Shout-Outs from the band
- Fans of the band believe one of the main inspirations for the band is Dragon Quest RPG series, especially music videos with fantastic medieval settings. Being designed by Akira Toriyama, there're other Shout-outs to this creator seen in PLC videos:
- Aya in "Gekiai Merry-Go-Round" is a Pink Girly Girl Saiyajin Scout.
- Apart of being based on Cloud Strife, Daishi in fantasy medieval videos looks like a blonde Crono.
- And, in some way, monkeys in "Shunkashuutou" can be seen as cute Oozaru.
- Most of Seek's monster designs are based on Japanese Mythology's Youkais like an oni ("Yume Kazaguruma"), a kappa ("Omoide Aruki") and a tengu ("Prism.")
- The group based most of their dance routines from ParaParaParadise game series, even being the choreographer himself, YURA-sama, having some videos where he made "classes" of how to dance band's dances.
Shout-Outs from music videos and live concerts
Kronos/Excalibur
- The whole videoclips are represented as if the band were in a RPG game, especially Dragon Quest series.
- Daishi dresses with a light blue (almost cyan) clothes with white armor with a blond spiky hair, based in some RPG heroes like Ortega's son, Crono and Cloud Strife.
- Also, his armor looks like Seiya's Bronze Cloth.
- Not to mention in "Excalibur" where he ports the legendary sword Excalibur.
- Lida appears as the chinese martial artist wanderer seen in various anime and videogames. His Chinese straw hat also makes him look like a colorful Raiden.
- Aya appears as the Big Bad for first (and only) time, being a Wicked Witch similar to fairy tales and Disney Animated Canon.
Gekiai Merry-Go-Round
- The entire music video was based on Space Opera anime series and movies, having an intro of a bone converting into a spaceship just like in 2001: A Space Odyssey.
- Daishi continues with the look of "Kronos" and "Excalibur" but with a more futuristic look and all in black. Here resembles more to the Advent Children version of Cloud Strife.
- Lida is literally the Green Ranger from Power Rangers series, even when still has his orange hair. Also he looks like a green Guyver.
- Aya looks like a Girly Girl Saiyan, with Freeza's armor and scouter included.
- Seek looks like Martian monsters from old Hollywood movies mixed with Cthulhu.
Ai no Uta
- Like "Kronos" and "Excalibur", this music video recreates a fantastical medieval setting like in RPG games.
- Daishi repeats a similar look than in "Kronos" and "Excalibur" but more elaborated than these 2 music videos. So basically the references remains mostly the same.
- Like Daishi, Lida repeats the chinese martial artist stereotype. Unlike him, this time his costume is fully orange and with more martial arts movies references.
- Aya also repeats as a witch, but now she appears as a Cute Witch close to Magical Girl anime series.
- YURA-sama is the only one who changes his image from these music videos from a Western priest to a magical priest that resembles a peacock.
Roman Hikou
- The music video is based on the High School settings from anime, manga and light novel series, with repeated stereotypes for all of them.
- Daishi looks like Tamaki Suoh. Maybe the anime is more known and comes years after this music video (2010), but the manga version is from 2002, one year before "Roman Hikou".
- Seek is like creepy version of Nobita Nobi, color-coded as green and also is The Baby of the Bunch.
Megatron
- The whole music video is a homage to Super Sentai series, being every member disguised as Color-Coded Characters.
- In photobook as well in concerts (there's no music video for this song), the alter-ego of the heroes are all high-schoolers. Of all Super Sentai series, the closest to this formation is the 1997's Denji Sentai Megaranger, being PLC members porting a similar school uniform.
- Daishi's transformed form looks like Son Goku from Journey to the West.
Love is Dead
- More than an external reference, the shed where the band is in this music video is the one used by other famous Visual Kei bands as Malice Mizer and Dir en grey to represent Cyberpunk aesthetics in their music videos.
- Daishi wears a modified blue high-school outfit in a similar way than Jotaro Kujo. Also, going even more retro, Daishi in this video could be similar to Kazuma Kuwabara.
- Lida's black Cyberpunk armor referenced various famous Toku heroes like Kamen Rider and Guyver.
- Aya wears a military Action Girl costume, with a rifle included, which looks like she was on a Zombie Apocalypse scenario like in Resident Evil series.
- Seek's green skin, light brown costume and the apperance of a goblin, which resembles certain monstruous character from a fighting game: Gen-an Shiranui.
- Contrasting with Daishi's look in videos like "Kronos", "Excalibur" and "Gekiai Merry-Go-Round", YURA-sama here wears a black suit and long jacket with a BFS resembling Sephiroth.
Other music videos and live concerts
- All the members in "Shunkashuutou" are dressed as cute monkeys in a rocky landside. All is normal and kawaii here until the end when one of the members throws a bone to the air and this converts into a spaceship, a direct reference to 2001: A Space Odyssey and it links to the beginning of "Gekiai Merry-Go-Round" music video.
- The whole "Omoide Aruki" music video is a homage to Journey to the West with all the members disguised as some of the characters, especially Daishi which is obviously Sun Wukong/Son Goku/Monkey King.
- "Michi no Sora" is also a homage, but this time to Western fairy tales and Disney Animated Canon, with Daishi being the Prince Charming, Aya the Princess Classic, YURA-sama The Good King (with Aya being in a plot of Arranged Marriage), Lida the Trickster Aristiocrat and Seek being a Friendly Ghost that probably came from Alice in Wonderland.
- Characters from one of the comeback songs, "Akiramenai Days" (2015), are mostly based on West references from movies and literature, like a Sherlock (Daishi), a Mad Scientist (Lida), a Cat Girl (Aya) and The Blob (1958) (Seek), being YURA-sama the only Japanese stereotype, the classic thief with Stealth Clothes and Thief Bag.
- And about Seek's costume, there's a meta-reference in which all the faces he has in his costume are his past personas from old music videos.
