Lloyd's Route

    Chapter 1
  • Lloyd, Wazy, and Noel get to see how overprotective Erika is of Tita against Agate.
  • Estelle flirting with Joshua with Estelle picking an ice cream from Joshua's face with her finger and eating it, much to Joshua's embarrassment. They had a great atmosphere going until Lloyd, Wazy, and Noel come by, causing Estelle herself to get embarrassed at being seen.
  • Before Wald is properly introduced, he's referred to as "Cockscombed Blowhard". And then there's what he says in response to Wazy's antics:
Squire Wald: I feel like my brain needs a shower now.
  • Wazy tries to interrogate Lloyd about who's he's closest with. After going through the other members, to the embarrassment of the girls...
Wazy: Or could it be that you've been saving yourself and eagerly waiting for me to return?
Lloyd: A-all right, that's enough of this. Can you please give me some space?
Noel: Knock it off already, Wazy! This conversation ends here!

    Chapter 4
  • Before entering the Moon Temple, Estelle brags about how she's gotten over her fear of ghosts. After the group enters, this Active Voice message plays:
Estelle: EEEK! *squeeze* Joshua, I think something's over th—
Joshua: That's just a stain on the wall, Estelle. What happened to 'being over them for ages', huh?
Machias: (This place would give me the jitters if we didn't have them around to lighten the mood.)
Estelle: -C-K-I-N-G your ASS if you keep that up, Randy!

Rean's Route

    Chapter 2
  • Millium goes over and gives her little sister a hug, leading to this response, in classic Altina deadpan:
Altina: Please remove yourself from around my neck.

    Chapter 4
  • Mishneider in general. For how serious the situation is supposed to be, he does little more than drain the tension.
  • Juna seems to be the only one who takes him remotely seriously. While she's seems upset over his death, the rest of Class VII are having a hard time registering what they just went through. Then there's the girls, barring Celine, still hung up on Mishneider when approaching the Castle of Mirrors. Rean whispers to Celine that its performance was just that moving.
Crow: Are we sure that this isn't some kind of event?

C's Route

    Chapter 1
  • C's sudden laughter gets this response:
Nadia: You doing okay? Those mushrooms you eat on the way here start to kick in or something?

    Chapter 2
  • Lapis downs a ton of plates and then asks for more when Nadia tells her to stop it and convinces her to go somewhere else to eat some more.
  • Nadia talking with C, and saying that if he ever tries to hurt Swin she will make him pay. After they talk a bit more, she says she is starting to like him a bit, but not in the romantic sense because she has someone in her heart already. C takes the opportunity to tease her by asking if that's alright because Swin only sees her as a little sister, leaving Nadia clearly frustrated.
  • When the newly formed ILF try to introduce themselves to Rean's group at Mater Park, Nadia and Swin roll with it, calling themselves 9 and 3 respectively, after C introduces himself and when it's Lapis' turn, she ends up stumbling her words with C chuckling. Later on, when they encounter rogue elements from the Imperial Army smuggling provisions to Crossbell, Lapis starts introducing themselves when C just outright tells them that they don't need to know who they are, with Lapis getting bullied yet again.
  • Upon running into Crow Armbrust, the original C, C asks if he's here to dispute ownership of the letter.
  • As featured in the demo movie, when C and his group are making their escape from Rean's group, C grabs Lapis under his arm before jumping on the airship. Once he's landed, Lapis, still being carried, is shown angrily flailing her arms and proclaiming "This is no way to treat a lady!" In the game proper, it turns out that Rufus is lugging her around like baggage in this scene as his mask breaks at this point.

