- A Large Rat (any any boss portraits that are edits of its own) resembles Rattata.
- The Skeleton boss' portrait references the Skeleton Trumpet meme.
- The Goblin shares a name with a character from Lost Mine of Phandelver, a Dungeons & Dragons campaign.
- Slow Zombie's portrait references the Basic Zombie of Plants vs. Zombies
- The Fast Zombie is from Half-Life 2.
- Rat Of Unusual Size references The Princess Bride.
- The Fairy's "Hey! Listen!" references Navi from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

- The Rat God's portrait looks like the background of the music video of Eminem's Rap God.
- Massive Plant Monster looks like Plantera from Terraria.

- The description for A Square Bear tells you to "not mistake this for a Carebear".

- The Metal Slime from Dragon Quest appears, though it is not an example of the trope.
- A Ginormous Sword references Ginormo Sword, and features one of its Neko Slimes.

- The "Robot Masters" arc is an homage to Mega Man, in which you team up with a "funky looking robot-guy with hipster length blonde hair". though the bosses themselves quickly depart from the Mega Man style. The Masters include:

- The Space Gun that drops from Titan 10 bears the same name, general appearance, and color scheme as the Space Gun from Terraria. The caption also refers to the Terraria version's 'Pew Pew' sound.
- Titan 10 also drops a Red Shirt and The Cricket, with the latter's description referencing one of Will Smith's lines from the first movie.
