Salamandra is an original fictional story written by gelefant.

It focuses on the origins and exploits of the Mexican superheroine Salamandra, her allies, and her enemies.

    Tropes A to F 
  • Animal-Themed Superbeing:
    • After being bitten by a magical fire salamander, Adalia gains salamander-themed powers and dons a costume emblazoned with a salamander symbol.
    • After being stung by a genetically engineered jellyfish, Cassiopeia gains jellyfish-themed powers and dons a jellyfish-themed costume.
  • Bank Robbery: At the beginning of "Creepy Good," Lillith and Luna foil one of these.
  • Bespectacled Cutie: Adalia wears glasses and is described as a beautiful person inside and out. Specifically, she cares about everybody and easily makes friends.
  • Breath Weapon: Adalia gains the ability to breathe fire as one of her powers.
  • Casting a Shadow: Lillith can control dark energy as well as regular darkness and shadows.
  • Creepy Cemetery: During the second half of "Creepy Good," Jermaine, Lillith, and Luna visit a cemetery that's haunted by at least one ghost.
  • Creepy Good: In the chapter of the same name, Lillith is considered creepy by others because of her Casting a Shadow and Soul Power abilities but is firmly on the side of good.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Lillith has Casting a Shadow and Soul Power abilities and wears a gray, hooded robe but remains a heroine nonetheless.
  • Deadpan Snarker:
    • In "Fiery Salamander," both Adalia and Cassiopeia are described as being very sarcastic.
    • In "Creepy Good," Lillith is also described this way.
  • Dreadlock Warrior: Cassiopeia wears her hair in a bun and dreadlocks and becomes very powerful and strong after gaining her superpowers.
  • Electric Black Girl: Cassiopeia is a young, African-American woman who gains electrical abilities.
  • Fainting: After Adalia defeats her with Super-Speed, Cassiopeia faints.
  • Fiery Salamander: Adalia is bitten by one of these and gains superpowers as a result. Bonus points for it being an actual fire salamander.

  • Lack of Empathy: Cassiopeia is described as having no empathy for others.
  • Light 'em Up: Cassiopeia gains the ability to generate light as one of her powers.
  • Light Is Not Good: Cassiopeia gains the ability to generate light and later dons a light blue-and-white costume. She uses her powers to injure and/or kill people.
  • Loners Are Freaks: Lillith mostly keeps to herself and is considered creepy by others because of her Casting a Shadow and Soul Power abilities.
  • Lunacy: Luna has magical, moon-themed powers and wears a moon-themed costume.
  • Making a Splash: Adalia gains the ability control water as one of her powers.
  • Mind Rape: Lillith subjects the bank robber to something terrifying in the pocket dimension inside her cloak. He emerges battered and shell shocked.
  • Nice Girl: As mentioned above, Adalia is described as being beautiful inside and out, caring about everyone, and making friends easily.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: After Jermaine and Luna's You Are Not Alone speech at the end of "Creepy Good," Lillith hugs them both. Jermaine and Luna are shocked and speechless because Lillith never hugs anybody.
  • Our Ghosts Are Different: During the second half of "Creepy Good," a male ghost who's bluish white approaches and talks to Lillith after she retreats to a cemetery.
  • Origins Episode: For Salamandra herself.
  • Pink Is Feminine: Adalia's costume as Salamandra contains a fair amount of pink, and she's more feminine than Cassiopeia.
  • Playing with Fire: Adalia gains the ability to breathe and control fire as one of her powers.
  • Poisonous Person: Both Adalia and Cassiopeia gain the ability to generate poison as one of their powers.
  • Psycho Electro: Cassiopeia is a Sadist who later gains electrical abilities.
  • The Quiet One: Luna is described as never saying much.

  • Ray Gun: The bank robber in "Creepy Good" is armed with and uses two laser guns.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: In "Creepy Good," Lillith's eyes glow blood red right before she subjects the bank robber to a Mind Rape. They glow red again not long after he's defeated.
  • Sadist: Cassiopeia is described as deriving joy from the suffering of others.
  • Shock and Awe: Cassiopeia gains the ability to generate electricity as one of her powers.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Three to Teen Titans (2003), all of which happen in "Creepy Good."
      • Lillith's appearance, personality and powers are based on those of Raven.
      • The first half of the story plays out virtually the same as the episode "Nevermore."
      • The second half of the story takes cues from the episode "Spellbound."
    • Luna's outfit (a tank top, a skirt, elbow-length gloves, and thigh-high boots) and powers are reminiscent of Sailor Moon.
  • Smug Super: After getting her powers, Cassiopeia goes around blinding, electrocuting, and poisoning people just because she can.
  • Soul Power: Lillith can control ghostly energy.
  • Super-Speed: Adalia gains this ability when she gets her powers, and it's how she ultimately defeats Cassiopeia during their fight in the middle of their college campus since Cass can't move that nimbly or quickly.
  • You Are Not Alone: At the end of "Creepy Good," Jermaine and Luna let Lillith know/remind Lillith that she's their friend and that they care about her.
    Jermaine: I know you needed to get away for a bit, but why come to a cemetery?
    Lillith: I actually feel like myself among the ghosts and graves. I can just be...me.
    Jermaine: I understand, but that doesn't mean you have to be alone.
    Luna: We're your friends, and we care about you so much.