    Chapter 3
  • When Jingo tries to make Cerberus (a dog) pilot the plane, Swin (who was giving Nadia a Lap Pillow) immediately goes back to the cockpit and call her out on it.
  • Jingo calling the new ILF "a father taking his kids out on a picnic." Even better, Nadia refers to the team as the Imperial Picnicking Front and it sticks.
  • Once they are in Crossbell, C's party goes around the place and they end up in the fishing guild. Lapis is curious about what fishing is and gets excited at it, asking if she can fish too. Everyone's reaction is to Sweat Drop because she might be carried by the fish instead due to her size.
  • After being saved by Renne, she takes C's party (and at this point, Rufus isn't wearing his C mask) to Imelda's store to hide for a bit. Imelda comes back and when the camera pans, Rufus immediately manages to put on his mask with no one noticing. After exiting her shop, Rufus takes off the mask and just uses the RAMDA to turn himself invisible.
  • Throughout the chapter, the player is required to have C not as party leader if the player is trying to shop because Rufus is invisible and isn't exactly the guy who should be running around in public since his other self is running around being Crossbell's dictator. Which makes it more hilarious that the only place he can shop without needing to switch to other characters is at Ashleigh's Neinvalli store because Lapis ends up spilling the beans due to Ashleigh claiming that she has to deal with four customers. She then ends up getting worried for them if they can even do anything underground.

    Chapter 4
  • At the start of the chapter, Lapis brags to Nadia, Swin, and Renne at how Rufus saved her and gave meaning to her life at the climax of chapter 3. Everyone else tells Lapis that they've heard this story so many times already since Lapis kept repeating it over and over again. Then when the player has control, Lapis retells the story through the Active Voice Event.
    • How did Rufus even find her from all the buried Lapis dolls? Turns out, Rufus put a transmitter on her. Both Swin and Renne then claim that it's for the best if Lapis never finds out the truth.
  • At the climax of the duel between Rufus and Duvalie, Rufus uses his ARCUS to cast an Ivy Nail to distract Duvalie before he goes in for the blow that ends the duel. Nadia comments that it was dirty.
  • In this Active Voice Event when trying to reach Ian, Lapis' Running Gag of giving points based on cuteness may have reached a head.
Lapis: There's no charm to be found! Not in the building, not in the furniture, and not even in the dolls! I give it all 0 points!
Nadia: Tough break! That's even lower than when the boss went by C!
Swin: ...What do you expect from a prison?

Shared Events

    Victory Link Quotes
  • Never go in debt with Rean.
Crow: Hey now, I think I've paid you back at this point, yeah?
Rean: With my interest rate, you'll be lucky if you ever pay it off.
  • Duvalie doesn't want to attend Renne's tea parties.
Renne: Miss Swift, would you care to attend one of my tea parties?
Duvalie: I know of your tea parties and no. No, I would not like to attend.
  • Millium may have rubbed off on Altina.
Millium: We take a Tilly and a Milly, a Lammy and a Sammy, and you've got all you need to go whammy-whammy-whammy!
Altina: I suppose... we are a suitable enough duo to have earned a theme song.
  • Just when you thought Tio was over her A-Cup Angst...
Tio: *stares* Maybe in a few years, I'll get to be like you.
Rixia: Uhh, I... hope that's related to battle?
  • Rufus'd better be careful with the Angel of Slaughter.
Rufus: That scythe won't be slicing my neck off anytime soon, now will it?
Renne: Well, the answer to that is up to you.
  • Angelica is still obsessed over Tita.
Angelica: Oh my sweet angel, give me a hug, and help me recharge.
Tita: Aha, I guess... I guess a quick one is fine.
  • Estelle has a nostalgic episode.
Estelle: High five, Renne! I've been running low on my cute little sis quota!
Renne: Please, Estelle, I'm... I'm not that little anymore.
  • Toval is curious on how things are with Joshua and Estelle.
Toval: Oh yeah! How are things goin' with Estelle, huh?
Joshua: Ahahaha... sorry, she might kill me if I spill.
  • Duvalie hates playing the babysitter.
McBurn: *yawn* I'll let you handle the cleanup.
Duvalie: ARRRRGHH! Will someone else babysit this buffoon? I can't take this!
  • Duvalie finds it hard to compliment Rean.
Duvalie: I suppose you've improved... some.. I guess.
Rean: Thanks, but you can just be nice without all the backtracking, you know.
  • Fie and Juna discover their joke doesn't work out loud.
Fie: Unite Juna and Fie to spell...
Juna: Unify... eee... crap. That joke only works written down.
  • The Group Missions, requiring the player to complete certain objectives with certain character groups, gives special post-battle conversations:
    • Team Big Sticks: featuring Estelle, Randy, Gaius, and Ash. The former three picking a fight with each other on which of their weapons is the strongest (stick, stun halberd, and spear respectively) with Ash wondering if this is how adults act.
    • Team Androgyny: Wazy comments that Swin and Kurt would look good in an Elegant Gothic Lolita outfit and a schoolgirl uniform respectively. This startles the latter two as they actually did dress up exactly as Wazy mentioned before. Joshua wonders if Wazy is using his authority to snoop on Swin and Kurt's past activities, to which Wazy replies that he was just guessing. Wazy proceeds to suggest Joshua to dress up as a maid, to which Swin and Kurt immediately object.
    • Team Magical Girls: Alisa, Juna, Musse, and Altina do the pose of their magical girl counterparts. Musse and Juna seems into it, while Alisa and Altina looks rather embarrassed. Alisa even comments that she gets the whole magical girl schtick from a dream. On the other hand, Rean just stands there watching the girls, commenting that his right arm throbs for some reason, alluding to his Dark Prince Rean counterpart.
    • Team Slack Attack: Celine plays the straight man to Tio, Fie, Altina, Nadia, and McBurn.
Tio: Enemy eliminated... Talk about a slog. note
Fie: *yawn* You're telling me. I'm wiped after all that fighting.
Altina: Perhaps a short break is in order then.
Nadia: Bleh... I'm always down for a break. Hold down the fort for us, 'kay, Celine?
McBurn: *yawn* Just wake me up if anything that'll spark my interest shows.
Celine: You're all nothing but a bunch of slackers! Let ME take a cat nap once in a while!
    • Team Lil' Sis Havers: Millium asks Juna, Vita and Noel about how to make Altina call her "big sis". Unfortunately, the other three aren't really much help as Juna claims that Nana is too young and isn't that good of a reference, Vita hides secrets from Emma, and Fran's too clingy for Noel.
    • Team Cute ā€™nā€™ Clever: featuring Musse, Nadia, Renne and Towa. The former three compliment one another's intellect and comtemplate putting their heads together to take over the world. Towa, the sole unambiguously nice one of the group, gets disturbed by the conversation.
    • Team Technobabble: The engineer girls (Alisa, Tio and Tita) are mesmerized by the life-like doll Lapis. Tita swoons at how advanced and adorable she is, Alisa wants to "kidnap" and study her, Tio outright states that she wants to take her apart to find a way to bring Mishy to life. Lapis is understandably creeped out and cries out to Rufus for help.

