Injected with nanorobots that once sought to end his life, he's managed to hack into the very technology meant to be his demise, transforming it into a powerful artificial intelligence.

With the newfound AI and the implantation of the Sandevistan, David is a unique hybrid of man and machine. However, this came at a price. David's mother is gone, and he must now pay his tuition fees at the academy through mercenary work, thrust into the perilous world of edgerunning.

As David navigates these dual lives, he must learn to thrive within the cutthroat corporate culture of Arasaka Academy while simultaneously fighting for survival in a job where young men rarely live for long. Amidst a web of corporate intrigue and moral conflict, David must juggle the weight of his responsibilities and the ever-present danger of solo life. The corporate secrets he uncovers and the bonds he forms with allies and friends are all that his armed with in his quest to climb to the top of Arasaka Tower.
    • Pairings: David/Lucy, David/OC
    • Comments: An Alternate Universe Fic featuring a dramatically different version of David who Took a Level in Cynic (and Smartass) after being subjected to a Corpo experiment Gone Horribly Right, who is bull-headed enough to try and make a name for himself as an Edgerunner and Corpo simultaneously. While it does teeter on the edge of "Overpowered Main Character Syndrome", most egregiously when David essentially rises from the dead as a cyber-zombie with minimal ill effects, the engaging characterisation and exploration of backstabbing Corpo culture make up for it.

Help him with his problems, and maybe extend the courtesy to his friends. So far, V had come through on most of that...albeit nearly eighteen years late. The man had given him and his mother improved places to live. Supplied him and his friends with plenty of gear and work to stay sharp.

So when her past comes knocking in the form of a jackass that saves her life, she begins to consider a future that used to seem impossible.

This world is dark and unrelenting in its brutality: Sinister forces plot in the shadows, monolithic corporate towers blot out the sun, streetscum litter every corner, and deranged cyberpsychos kill for fun. Yet, you can still fight for the future you want, even if there’s only a fleeting chance of victory.

    • Synopsis: If there was one thing most people could agree on, it's that CEOs were evil. And CEOs of major corporations? They're the closest thing the world's ever going to get to absolute evil. Even the most humane of them have a list of deceased in their names that exceed most war memorials, and the most depraved of them lost track after they entered the tens of millions. If there's one thing you can rely on a corporation head to be, it's cunning, ruthless, and depraved beyond belief.
Ichiban Kasuga was (reportedly) none of these things. Ichiban Kasuga, from what the few people that have been able to prove their interactions with him have to say, have all claimed that he's a mildly dimwitted man prone to acts of obscene charity, that is always willing to drop whatever he's doing to help a complete stranger out.

    • Synopsis: All right, listen up because I’m not doing this again.
6 months ago, I woke up in the worst place to live in America. And for 6 months, I’ve been this city’s one and only Spider-Man.
With some-Damn it, Wraith, I’m getting to you. Yes, I know how to tell a story. Alright, fine, damn it.
Okay. Before I tell you about right now, let me catch you up to speed on what’s happened to me; and this city.

  • The Wrong Hero: Cybernetic Shield by RobinRounds (AO3 link)
    • Recommended by: VictorioMWolff-Haddock
    • Crossover with: The Rising of the Shield Hero
    • Status: Ongoing
    • Synopsis: The Spirit of the Shield wanted Iwatani Naofumi, a twenty-year-old Japanese college student. Instead, it got Naofumi Vincent Iwatani, a twenty-eight-year-old mercenary from Night City. Can the world handle the Waves of Catastrophe, when they're forced to deal with the waves made by a renegade?
    • Comments: Because Naofumi is an experienced mercenary and has a strong spine compared to canon, instead of hating the Shield Hero, Malty is having a "Rich Girl gone bad" kind of obsession with him while being stuck in Motoyasu's party. This means no False Rape Accusation, so Aultcray begins to question how evil a "Shield Demon" actually is.

    • Comments: A mysterious Spartan is stranded in Night City and becomes a Solo to survive.
