I think I'm an angel because I've fallen for you.

“Ahh, here I am enjoying a perfect evening, sharing my First Kiss with Tuxedo Mask in the glow of the moonlight. It couldn't get any more romantic. And then Nephrite comes along to RUIN my magical moment! Unforgivable! I am Sailor Moon! And In the Name of the Moon, I'll punish you!”
Usagi Tsukino

(DiC Episode: "Worth A Princess's Ransom")

A fabulous ball is held by the Kingdom of Diamonds where they will bestow their princess their greatest treasure. This inspires the heroines and Nephrite to infiltrate the party believing that they'll find the lost princess and the Legendary Silver Crystal respectively. And during the ball, Usagi gets to have her fairy tale moment with Tuxedo Mask.

Tropes in this episode include:

  • Adults Are Useless: Apparently Ms. Osaka decided to send her 14-year-old daughter to represent her in the Diamond Embassy, completely alone alongside total adult strangers. This makes her the perfect target for Nephrite to sucker into his next plan.
  • Bowdlerise:
    • Probably to prevent it from being tried at home, the Parasol Parachute scene was re-edited for the DiC dub so that Tuxedo Mask merely pulls Serena up and bids her to go downstairs.
    • The final scene was changed from Mamoru taking advantage of a drunk Usagi to being a dream Serena was having.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Naru and Princess Diamond become this after they're possessed by Nephrite's dark shadow. They even get purple skin as a side effect.
  • Call-Back: Nephrite goes through with his decision to manipulate Naru using her love for him.
  • Casting a Shadow: Nephrite infuses his dark shadow onto Naru to turn her into an obedient servant.
  • Ditch the Bodyguards: The brainwashed Princess Diamond abandons her bodyguards with the three men not knowing what to do in this situation since they never covered this in bodyguard school.
  • First Kiss: Usagi gets her first kiss with Tuxedo Mask this episode. Too bad she was unconscious for it.
  • Freak Out: Princess Diamond has a freak out moment when Luna talks to her, confirming that she's not the princess.
  • Glamour: The magic of Usagi's princess disguise fools her dad into thinking that she's a unique but stellar woman.
Kenji: She looks like Usagi. I wonder if my girl will grow up to be as pretty as her one day.
  • Goal in Life: Tuxedo Mask's mission is to find the Legendary Silver Crystal and recover his missing memories.
  • Hidden Depths: Princess Diamond has a lot of self-image issues due to her family heirloom being considered more valuable and attention-grabbing over her. She even believes that she's the accessory to the treasure.
  • Intoxication Ensues: Usagi picks up a drink believing it to be fruit punch only to end up drunk.
  • Manipulative Bitch: Queen Beryl allows Nephrite to look into the Legendary Secret Treasure even though finding the Silver Crystal is Zoisite's mission. Her reason being that Nephrite is getting desperate and he'll have to succeed otherwise he'll meet a grim demise.
  • Masquerade Ball: The Kingdom of Diamonds hold an extravagant ball to celebrate their first daughter inheriting their family heirloom and the guests even wear masks as they dance.
  • Opaque Nerd Glasses: Princess Diamond has big swirly glasses, like the ones Umino wears. Without them, she looks like your normal, generic anime girl.
  • Parasol Parachute: With Luna's help, Usagi and Tuxedo Mask manage to safely fall from a three story balcony.
  • Pimped-Out Dress: Usagi uses the Disguise Pen to turn into a princess with a beautiful floral dress.
  • Red Herring: Princess Diamond (who has no relation to Prince Demande) is initially believed to be the Lost Princess that Luna was after for so long along with her fabled secret crystal. Turns out she's just a regular human girl and the treasure is a diamond cut statue modeled after her first ancestor.
  • Sinister Silhouettes: Kunzite's face is covered in shadows while comforting Zoisite.
  • Skewed Priorities: Luna believes that Usagi using the Disguise Pen to turn a princess is just so she can get into the party. Though Usagi justifies herself saying that it's to help infiltrate the embassy so she can meet the Princess.
  • Understanding Boyfriend: Kunzite comforts his Zoisite who's sulking over Nephrite taking over his assignment. Kunzite assures him that they can dispose of Nephrite any time they wish.
  • What Is This Feeling?: While dancing with Tuxedo Mask, Usagi notices that she feels something familiar whenever she's with the man of her dreams.
  • With Us or Against Us: Sailor Mercury asks Tuxedo Mask if he's on their side or if he's an enemy. He cryptically retorts that he could very well fit the latter.
