Art by Crash X Fusion: Youth is wasted on the young.
A magical mishap has made an unexpected switch between the Owl House residents. Now they must settle their conflicts while looking for the missing Skara.

Tropes that appear in this Chapter:

  • Adaptational Early Appearance: Head Witch Eberwolf of the Beast Keeping Coven debuts here between the events of "Echoes of the Past" and "Keeping Up A-fear-ances", rather than "Hunting Palismen".
  • Astonishingly Appropriate Interruption: Before Luz can question Gus' outburst about her acting like she's his mother, Willow calls to inform her she's discovered the werewolf's identity.
  • Big "WHAT?!": Willow has a mental one when she learns her dads smoked as students.
  • Bridal Carry: Yet again, Luz carries Amity in her arms while traveling using her wings.
  • Broken Aesop: King turns back to normal at the same time as everyone else, but the lesson he seems to have learned raises questions for him:
King: I learned what it's like to be a prop baby! I just do absolutely nothing but be cute... wait, that was my lesson?
  • The Bus Came Back: Darryl, the coven guard from "The Rescue", appears as a speaker during the anti-fae assembly.
  • Call-Back:
    • The events on Pleasure Island are brought up.
    • Luz tells Amity about how she was afraid the latter would find Wendy more attractive than her.
    • Willow brings up Boscha helping her and her friends in "Blindsided": Boscha claims she only did that for revenge against her mom.
    • The way Luz comforts teen Lilith after telling her about her breakup with Odalia is the same way Lilith comforted baby Amity in the flashback of the book's prologue. Heck, the dialogue is similar since the adults are both reassuring their respective child and themselves by saying things will be okay.
  • The Cameo:
    • Dolly briefly appears trying to contact her master.
    • Sandra shows up to bail Mattholomule out of mall jail.
    • Coven Head Eberwolf appears at the end of the chapter to report to the Golden Guard about what happened to the werewolf.
  • Change the Uncomfortable Subject: Gus tries to weasel out of talking about him ending up in mall jail by asking Luz how she got older. Luz doesn't take the bait.
  • Closet Key: Luz reveals that Wendy was her first crush to be a girl, which helped her discover her orientation. For Amity, it was Willow.
  • Code Name: To keep Odalia from realizing who she is Amity gives her a fake name, "May White".
  • Continuity Nod:
    • Newt Burger is physically shown for the first time.
    • The name "Linda" is used as an alias for a Clawthorne again.
  • Contrived Coincidence: Odalia is at the mall at the same time as the Owl House residents come to get Gus, so teen Eda is more than happy to mess with her, forcing adult Amity to talk with her.
  • Cuteness Proximity: Luz briefly gushes over Baby King, having always wondered what he looked like before regaining focus on the problem at hand.
  • Deadly Euphemism: Nicole places a bounty on the werewolf for attacking Boscha, demanding it be euthanized (meaning put down).
  • Distracted by My Own Sexy: Adult Luz is more than happy to admire her new muscles while wearing one of Eda's sleeveless dresses.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: Luz also constantly brings up how hot Amity looks as an adult. Amity, on the other hand, has to look away flushed when she first sees how tight Eda's dress fits Luz's aged-up figure.
  • Faceā€“Heel Turn: Gus seems to be starting to undergo one thanks to his anger and the infuence of his new "friends".
  • Foregone Conclusion: While she was still friends with Willow as kids, Amity had a small crush on her that she ignored so it wouldn't ruin their friendship. By the time it did go away, that already happened.
  • Fountain of Youth: Due to a botched aging spell, Eda and Lilith turn back into teenagers (their memories going up to when they respectively ran away from home and got accepted into the Emperor's Coven) while King turns into a baby. It's played in the opposite for Luz and Amity, who are aged up 30 years.
  • The Ghost: The Glandus trio is mentioned by Sandra as the ones who pushed Gus and Mattholomule into shoplifting.
  • Given Name Reveal: During the broadcast about the werewolf apparently being a fake, the head Demon Hunter's (who took the blame) name is said to be Kevin "Eyepatch" Stonetooth.
  • Hairstyle Inertia: Luz retains her new haircut when she becomes a 44-year-old woman.
  • Improvised Weapon: Teen Eda threatens to use baby King against adult Luz and Amity thinking they kidnapped her and Lilith.
  • Internal Reveal:
    • Willow, Luz, Amity, and Gus learn that Skara's the werewolf. The Shadowy Secret Expozers figure it out after Slasher hires them to find the werewolf.
    • The Inner Demon tells Skara about her unintentionally helping his plans, along with stating Dolly was the one who gave Boscha Amity's memory photo.
    • Luz properly meets Sandra for the first time.
    • Minor: Willow learns from Teen Eda that Gilbert and Sully smoked weed when they were still attending Hexside.
  • Jerkass Ball: Gus has a strong grip on it in this chapter. He gets angry that Luz of all people is lecturing him for shoplifting even though she wants to understand why he did it, he tells Teen Lilith he wouldn't have forgiven her if he was Eda, he still believes Luz forgave Amity for her deception too easily and he's annoyed that Luz told Eda about the incident at the mall and now she has to explain his month-long ban to his father.
  • Lampshade Hanging: King questions the lesson he learned.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: For placing a bounty on Skara in her werewolf state, Nicole gets attacked by Calypso's snake and is left with bite marks on her face.
