LEGO Ultra Agents is a LEGO Theme beginning in 2014, revolving around an elite crime-fighting force which protects Astor City from Super Villains.
In addition to the LEGO construction sets, Ultra Agents tells much of its story through a tie-in app which presents an interactive graphic novel and covers the characters and setting in much greater detail.
LEGO Ultra Agents is often considered a Spiritual Successor to LEGO Agents, with numerous sets bearing parallels to the previous line, most notably 70165 Ultra Agents Mission HQ. However, whereas LEGO Agents and LEGO Alpha Team were based on Spy Fiction, Ultra Agents has a more fantastic and futuristic approach with barely any focus on spies; less like James Bond, more like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Ultra Agents also acts as a Stealth Sequel to LEGO Galaxy Squad and LEGO Monster Fighters, featuring the return of Solomon Blaze from the former line.
LEGO Ultra Agents contains examples of:
- Ace Pilot: Curtis Bolt, who is also the team expert on supersonic travel and dogfights.
- Added Alliterative Appeal: Most of the product names, including Riverside Raid, Tremor Track Infiltration, Infearno Interception, and Hurricane Heist.
- All There in the Script: The LEGO Group sent LEGO Stores a product description for Ultra Agents
which reveals that Lord Vampyre's moonstones are responsible for creating the Rogues Gallery; however, this seems to be largely disregarded by official media. This description also confirmed that Solomon Blaze is the same character from Galaxy Squad. - Arachnid Appearance and Attire: Spyclops takes it in a different direction from his similarly-named predecessor. He's a cyborg with mechanical spider limbs on his back, half of his face replaced with spiderlike cybernetics, and a few other body parts to go with the motif. He pilots a spider walker and controls robot spiders.
- Artificial Limbs: Solomon Blaze's right leg appears to be prosthetic.
- Artistic License – Biology: Spyclops (who resembles a spider) only has four limbs. This is pointed out by Agent X in the app, who remarks that "Four-Arms" would be a more appropriate name for him.
- Badass Driver: Agent Burns, who is a 7-time world champion stunt driver.
- Base on Wheels: Ultra Agents Mission HQ, following the Mobile Command Centers of LEGO Alpha Team and LEGO Agents, is the Ultra Agents' giant truck that doubles as a base of operations.
- Big Bad: A hooded figure is seen communicating with Psyclone and Terabyte in the sets, and in the app, tries to enter the HQ. Each villain has a connection to this figure. Come Wave 2 of Ultra Agents, he is revealed to be called AntiMatter.
- Body Horror:
- Adam Acid, a man who is being turned into and dissolved by acid. Half of his face is yellow and looks like a criminal from the City theme, while the other half is green (the minifigure's head itself is transparent green) and damaged. His eye there is red, he has an exposed nasal cavity, and his teeth are rotten and missing. A few pieces of undissolved skin are on the destroyed half. His left arm is completely green as well, and it burned through his sweatshirt sleeve.
- Infearno's head is on fire, and his horribly burnt skin looks extremely painful.
- Brain in a Jar: In the third wave, Brainstein has turned into a cyborg, with a helmet topped by a jar with a brain in it.
- Brainwashed and Crazy: Suggested to be the case with the Rogues Gallery. Tremor and Toxikita once had lives before AntiMatter corrupted them, and in Toxikita's case, she was a respected environmentalist before being turned into a Poisonous Person. This has later been changed inside the theme to keep it self-contained.
- Call-Back: Solomon Blaze is now a retired veteran of the Galaxy Squad and founded the Ultra Agents.
- Brooklyn Rage: Spyclops has a bit of a Brooklyn accent.
- The Cameo: Toxikita and Invizable make brief appearances in the Ninjago show!
- The Corrupter: A new video on the website reveals that the villains were civilians who passed through portals set by (an unnamed) AntiMatter in each district of the city. A firefighter is shown being transformed into Infearno in this way, making the civilians the opposite of what they stood for.
- Do Not Touch the Funnel Cloud: Psyclone's Humongous Mecha is designed to create tornadoes.
- Drill Tank: Drillex sports one. His has not one drill, but two mounted on a rotating bar. The gears inside the bar allow each individual drill to spin when the whole bar does.
- Eccentric Exterminator: Spyclops is a fearsome one. He's a cyborg with two spider limbs on his back, and various body parts replaced with unnerving cybernetics. He has a spray bottle, and commands robot spiders.
- Energy Weapon: The weapon of choice for most characters in this line.
- Evil Brit: The evil Infearno has a nasally British accent.
- Evil Genius: The evil Terabyte is noted for his genius-level intellect.
