from Weegee Invasion:

  • 15 Minutes of Fame: As the face of a once-beloved meme that's been largely ignored by the internet for years, Weegee believes Boyfriend's fame will be short-lived.
"Stars like you burn out fast. Trust me. I'd know."
  • Brought to You by the Letter "S": Weegee's cap sports a "W".
  • The Cameo: Weegee's fellow old-school internet memes appear for "Invasion" and "Obsolete", serving as his goons, as well as an audience. Malleo, Sanic and Morshu show up during "Invasion", while "Obsolete" adds Trollface, Dr. Ivo Robotnik and Ganon.
  • Faux Horrific: When Weegee infects Boyfriend with the Weegee Virus, Girlfriend's first reaction is to state in horror that he turned him into an Italian.
  • Forced Transformation: In "Invasion", Weegee uses his death stare to turn Boyfriend into a Weegee clone. The result is Boyfriend wearing Mario's signature shirt, gloves and overalls whilst sporting Weegee's nose and mustache, as well as blank white eyes. Girlfriend, due to her demon DNA, is unaffected, to Weegee's chagrin. Boyfriend returns to normal upon completion of "Invasion".
  • Interface Screw: During "Spaghetti" and "Runnin", Weegee sends out up notes covered in spaghetti. Missing these notes causes the screen to get covered in spaghetti for 2 seconds. Weegee also makes the screen shake and move in different ways throughout his eponymous song.
  • Mythology Gag: Many Weegee-related memes and other internet memes are referenced throughout the mod:
    • Weegee's mic is attached to an anchor, referencing the infamous YouTube Poop "The Sky had a Weegee", in which Weegee took the place of the anchor from the SpongeBob episode "Shanghaied!". "Weegee" even opens with the infamous scene's dialogue playing.
    • Weegee's original down pose has him resemble Luigi's appearance from the "Super Mario World" cartoon, complete with the pose he assumes while saying "That's Mama Luigi to you, Mario!".
    • Weegee's original right pose closely resembles his original appearance.
    • Weegee turning Boyfriend into a Weeegee clone for "Invasion" with his death stare references the short "The Weegee Invasion". The song itself is also a reference to said short, and prior to that, Weegee mentions a possibility for the invasion to return in the dialogue before "Spaghetti".
    • Memetic Luigi quotes from Hotel Mario and Super Mario World are stated on multiple occasions in the songs, such as "I hope she made lots of Spaghetti!" and "Mama Luigi!". Increased tenfold in "Runnin", which is a Luigi-themed remix of Initial D's "Runnin' in the 90's".
    • At the start of "Invasion", Weegee says "OBEY WEEGEE! DESTROY MARIO!", the infamous Weegee version of Wario's "Obey Wario! Destroy Mario!" line from this commerical for Super Mario Land 2.
    • A section of "Obsolete" has Weegee repeatedly say a snippet of Ganon's infamous "You will DIE!" line from "Link: The Faces of Evil" (Specifically, the word "DIE!"), and even says the full line in the cutscene before "Spaghetti". Notably, whenever Weegee says "DIE!", Boyfriend's health is reduced to 1, meaning missing a single note will result in death.
  • No Fair Cheating: Invasion is able to detect if botplay is being used. If it does, the health drain during the triple-note spam section becomes so intense that not even the bot can beat it, forcing the player to beat the song legit.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Weegee's right pose has his eyes turn red.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Weegee's original up pose has the anchor crush his foot while he screams, a possible reference to the SpongeBob Running Gag "MY LEG!".
    • Morshu is holding a bomb in his hands. Said bomb is the head of Whitty.
    • In the cutscene for "Runnin", Weegee claims his funk levels are over 9000.
  • Take That!: In the "Obsolete" cutscene, Weegee throws jabs at the reviled works of the Friday Night Funkin' fandom, namely the "Mukbang" and "Gacha Life" videos.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: After Boyfriend breaks free from the Weegee virus upon completion of "Invasion" and tells Weegee that he has had his time of fame and needs to move on, Weegee mellows out, realizing that he can't beat Boyfriend, and simply requests one last song.