  • Lazy Alias: While out in public, adult Luz dubs teen Eda and Lilith "Linda" and "Lydia", respectively. When she has to talk with her mother, adult Amity goes with the first name she can think of, "May White".
  • Little Sister Instinct: Scabrina breaks from her usual, composed self to tell Skara she's glad she's safe and says she'll make sure no one takes her again.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: It seems the Inner Demon doesn't keep Dolly informed on all his plans, since she had no clue where he was at the time.
  • Luminescent Blush: Teen Lilith's whole face turns red when she sees Odalia as an adult.
  • Mama Bear: After Skara is saved, Calypso pays Nicole a visit for a "talk" about putting her daughter's life in danger.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Skara blames herself for Amity suffering at the hands of the Inner Demon when he tells her she had an unknowing hand in helping Inner Amity burn her memories and Luz and Amity's breakup.
  • Never Say "Die": Averted to some degree. While "die" is never said, everyone knows "euthanized" is just another word for it.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Luz ends up blurting out the truth about Lilith cursing Eda in front of the two teens, causing Eda to curse out her sister and run upstairs in tears.
  • Noodle Incident: Darryl was once stuffed into a potato sack, repeatedly slammed and beaten while his attacker told him he'll never amount to anything.
  • Not Me This Time: When Willow asks Boscha for help in finding Skara, Boscha says she had nothing to do with her disappearance. Willow points out she's not accusing her of it.
  • Not So Stoic: Scabrina. She takes a moment to hug her big sister relieved that she's home.
  • Oh, Crap!: Luz and Amity scream after they see each other as grown-ups. Amity later has an internal one when she sees that teen Eda pranked Odalia.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business:
    • Based on how Skara tenses up and thinks another imposter has come for her, Scabrina never hugs her or shows concern, much less emotion. That's just how scared she was for her big sister.
    • Calypso is actually sober when she confronts Nicole to pay her back for placing a bounty on Skara.
  • Out-of-Character Alert: Luz has never used Gus' real name, having given him his nickname to avoid using it. So the fact that she says it when confronting him in mall jail speaks volumes about how mad she is at him.
  • Palette Swap: For the duration of the spell's effect, adult Luz wears a blue version of Eda's usual outfit.
  • Parents as People: The chapter revolves around this a lot.
    • Luz spends the entirety of the chapter having to take responsibility, experiencing what Eda went through raising her and growing to understand it better which is the lesson she had to learn for the aging spell to change her back to normal.
    • Odalia, talking to adult!Amity, admits she blames herself more than her youngest daughter for her recent actions, saying parenting is about trying to make sure she does what's best for her children and that she's hard on them because she cares, wanting to be a better parent than her own.
  • Plot-Relevant Age-Up: Luz and Amity are turned into adults due to the aging spell being botched.
  • Point of Divergence: Luz and Amity wonder if things with Puck would've been different if they introduced him to the rest of their friends, believing they'd have gotten along with him.
  • Propaganda Piece: Luz and Amity skip the assembly the Emperor's Coven holds because they see it as one the EC use to spread Anti-Fae propaganda.
  • The Reveal:
    • The Emperor's Coven has been visiting schools to give presentations on fae awareness ever since the Pleasure Island incident.
    • Luz's first female crush was Wendy and she believes Dipper still has a thing for her. Meanwhile Willow was Amity's first crush, period but she repressed her feelings so it wouldn't ruin their friendship.
    • Eyepatch's real name is Kevin Stonetooth.
  • Saying Too Much: Nicole lets slip that she knew the werewolf was female to Boscha. She tells her daughter to ignore it by telling her they're going to get her scratch checked, but Boscha knows she's hiding something.
  • The Scapegoat: To throw the Emperor's Guard off the Brookes' trail, the Shadowy Secret Expozers put Eyepatch in a werewolf costume (that they confiscated from a previous culprit) so he'll take the fall.
  • Screw This, I'm Out of Here!: After watching Luz and Amity plow through her associates, the purple-haired demon hunter decides to get the heck out of dodge.
  • Secret-Keeper: The Shadowy Secret Expozers agree to keep what they learned about the Brookes to themselves, along with Luz and Amity. The SSE admit it's not the first time they had to keep a client safe by doing this.
  • She's All Grown Up: Teen Eda and Lilith are stunned when they see what Raine and Odalia look like in present day.
  • Shout-Out: The name adult Amity uses while confronting her mother is "May White", her canon voice actress.
  • Sitting on the Roof: Luz and Amity decide to hang out on the school's roof while ditching the anti-fae assembly.
  • Stacy's Mom: Because she's been aged down to a teenager, Lilith still has feelings for Odalia who's now a mother to three children in the present.
  • Time Travel: Teen Eda briefly believes she and Lilith ended up in the future while adult Luz and Amity try to explain everything to them.
  • The Un-Reveal: The imposter's true identity remains in the dark for now.
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: Upon seeing Luz and Amity as 44-year-old women and King as a baby, Hooty calls it "business as usual" and goes back to doing his own thing.
  • Wham Episode: Luz begins taking counseling sessions with Ms. Traveler, Amity decides to start opening up to Lilith again and Skara is turned back to normal and brought home. As it turns out, the Inner Demon using Skara was just a way to set his other plans up.
  • When the Clock Strikes Twelve: Everyone only gets until midnight to learn a life lesson, and the lesson depends on the individual. Otherwise, they'll be stuck in their altered ages forever. Luckily, that doesn't happen.