- Evil Sounds Deep: Used with many of the villains, but most jarring with Toxikita, who has a contralto. Averted with Terabyte and Infearno.
- Eyepatch of Power: Psyclone has a metal one. His protective mask is missing a lens where the missing eye is.
- Foregone Conclusion: Childrens' playtimes imagining the Agents winning for many of the sets is not canon, as the app and subsequent sets dictate that the villain succeeds in their task, like Toxikita successfully stealing the pollutonium to power her mech in the second wave of sets, or Anti-Matter's underlings managing to deliver the various Macguffins in the theme to him for his portal device.
- Hazmat Suit: Worn by the Astor City Scientist.
- Hello, [Insert Name Here]: The protagonist of the app comics is a male Ultra Agent whose "classified name" is chosen by the player from a list of predetermined names.note
- Hollywood Hacking: The final chapter of the app (for the first wave of sets) revolves around this.
- Humongous Mecha: Psyclone's vehicle of choice is a massive Metal Gear-inspired mech.
- Irony: Each of the villains was an ordinary civilian who passed through portals set by AntiMatter in the city. As a result, each one turned into a supervillain with the same base theme, but twisted toward evil.
- Infearno was a firefighter who turned into a literally on-fire pyromaniac.
- Tremor was a silver-clad local champion boxer, Louis Lightweight. He turned into a heavily-armored villain who uses fist-shaped weapons to destroy things.
- It is heavily implied that Toxikita was once an environmentalist. Post-transformation, she gained green hair, sometimes-green eyes, and uses pro-environment symbols for her polluting, toxic crimes.
- Spyclops was most likely an exterminator (he still has remnants of a uniform and he carries a spray bottle) who turned into a spider-like cyborg in command of robot spiders.
- Psyclone's gear and vehicle point toward his being a military pilot.
- The Agents' Professor Brainstein turns into a spider-legged cyborg with a brain in a dome on top of his head.
- Kaleidoscope Hair: Agent Caila Phoenix has pink hair in the first wave of sets, but it's blue in the second wave.
- Kidnapped Scientist: Toxikita attempts to do this to Professor Brainstein.
- The Leader: Solomon Blaze is the leader of the Ultra Agents.
- Meaningful Name: Most of the villains. Infearno is a Magma Man, Terabyte is a Cyborg hacker ("terabyte" is literally "a trillion bytes"), Psyclone specializes in creating tornadoes, and Toxikita, Retox, and Adam Acid are Poisonous People. Spyclops is a spiderlike cyborg with one robot eye in the middle of his forehead, Invizable is...guess, Drillex is obsessed with drills, and AntiMatter can create portals of evil. Professor Brainstein sounds like a Punny Name at first, but when he turns into a cyborg with a Brain in a Jar in the third wave of sets, it gains a more direct meaning.
- Mini-Mecha: Terabyte's hi-tech mech. Toxikita pilots one in the second wave. Spyclops has a variant in the form of a small spider-walker.
- Mission Briefing: Takes place inside the Ultra Agents Mission HQ.
- Monochromatic Eyes:
- Infearno has solid yellow glowing eyes.
- Toxikita has green eyes, but only sometimes. Oddly, she has an alternate face depicting more normal face with standard minifigure eyes. The green eyes are used in the app, however.
- Spyclops has light green eyes.
- SharX has purple eyes.
- Mythology Gag: There are a few references to previous themes.
- The names of Infearno and Spyclops are thought to be Call Backs to Dr. Inferno and Spy-Clops, respectively.
- Even if there's no canon connection, it's no coincidence that one of the villains reuses Break Jaw's helmet piece in gold.
- Names to Run Away from Really Fast: A few. Adam Acid, Psyclone, Infearno, and AntiMatter are all awesome and threatening sounding villain names. So are Electrolyzer and SharX.
- One-Way Visor: Terabyte and Tremor have opaque visors. AntiMatter's is transparent, but his head behind the mask doesn't reveal anything. Drillex has opaque goggles.
- Pest Controller: Spyclops. The great irony of this is that he's a corrupted pest control worker, an insect exterminator.
- Pimp Duds: Invizable. He has a red suit, a money-print shirt, a fedora, a large gold disk on a chain, and "floating" golden sunglasses printed on his clear head. He has some golden accents on his hover vehicle, and his crime? Stealing gold! Even funnier, this isn't the first time LEGO has made a pimp-like minifigure.
- Poisonous Person: Toxikita, Retox, and Adam Acid.
- Power Fist: A motif of Tremor's. This comes from him once being a local champion boxer, Louis Lightweight.
- Pungeon Master: Psyclone literally spews a Hurricane of Puns, most of which revolve around money and banks.
- Punny Name: Infearno (inferno/fear) and Psyclone (psycho/cyclone).