    Daydreams
  • From Swin/Nadia/Rixia Daydream, the former two notice how the story of their lives, "Three & Nine," is still being sold in Crossbell. Despite all the negative implications this gives, what is the one thing Nadia simply cannot go without saying?note
    Nadia: WHERE ARE MY ROYALTIES?!
    • During the climax, Swin and Rixia, both determined not to lose, tell the other, in unison, to leave them alone. Cue a Beat moment before both go "...huh?"note
  • In the St. Astraia Daydream, poor Kurt ends up having to disguise himself as a girl for no reason other than Musse's amusement. She even alters his voice to be female through a potion. Specifically, Kurt was fairly content to just sit this one out and leave everything to the girls, as a male student wandering around a girl's school would raise suspicions. But according to Musse, that would be a "wasted opportunity."
  • Project Orbal Gear IV:
    • Erika's shenanigans. Part 1 has show up at Thor's branch Campus and proceed to glomp Tita, much to her daughter's embarrassment. Part 2 has her audibly do her "Success Dance" in front of several of Tita's classmates and take the opportunity to "accidentally" attack Agate.
Tita: Not in front of other people...
    • Speaking of Project Orbal Gear IV, when Tita is told that she has nothing to contribute to the Liberl team's project, Professor Schmidt says that she can help by making sure Mint doesn't burn the place down while everyone else is out. Tita then tries to defend Mint. Emphasis on "tries."
Tita: Oh Professor... I know Mint can be a lot, but even she wouldn't
Mint's Voice: Whoa! That wrench went flying!
Mint's Voice: Huh? How'd it get caught in the vent?
Mint's Voice: WHOA! It caught on fire! This place is about to go up in smoke!
      Tita: I'm on my way...
    • During the first mid-boss section of part 2, Renne starts out seated at a table with a cup of tea and a plate of macarons. And nobody, including Estelle, who is waiting there with her, knows where the tea set, the cookies, or the furniture came from.
    • Tita gives Agate a heartfelt hug before running off at the end of part 2. Agate suddenly feels a murderous aura the moment Tita is out of sight. The view switches to Erika, with her Glowing Eyes of Doom, menacingly approaching him from behind. Right before, there's some amusing Five-Second Foreshadowing in the form of Rean, Kurt, and Altina suddenly looking to their right with "oh dear Aidios" expressions.
  • Unlimited Blade Crafts has Roselia blatantly breaking the extra rule that only people who are in their 20s are allowed to have four members to join Olivert, Toval, and Alfin's team.note
Altina: There's no way she's in her twenties.
Fie: She's probably creeping up on her 800s.
Ash: Good thing she still looks like a brat.
    Emma: What is Grandmother thinking...?
    • The reason why she even joined in the first place? Vita tricked her that there's a reward for winning the tournament, which was to obtain a bunch of sweets.
  • For how depressing the main theme is, the Thors Open Campus Daydream has quite a few hilarious tidbits:
    • Kurt pokes fun at Rean's popularity with women, only for Kurt himself to be fawned over by some girls.
    • While doing his rounds of each of the clubs' activities, Ash comes across two guys ogling at the tennis club. Deciding to take a "gentler" approach to his usual actions, Ash chooses to walk the two of them and casually remind them that not only are they are perving on girls training to be soldiers, but also that some come from families that are more than capable of ruining their lives. When Ash finishes the two boys are quick to realize their error before making just as hasty of a retreat.
    • Even when he's not the viewpoint character, Rean still tries to look for people who might need help. Only for him to not find anyone.
    • Ash is clearly not happy that Musse deliberately chose not to tell him that he was Class VII's nominee for Student Council President, even point out that she's the obvious pick for the job. Her reason for not running? She prefers to work "behind-the-scenes." Juna immediately questions that reasoning.
    • Ash tries to get out of it by pointing out how any of his classmates would be a better pick than him...except Altina.
    • When Rean and the others are explaining why they would prefer that Ash stay at the Branch Campus, what does Musse say?
Musse: Then I would be the only one tormenting our dear instructor on a regular basis. It'd be so lonely without an accomplice!
Rean: As the instructor in question, I'm, uh, not sure what to make of that one.
