"In her younger days she was a professional merc - today she's the queen of fixers. One of the last legends of Night City who's more than just handed-down stories. Unlike her friends from the good ol' days (read: Johnny Silverhand), Rogue does more than get by - she runs the Afterlife and by definition almost the entire Night City merc network. Every serious job needs her thumbs up, and V's mission to find Anders Hellman is very serious indeed."
— On Rogue Amendiares

Night City is said to be a place of endless opportunities, as seen in both the tabletop and video game, but the vast majority either end as wage slaves for the corporations or corpses to be looted by the many gangs. However, those with sharp minds, powerful personalities, and a willingness to cast aside their morals can earn untold wealth and power.

Franchise-wide

  • Yorinobu Arasaka is the son of tyrannical Arasaka Corporation founder Saburo and devotes his life to bringing ruin to his father's corrupt legacy. In his rebellious youth, Yorinobu founded the Steel Dragon street gang to harass Arasaka assets while using his corporate connections to feed them information. Realizing he could never destroy Arasaka from the outside, he falsely reconciles with his father and begins slowly but surely dismantling the corporation as he rose through the ranks. Yorinobu would later steal the biochip containing anarchist Johnny Silverhand's engram to sell it to a rival company and ruin his father's plans for immortality. Later murdering his father in a fit of rage during V's heist of the biochip, he successfully pins the blame on them and Saburo's bodyguard Takemura to eliminate them as potential witnesses. Ultimately, Yorinobu successfully purged the other factions in the company while turning the rest of the world against Arasaka to bring about its ruin, but will accept defeat with dignity should his sister Hanako win in the end.
  • Hanako Arasaka is Yorinobu's beloved sister and the only daughter of Saburo, and the only person who can match her brother in cunning in the corporate power struggles. Although raised in isolation by an overprotective Saburo, the seemingly demure Hanako would follow in her father's footsteps and come to dominate the conservative faction that sought to use her as a puppet. Following her father's murder, Hanako was at first content to allow Yorinobu to rule until she realized he sought the destruction of the Arasaka Corporation. Coming into contact with Takemura and V after they kidnapped her, Hanako can use the pair's desperation to prove their innocence to manipulate them into helping her overthrow Yorinobu. Should she prove victorious, Hanako will use an engram containing Saburo's consciousness to override her brother's mind and resurrect her father to secure her own legacy.
  • Alt Cunningham is a skilled Netrunner who created the Soulkiller software to transfer minds into a digital form, and was kidnapped by Arasaka to turn it into a weapon. Placed in Soulkiller herself, Alt was lost to the net when her lover Johnny Silverhand disconnected her too early and her consciousness eventually developed into a powerful A.I. over the decades. Later coming into contact with V and Johnny after he too fell victim to Soulkiller, she plays off their desperation and agrees to separate his mind from V's in exchange for getting her access to the Mikoshi digital prison housing all the minds trapped by Arasaka. In most endings, Alt will take over the security in Arasaka Tower and slaughter all its employees, many of whom are innocent, and use Soulkiller without V's consent to separate their mind from Johnny before fusing with Mikoshi to become all powerful.
  • Rogue Amendiares is a legendary mercenary and once love interest to Johnny Silverhand who aided in his fateful nuclear destruction of Arasaka Tower decades ago. To survive the rough times ahead, Rogue made herself indispensable by creating the city's most vast information network and all but dominating the criminal underworld by using her extensive contacts to become the best fixer in Night City. Rogue is first introduced to V when she helps them track down the elusive Anders Hellman to find how to remove Johnny's biochip, and becomes a personal ally when they help repair her and Johnny's strained relationship. In the endgame, Rogue can be chosen to plan the assault on Arasaka Tower and uses her most valuable contacts to knock a communication satellite out of orbit to launch a surprise attack and ultimately blows herself up to injure Adam Smasher enough for Johnny to end his Arch-Enemy.