- Radiation-Immune Mutants: Toxikita, since she's able to steal pollutonium.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: Multiple villains have red eyes:
- Adam Acid's damaged side of the face has a red eye.
- Tremor has a red visor over his eyes.
- Retox has red eyes.
- Psyclone's remaining eye is red.
- Robot Dog: P.U.P., who closely resembles a K-9 Bot in an Ultra Agents color scheme in the app. He has more silver parts than black in the set he appears in.
- Rogues Gallery: Unlike LEGO Alpha Team and LEGO Agents, which had a single Big Bad and his henchmen, LEGO Ultra Agents instead features an ensemble of Super Villains who are causing trouble in Astor City. It actually turns out there is a villain controlling each of them, due to be in the largest set of the second wave of Ultra Agents. The only visible indication of this in the sets, however, is that Spyclops, Drillex, and Invizable have AntiMatter's symbol (a portal-like spiral) on their vehicles.
- Sensible Heroes, Skimpy Villains: Downplayed, but Toxikita wears a ripped tank top that exposes her midsection, while the agents all have full suits on.
- Sensory Abuse: In the app, SharX's voice is so loud and grainy-sounding, it sounds like the recording microphone was being blown out.
- Shock and Awe: Electrolyzer.
- Shoulders of Doom: Worn by Infearno, Tremor, Toxikita in her second appearance (with the same armor piece as Infearno), and Drillex.
- Shout-Out:
- The graphic and model designers of the Hurricane Heist set are fans of Metal Gear and it shows. Not only does Pysclone's Humongous Mecha resemble the Metal Gear mechs, but the HUD on the windshield is clearly modeled after the Metal Gear Solid codec screen and even has the listed frequency 140.15, which is Meryl's frequency in the Metal Gear Solid games. Even better, the series' creator, Hideo Kojima is a huge fan of LEGO, so this is their way of complimenting him!
- To hint at his being a former boxer, Tremor quotes Muhammad Ali. "Tremor floats like a butterfly..."
- Invizable is clearly based on The Invisible Man, down to having a clear minifigure head and a suit and hat.
- Terabyte's symbol is a Space Invader modified to look like a skull.
- Now, who does "Drillex" sound like?
- Sickly Green Glow: Pollutonium, a highly toxic and radioactive mineral.
- Spider Limbs: Spyclops has two robotic spider legs protruding from his back.

Spiritual Successor: To LEGO Agents. - The Squad: The Ultra Agents.
- Stealth Sequel: To LEGO Galaxy Squad. Solomon Blaze is a returning character from Galaxy Squad, setting Ultra Agents years later after he retired. By extension, it's also in the same continuity as LEGO Monster Fighters, since Galaxy Squad was a Stealth Sequel to that theme.
- Subverted Innocence: Toxikita and her gang use pro-environment symbols in their crimes. Her emblem (the three-ring toxic symbol modified to look like a skull-and-crossbones) was used in an environmental rally, and the boat Adam Acid uses to pollute the river, The Guardian was used for safe chemical transport. This adds depth if you agree with her backstory being a corrupted environmentalist.
- Technicolor Magic: AntiMatter and anything associated with him. His technology is purple, as are his portals, and even the flames on his oil rig hideout!
- Theme Naming: Most of the Agents have last names relating to fire or light, while the others' last names are personality-related.
- Max Burns.
- Solomon Blaze.
- Caila Phoenix.

- Third-Person Person: Tremor, as depicted in the app comics, refers to himself in the third person.
- Time Skip: Remember Solomon Blaze, the young pilot from LEGO Galaxy Squad? He's now a battle-damaged middle-aged veteran leading a new team of young agents.
- Transforming Mecha: Psyclone's vehicle can transform between a Humongous Mecha and an aircraft.
- Vocal Dissonance: Toxikita, by all appearances, appears to be in her twenties or thirties. The voice she's given in the app sounds like a very deep-voiced woman in her fifties. This could be handwaved as a side effect of the portal, but, still, seeing someone dressed in a ripped tank top and spiked collar talking with that voice just sounds wrong.
- Was Once a Man: Ultra Agent Morgan Lux worked on dangerous experiments with a special weapon. The result destroyed him and left him as the being known as AntiMatter, with a staff that creates portals that transform civilians into supervillains.
- What the Hell Is That Accent?: The player Agent in the app has a bizarre voice, since it tries to be "neutral". The lack of any identifiable affectations makes it sound like its own weird accent, and not the neutral "guy from anywhere" they were going for.
- Xtreme Kool Letterz: Invizable. This is oddly fitting, since he's a combination of the Invisible Man and a pimp. SharX also counts.