    • Principal Aurelia points out that, as president, Ash has to choose the other student council members. Cue Ash flashing a devilish smile, and Musse looking uncharacteristically nervous. She then tries to excuse herself, when...
Ash: Not so fast, Phonylocks. You're not trying to run away from me, are you?
    Musse: ...Was it that obvious?
    • The final scene lists the student council members, with Ash as president, and Musse as vice-president. Ash finally got one up on Musse.
    • Both of the above scenes get even more hilarious with some Fridge Brilliance, as Aurelia saying that she "forgot" to mention that the student council president gets to pick the other members could easily translate into her coming up with it up sometime during the process, if not just making it up to avoid any extra hassle (both very possible for her), thus meaning that it was not something that was initially mentioned. This ends up re-contextualizing Musse's face, as for a split second she looks genuinely surprised at Aurelia's announcement and then looks worried when she realizes Ash is staring right at her. Even better, if Musse had known about that rule, then she probably would've ran and possibly gotten Ash as her vice-president instead of the other way around. Whether intentionally or not, Aurelia ended up playing a part in screwing Musse over.
  • "One Lucky Stone and One Unlucky Ship":
    • The Daydream has Jingo going through a Chain of Deals, getting an odd stone from Cerberus, which is traded to Beryl for a doll, which is traded to Shirley for an experimental bomb, which is traded to Xeno and Leo for a solid gold Retro Mishy statue. Jingo takes the statue back to Crossbell, figuring that she'd get the best price for it in Mishy's homeland. Who is it that bursts through the door of Neinvalli to check it out the moment word of it being for sale gets out? Tio. And what does Tio offer? A Bobcat-class airship abandoned by Marquis Ballad because he had purchased it in defiance of a warning from Beryl to be careful with spending, resulting in him becoming a Cosmic Plaything. This is a fair deal as far as Tio's concerned, because the Epstein Foundation has no use for the ship but can't justify scrapping it due to the cost and its condition, and the Retro Mishy statue is literally one-of-a-kind.
    • As Marquis Ballad is looking for the airship, he has to look after the unmanned Juno Naval Fortress, which is both empty and too far from Ordis. He has his butler buy any airship... resulting in the hapless butler having to settle for the ship in question because his first choice was discontinued for commercial unviability, his second choice was out of his budget due to asset seizures, and his third choice has a ridiculous waiting list because it's a ZCF passenger airliner. Ballad is not amused.
Marquis Ballad: This is little more than a dinghy!
    • The sudden splurge of mira attracts the Imperial government's attention, resulting in a visit from Machias to investigate his recent spending. This causes Machias to discover that he has purchased a ridiculous number of desserts to relieve stress, which Machias notes can't be good for his blood sugar, and books which, despite his protests to the contrary, are clearly about reconciling with Musse. And a number of treatments for hair loss.
    • When he's called to the Imperial Provincial Council, he tries to board the ship before pre-flight checks can be carried out, and he's met with a flock of birds that have nested inside.
Marquis Ballad: Even wildlife is against me now, and it's all because of this damned airship!
    • En route to the Council, the ship is disabled in flight, forcing Tita to save it from crashing. When she's set them down safely, he yells at the ship for the misfortune buying it has brought him, decides not to return to Juno, and has it dumped at Epstein Foundation HQ.
  • During Altina's event at the drink bar in the Beachsaide Vaycay at Mishelam, Altina tells Rean that she's only keeping Millium company because she seems to think it's what's required of her. Rean tells her that it's nothing to be bashful about, that it's okay to say that she loves her and she wouldn't call her her big sister if she didn't. Altina tells him that he misheard her, that she's never called her that. She turns the conversation to the bubble tea they're drinking and he asks her if she pays attention to trends. She tells him she's been curious about this one since Millium mentioned it and since she's her big sister, she felt she needed to...
    Altina: ...You misheard me again.

