Shout Out / 101 Dalmatian Street

Go To

  • In the opening titles, Dolly is seen on a street crossing with four humans walking in the background. If you look at the third human, you'll notice that they have bare feet. As such, Dolly is in the middle of the Abbey Road album cover.
  • "Boom Night"
    • The whole episode is a parody of The Purge.
    • Dolly and Dylan search London for Dorothy. It turns out she was on the roof of the house the entire time, similar to the first Hangover film.
  • In "Power to the Puppies," the scene where Diesel gets the other puppies to dig the biggest hole ever plays out like "Be Prepared" from The Lion King (1994).
  • In "Walkies on the Wild Side," according to story launch notes, the art style for the scene when Dylan and the Canal Crew get food is based on My Neighbor Totoro and Blade Runner.
  • In "May Contain Nuts," Dylan leading the pups into the bathroom under heavy fire of nail clippings is based on the "storming the beach" scene from Saving Private Ryan.
  • "Crushed Out"
    • When Dylan is fantasizing about being in space, the helmet breathing he does sounds like Darth Vader's breathing.
    • In the same episode, Dylan is shown to have a number of of video game consoles in his tree house, some of which resemble a Game Boy, GameCube, Sega Genesis, and an Xbox 360.
    • Dylan's date with Portia is a blatant one to Lady and the Tramp, complete with Spaghetti Kiss.
  • When Diesel is arrested in "The Nose Job," he encounters a Russian wolfhound called Boris and an English bulldog called Bull. These are two of the pound dogs from Lady and the Tramp.
  • "Girls' Day Out"
    • When Dolly presses her face up against the hairdryer whilst ignoring Delilah, she starts to resemble Judge Dredd.
    • At one point, Delilah called Clarissa [[“The Powerpuff Girls (1998)” Princess Powderpuff]].
  • "Flea-Mageddon"
    • The whole episode is a parody of the zombie film genre.
    • The title could be a reference to [[Film/Armageddon]].
    • When Dylan realizes Dante has fleas, before he lowers Dante into the basement, he tells him, "I love you," to which Dante responds, "I know," a reference to an exchange between Princess Leia and Han Solo in The Empire Strikes Back.
    • Dylan performs a homage to "Thriller" to attract the fleas.
  • "Fear Window" is a parody of the Alfred Hitchcock film Rear Window.
  • Spike's introduction in "A Summer To Remember" may be a homage to Honey Ryder's entrance in Dr. No. Him introducing himself with "The name's Spike... just Spike," may also be a reference to James Bond's signature introduction.
  • "Long Tongue Day"
    • To combat the summer heat, Dylan calls for the pool, only to cause a large pile of puppies in a rather small paddling pool. Dylan comments, "We're going to need a bigger pool," possibly a reference to the line "We're going to need a bigger boat" from Jaws.
    • When Dolly and Dylan are making the other animals of Camden think there's a kraken in the pond, Dolly sneaks under the water to act out some "kraken attacks." The scene cuts to her looming below a duck, with the shot resembling the Jaws film poster.
  • In "London, We Have a Problem," when Hunter chases the Dalmatians through the house, he sticks his face through the bedroom's doggie door at one point, in a manner similar to the "Here's Johnny" scene from Stanley Kubrick's The Shining.
  • In "Don't Push Your Luck," during the third round of the skating tournament, Hansel makes an AKIRA bike slide on his skateboard.
  • The episode title "The Walls are Alive" may be a reference to the lyrics "The hills are alive" from the titular song of The Sound of Music.
    • When Dolly and Déjà Vu are walking up the stairs of the house, the wallpaper resembles the carpets in the Overlook Hotel from The Shining.
  • In "Ride Along," Dolly holds a rubber duck up to Dylan and says "Ya feeling lucky, pup!?"
  • The plot of "Yappily Ever After" is one large homage to Cinderella, with even Sid commenting on the similarities when Dylan steps in as Dolly's Fairy Dog-mother, as well as Dolly commenting how she prefers her skateboard to a pumpkin.
  • In "D-Factor," Dylan gets paint poured on him during his comedy act and freaks out in a homage to Carrie.
  • The title "The De Vil Wears Puppies" is an obvious reference to The Devil Wears Prada.
  • When we see the puppies in Diesel's tunnel in "The De Vil Wears Puppies," the Ark of the Covenant can also be seen buried in the ground.
