Valhalla's Angel is a Danganronpa fanfic by TheSneezingSOAB. The story is still ongoing.

Struggling to survive his whole life, Hajime at age 14, was forced to take on a job when his father got into a car accident. He accidentally stumbled inside a bar who gladly accepted him once they heard out his situation. It also helped that he already had experience in bartending. Then, his life took another turn when he received an invitation to Hope's Peak.

The story is based around the idea of Hajime actually having an Ultimate talent, in this case being a bartender. Due to being a member of Class-77-B, Hajime has to deal with both the insanity of his classmates, along with his job.

Valhalla's Angel contains the following tropes:

  • Abusive Parents: Hajime's mother was abusive to him and he does not miss her nor have any desire to go back to her.
  • Adaptational Badass: Hajime has a talent in this story and is an Ultimate student.
  • Adaptation Personality Change: Because Hajime has a talent, he lacks the canon insecurities of his canon self over it.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Downplayed. In canon, DICE is a group of pranksters. In this story, they're a gang of bank robbers.
  • Batman Gambit: In order get Fuyuhiko to play video games with them, Hajime and Akane start taunting him and claiming that the only reason he's not playing is because he's scared he won't win. Pride on the line, Fuyuhiko joins in.
  • Benevolent Boss: Dana, the woman who runs the bar Hajime works at, was willing to allow an underaged boy to work for her purely because he was going through some rough times (helps that he knew how to make really good drinks), and has no problem with him using equipment from the bar to throw a party for his classmates at Hope's Peak, provided he doesn't damage it.
  • The Cameo: When Chiaki, Hajime, and Kazuichi are heading to Hajime's bar, they walk past a motorcyclist sobbing on the road, with another person being loaded into an ambulance. Anyone who knows their Danganronpa lore knows that this is Mondo and Daiya Owada.
  • Cannot Talk to Women: Kazuichi still has this problem, to the point where he asks how Hajime was able to hold a simple conversation with Mahiru.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Hajime is extremely snarky, especially in relation to the sheer insanity that are his classmates.
  • The Dreaded: Class 77-B is terrified of Chisa, with everyone being afraid of skipping or forgetting class because of her punishments.
  • Exhausted Eye Bags: Hajime has these due to often having to work late.
  • First-Person Smartass: If Hajime isn't snarking out loud, he's doing it in his head.
  • Good Parents:
    • In sharp contrast to his mother, Hajime's father. He fought tooth and nail for custody of his son and did his best to provide for him.
    • Minato Naegi, Makoto and Komaru's father is as well. He loves talking about all his kids have done and is a Nice Guy.
  • Humble Hero: Hajime. One of his co workers even gets on his case about him needing to be more willing to accept compliments.
  • In Spite of a Nail:
    • Hajime and Chiaki still bond over video games.
    • Fuyuhiko, Hiyoko, Mahiru, Sonia and Mikan are still the only students who attend class everyday before Chisa shows up.
    • Chiaki still becomes Class Rep, only this time, Hajime and Kazuichi share the role with her.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Hajime. He is extremely snarky and tends to not hold back his words, but he's a Nice Guy overall, who does have a genuine friendship with a few of his classmates such Chiaki, Kazuichi and Mahiru.
  • Laughing Mad: Played for Laughs. When they realize just how insane their class is, Hajime and Mahiru start giggling widely.
  • Must Have Caffeine: Due to his poor sleep schedule, Hajime relies mainly on coffee and soda to keep awake during the day.
  • Named by the Adaptation: Sato is given the last name Amami.
  • Noodle Incident:
    • When Hiroko Hagakure leaves the bar, she notes that Yasuhiro got in trouble with the cops.
    • Whatever Chisa did to Gundham that left the class terrified of being punished for tardiness.
  • Odd Friendship: Loud, bombastic Chuunibyou Gundham and Shrinking Violet Mikan are shown to be rather close, to the point where one could read their interactions as Ship Tease.
  • Only Sane Man: Hajime and Mahiru are the sole members of the class who don't have any strange traits. Chiaki is one as well, but she can get too caught up in her video games sometimes.
  • Related in the Adaptation: Given that they share a last name, there is some relation between Sato and Rantaro.
  • Ship Tease:
    • Much of Hajime's canonical teasing with Chiaki remains, with the duo bonding over the Galaga game in Hajime's bar.
    • Hajime also gets quite a bit of teasing with Mahiru, with the two bonding over being the only sane people in their class. When the Sexy Soup incident happened, Hajime and Mahiru end up taking pin ups of the latter. Mahiru also refuses to delete them.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The bar Hajime works at is a blatant shout out to VA-11 HALL-A, right down to the names of two of his coworkers being named Dana and Jill.
    • In chapter ten, both Ibuki and Kazuichi eat at Big Bang Burger.
  • So Proud of You: How Hajime's father reacts to his son's acceptance letter to Hope's Peak.
  • Supreme Chef: Everyone agrees that Hajime's drinks are amazing.
  • Take That!: Hajime notes that "Super High School Level" sounds stupid and is extremely wordy, causing him to prefer "Ultimate".
  • Team Member in the Adaptation: More like classmate, but here, Hajime is a member of Class 77-B.
  • This Is Gonna Suck:
    • Hajime's reaction when he realizes that they are going to play dodgeball.
    • In chapter ten, both Kazuichi and Ibuki realize they are dead when they realize they forgot they had class and Chisa comes to fetch them.
  • What If?: Hajime had an ultimate talent and was a member of Class 77-B?
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: Hajime's basic reaction when Mikan reacts to him refusing to hit her as meaning he hates her.
