"Oh nice! I just made a character come outside the game!"
Taeyai, before Open System

A Friday Night Funkin' Game Mod about Taeyai's self-insert - a coder who just wants to succeed - pulling Boyfriend from his world to hers. Rap-happy as he ever is, he challenges her to a rap battle even though she isn't good at singing herself. Things start to escalate after the second song, though...

You can download the mod here.

Song List

  • "Open System"
  • "Wear a Mask"
  • "Last Hope"
  • "Virus" (upcoming)

Cyber Sensation provides examples of:

  • Adaptational Jerkass: This most likely could just be Taeyai trying to screw with Boyfriend, but in the cutscene leading up to "Last Hope", she shows him a hologram of Girlfriend kissing Piconote
  • The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You:
    • After the cutscene following "Wear A Mask", a fake error message pops up before the game crashes: "COME AGAIN WHEN YOU'RE READY". The perfect way to describe what happens if you open the game afterwards...
    • There's also a text document that's generated after said cutscene where Taeyai tells you that she will take away your dreams. Yes, you.
    • Oh, and if you have Open Broadcasting Software open, Taeyai's error message and text document give an appropriate response.
      DO YOU THINK YOU'RE COOL
Use OBS? Are you a streamer?
      Or just a youtuber?
What a hopeless dream you got there.
  • Happy Ending: After Taeyai loses a third time, it ends up being a one for both her and Boyfriend. For one, he forgives her for everything she has done during their time in her dimension. She fixes the code needed for him to exit and get back home, but then gets a message showing she got praise for an earlier mod she made, "''Date Night Funkin'", and she thanks Boyfriend for everything. With that, she opens the portal for him and he happily leaves.
  • Interface Screw: Holy smokes. "Last Hope" screws with the UI in so may ways.
    • The screen may glitch or black out for a second.
    • Your strumline may get covered by a hologram a la "Onslaught".
    • Your screen might get flipped, causing the key bindings to swap no matter what keys you banded it to.
    • Your notes may appear on Taeyai's strumline and vice versa.
    • One of the notes in your strumline may disappear.
    • And the strumline may even spin.
  • I Shall Taunt You: In the cutscene before "Last Hope" Taeyai tells Boyfriend that no one cares about him and demonstrates this by pulling up a hologram of Girlfriend and Pico kissing. Needless to say, this pisses him off.
  • One-Winged Angel: After losing twice, Taeyai takes no more of it and begins to use all of her power during "Last Hope" to finish off Boyfriend once and for all. She actually plays it straight, which is rare considering that this is a Dead Horse Trope in the modding community. Most mods at the time of its release either Lampshade it, subvert it, or outright avert it.
  • Plot Tunnel: After completing "Wear A Mask", you have to complete "Last Hope" in order to play any of the levels again, as any attempt to exit from the level will be futile since it'll always be on this level until you complete it.
  • Power Floats: Taeyai floats during "Last Hope".
  • Sore Loser: After being defeated by Boyfriend twice, she breaks down and expresses how she can't make anything successful in life, even accusing Boyfriend of humiliating her because of the 'beep-boop' language barrier. This all leads to her going One-Winged Angel between that and the next cutscene.
  • Tears of Joy: Taeyai cries out of happiness after she sees the message praising her Date Night mod.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Following "Wear a Mask", Taeyai breaks down and clearly has had enough of Boyfriend. Cue the obligatory last song transformation. She does calm down after "Last Hope", though.
  • You No Take Candle: Taeyai's English isn't exactly the best, as she occasionally ends up saying words/sentences that aren't grammatically accurate. This is probably because the real Taeyai is from Thailand and English isn't her native language.