    True Reverie Corridor
  • In an optional conversation with Rean, Altina, and Rixia when controlling as Lloyd after the first time the two routes visit the True Reverie Corridor, it turns out that Rean got Distracted by the Sexy when the four of them fought at Geofront during Divertissment. Rixia tries defending her clothes are for practical purposes but when Lloyd is asked, even he can't look at Rixia's eyes.

    Final Chapter
  • When Rufus informs the other two groups about Elysium, it strikes Swin and Nadia just how easily they accepted the existence of what is essentially a future-predicting sentient botnet that was created by the spirit veins becoming unstable enough to interact with the orbal net.
Nadia: Guess future-predicting AIs are just Tuesday if you've been through enough crazy in your life.
  • When the Ironbloods reunite, Lechter thinks that Rufus' mask is a phase thing as Rufus is pushing in his thirties while Rufus snarks that it's still better than going by a Code Name like Jade Rook or Scarecrow. Claire then starts chiming that she still goes by Icy Maiden before backtracking.
  • When the three routes finally converge, Rufus ditches both Lloyd and Rean's group. His team goes on ahead to Orchis Tower, while letting them deal with the Asmodyne mech. Everyone has a thing or two to say about it.
  • When Lloyd asks Lapis to help them deal with the Retributive Tower, Lapis tells him "No." When everyone asks why she's backing out now and even wonders if Rufus was the one who would ask, it would be different. She says that it wouldn't because from her perspective, they're not asking help from her. She's asking help from them.
    • While everyone has a shocked exclamation mark on their heads, Rufus has a Sweat Drop instead.
  • So what exactly is Rufus' disguise when walking in public at Crossbell since he's not wearing his mask? Just a pair of sunglasses.
  • The ending montage has quite a few:
    • Mireille is left a blushing mess from Randy proposing to her.
    • New Class VII is apparently going to do a play. What does Musse want to do? Get Kurt in a dress, which he clearly does not want.note
    • Arios getting roped into joining his daughter Shizuku, KeA, Tio, and Jingo to celebrate their love for Mishy and fist pumping the air.

Other

  • When approaching a treasure chest with McBurn in your party, he may ask if you ever wonder if chests realize just how much we take from them. One suspects he might be aware on some level of the talking chests from other realms.
