Mamoru and the girls are invited to attend a lavish ball which is hosted by a foreign vampire who's obsessed with rosy futures. Everyone is excited to attend but Usagi is dreading the event as a majority of the conversations will be discussed in English. If only there was a party-crashing witch who could magically appear and save Usagi from embarrassing herself!
Tropes in this episode include:
- Achievements in Ignorance: In her drunken state, Usagi impresses Mamoru's university friends by comparing the theory of relativity to making pudding.
- All for Nothing: Mamoru brings up to Michiru how it's pointless to sacrifice so much for a rosy future if there's no one to inherit that future afterwards.
- Be Careful What You Wish For: After narrowly avoiding the giant musical notes thrown at her, Sailor Moon complains that the Daimon should at least use actual music to attack. Chikuon complies with her request and plays another vinyl disc which plays "Yodel of the Devil": a strenuous musical piece that attacks the central nervous system.
- Big Fancy House: Edwards lives in a big fancy mansion just outside the city where he holds fabulous balls for all to attend.
- Bittersweet Ending: On the sweet side, the Inner girls get to enjoy the party while Usagi gets to have a waltz with Mamoru. On the bitter side, the Outers converse with themselves about the upcoming Silence and how they still need to find the Talismans.
- Broken Record: After being invited to Edwards' party, Usagi switches being super excited to attend the party while fretting over having to practice her English skills.
- Call-Back: Minako proves to be a pro at English speaking given her past experience in England.
- Diegetic Soundtrack Usage: "Tuxedo Mirage" plays during the second waltz which the Inner girls miss out on.
- Digging Yourself Deeper: After Mamoru points out that the girls came to his apartment to exploit his air conditioner, Rei admits that he also makes great herbal tea.
- Dub-Induced Plotline Change: Given that the plot point of Japanese teens having to engage in English would be difficult to carry over for the Western audiences, the Cloverway and Viz Dub went for alternative routes.
- In Cloverway, Edwards is from France with the language of interest being French.
- In the Viz Dub, the focus was more on speaking refined English.
- Dub Name Change: The Cloverway dub renamed Edwards “Edouard” to match his new nationality.
- Dreadful Musician: Eudial seems dubious of Dr. Tomoe’s attemots at writing a waltz.
- Even the Girls Want Her: Haruka proves to be so popular for her waltz skills that she gets a crowd of ladies and gentlemen asking her to be their next partner.
- Failed Attempt at Drama: Eudial tries to look cool after summoning her Daimon into battle. But the drama is ruined by the Chikuon having trouble moving around in her fancy dress.
- Fairy Tale Motifs: The Inner Guardians namedrop various fairy tales during their In the Name of the Moon speech: Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Swan Lake, as all three stories feature parties. Cloverway replaced the reference to Swan Lake with Snow White. Viz surprisingly runs with this and throws Hansel and Gretel into the mix.
- Frothy Mugs of Water: All mentions of alcohol and drunkenness are erased in the Cloverway dub with Amy declaring that Serena drank too much "juice".
- Gratuitous English: Edwards along with the foreign guests speak basic English. The Inner Girls minus Usagi also get a few words in.
- Gratuitous French: The Scouts, Edwards, and his guests in Cloverway use easy to understand French.
- Here We Go Again!: To Ami's embarrassment, her friends get into another rock-paper-scissors competition to see who will dance with Haruka in the episode's end.

- Mamoru has a variety of books that contain advanced educational topics to learn about. He admits that he didn't want to limit himself to learning only one thing so he got them all.
- Professor Tomoe composed his own epic orchestra score in his youth.
- Minako shows even more adeptness at speaking English than Ami, given Minako spent so much time in England as Sailor V. Ami's pronunciation is clear while her speech is stilted; Minako's is flawless and casual.
- Hidden in Plain Sight: Eudial casually shows up to the ball while the Inner girls are arguing over their rock paper scissors game.
- History Repeats: Once again Usagi attends a beautiful ball, dances with a princely guest and ends up getting drunk.
- Hope Bringer: Edwards considers every one of his young patrons to be symbols of hopes who will create a beautiful future for everyone to enjoy.
- Hypocritical Humor: Usagi is initially against Michiru dancing with her Mamoru. But she gives in after Haruka offers to dance with her.
- I Just Want to Be Normal: Played for Laughs. Makoto happily notices how all the guys at the ball are taller then her.
- Impractically Fancy Outfit: Chikuon wears a fancy blue dress which makes it hard for her to move around.
- Innocently Insensitive: Makoto praises Mamoru for his academic interests by describing him as a "jerk of all trades and master of none"; Mamoru sheepishly admits that it isn't a compliment.
- Instant Sedation: Eudial sets off a smoke bomb that knocks out everyone at the party leaving Edwards for easy picking.
- Intoxication Ensues: After accidentally drinking a glass of alcohol mistaking it for juice, Usagi gets incredibly drunk while gaining the confidence to speak with Mamoru's foreign friends.
- Keep It Foreign: To fit with the theme of the girls practicing a foreign language in Cloverway, English is changed to French. Though the language barrier is downplayed in the Viz dub, Edwards is regarded as an English gentleman and Makoto accidentally dips into Italian when greeting him.Makoto: Bonjourno!Rei: Usagi's not the only one who needs to study.
- Lonely at the Top: Mamoru reveals to Michiru that Edwards was once a powerful businessman who was driven to obtain a lavish fortune to call his own. But he realized that he had no friends or family to share his successes, thus making him realize he didn't want to endure a lonely future.
- Mad Bomber: Chikuon's first attack involves throwing glowing blue roses that explode on impact.
- Mass "Oh, Crap!": Usagi, along with Rei and Makoto, are worried about having to speak English/French at the party.
- Musical Assassin: In her second form, Chikuon is able to produce giant musical notes to pummel the Guardians. She can also change the frequency to make the noise lethally unbearable to the listeners.
- Not Quite Dead: The Outers leave the scene after Uranus presumably kills the Chikuon. But she turns out to be alive and bearing a second form.
- Not So Above It All: After Usagi begins dancing with Haruka, this causes Rei, Makoto, and Minako to play rock-paper-scissors to decide who dances with Haruka next, to Ami's embarrassment. A minute later Ami has joined the game.
- Sexy Slit Dress: Eudial wears a burgundy qipao dress when crashing the fancy ball.
