Fanfic / Re:Zero - The Princess and the Spider

Go To

The Mad Titan, Thanos had won! He used the Infinity Gauntlet to snap half of the Universe's population out of existence, including the one and only Spider-Man.

However,......that was not the end of the webslinger's story. He finds himself thrust into another world where sword and sorcery are common. Along the way, he met a Half-Elf girl named Emilia. What could this all mean?

Re:Zero - The Princess and the Spider is a crossover between Re:Zero and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The series is well-received by many readers. It has a remake that can be read here.

It also has an additional fic called Re:Zero - The Princess and the Spider The Movie: No Way Home which is an alternate take on Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The series is created by PowerCore Productions and is part of the first phase of the Anime X Marvel series.

This fic contains the following tropes:

    open/close all folders
    Season 1
  • Adaptation Deviation: Due to being far more intelligent and having Spider-Senses, Peter could pick up things far earlier than Subaru could, allowing him to not go through several more loops and be cautious of people like Roswaal and Echidna.
  • All Webbed Up: Peter intentionally had one of his web shooters explode to entrap the Mabeasts allowing Emilia and Peter to finish them off.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: When Peter told Rem that he never resorted to killing in his world, Rem asked what he and his allies would have done to Thanos. Peter was left quiet and pondered.
  • Badass Cape: Peter is given one made by Rem to make him look like a knight.
  • Big Damn Kiss: Rem kisses Peter before he leaves to find Emilia while she holds off the Witch cultists.
  • Blow You Away: This is Peter's elemental magic. This gives him new offensive abilities and improving his webslinging. After training under Julius, Peter learns to summon Wind Spirits.
  • Brought Down to Normal: One of the first things Peter notices upon arriving at Lugunica is that he is wearing his original Spider-Man outfit before Captain America: Civil War.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: The hoodlums at the alley try to attack Peter who just web them up immediately.
  • Defeat Means Friendship: Peter earns Julius's respect following their duel.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Upon seeing the destroyed village, Peter noted that Thanos would not have inflicted this kind of brutality.
  • Foreshadowing: Beatrice explains to Peter that a year prior to his arrival, a boy with a track suit lived with them and became a knight before he is forced to leave them and go on a mission.
  • Immediate Sequel: Re:Zero - The Princess and the Spider takes place right after Avengers: Infinity War when Thanos caused the Snap.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Elsa threw one of her swords, impaling Peter and Emilia at once.
  • Kill It Through Its Stomach: Both Peter and Julius combined their powers to burn the White Whale from the inside.
  • Literally Shattered Lives: Peter uses his Wind Cannon to blast a frozen Petelgeuse to pieces.
  • The Multiverse: Peter sees visions of the events of the 2002 Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man.
  • Mythology Gag: Emilia and Peter discussing about the latter should he able to shoot webs biologically is a nod to 2002's Spider-Man who could do just that.
  • Outside-Context Problem: While Unseen Hands is formidable but this is easily countered by Peter's Spider Senses that would warn him of the attacks.
  • Point of Divergence:
    • Unlike Subaru, Peter succeeded in saving the girl from the passing cart.
    • Spider-Man easily defeats Julius, improving Emilia's standing in the Royal Selection.
    • Rather than Julius, it's Emilia, Rem and Wilhelm who take part in the fight against Petelgeuse.
    • Emilia is part of the force that fight the White Whale.
    • Rem and Crusch didn't fight Lye and Regulus averting their canon fates of having their memories being eaten.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Peter reaches this after seeing the Witch Cult's massacre of the village causing him to drop his Thou Shall Not Kill rule and proceeds to murder every cultist he could find.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Peter stands up for Emilia and calls out the nobility for their blind prejudice towards her for resembling the Witch of Envy, along with pointing out that compared to Emilia, the other candidates are poor leaders due to them either being power hungry, greedy or arrogant.
  • Running Gag: Many people question Peter if he could control a horde of spiders.
  • Sequel Hook: Peter suddenly finds himself transported back on Titan where Doctor Strange and the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy are being brought back. Strange takes Peter to a null void and asks what has happened to him.
  • Ship Tease: As the season continues, there has been a growing romance between Peter and Rem.
  • Took a Level in Badass: While in Lugunica, Peter learns both swordsmanship and magic to make him an even better fighter. He also makes a new compound to create stronger and durable webbing.
    • It's then revealed later to Peter that learning magic has also enhanced his Spider Sense.
  • What If?: This series focuses on the alternative where Peter Parker/Spider-Man takes Subaru Natsuki's place and goes through Re:Zero's story.

    OVA 1 - The Endgame
  • 11th-Hour Superpower:
    • The Hulk turns into World Breaker to kick Thanos's ass.
    • Peter summons every Wind Spirit on Earth to give him the strength to take on Thanos.
  • Alternate Timeline: Strange theorizes that Peter's Return by Death actually creates new realities whenever Peter dies.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Thanos is destroyed once and for all and Tony survives his canon death but it's Peter who takes Tony's place as the one to die.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • Strange makes it clear he'll take out Peter should he jeopardize the universe. He made a similar statement to Tony in Avengers: Infinity War.
    • 2014 Thanos would remarked about being cursed with knowledge much like how his Infinity War counterpart had said to Tony on planet Titan.
    • As World Breaker Hulk pummels Thanos, Hulk refers to the Mad Titan as "puny god".
  • Due to the Dead: Peter was laid to rest in New York with the day being announced as "National Spider-Man Day" to honor his death and sacrifice.
  • Fatal Flaw: Doctor Strange fears that Tony's Futurist beliefs would cause Avengers: Endgame to never happen because he will spend too much time trying to find another solution. Ensuring that there is no other choice to win will force Tony to use the Infinty Gauntlet to destroy Thanos.
  • Tragic Keepsake: Aunt May gave Peter a medallion belonging to Uncle Ben. Inside was a picture of a younger Ben, May and Peter.
  • Underestimating Badassery: Thanos clearly think little of Peter, seeing him only as a bug. He's going to regret that....
  • Villain Respect:
    • Adrian Toomes honors Peter following his death, even shutting up his fellow inmates who are cheering that the Spider-Man is gone.
    • Downplayed. Kingpin does give his respects to Spider-Man following his death but ultimately, he decides to use this to his advantage in gaining power of New York.

    Season 2
  • Adaptation Deviation: Following the fight between Roswaal and Ram, Peter would get the chance to battle Roswaal with Peter coming out victorious.
  • Ascended Extra: Uncle Ben went from being The Ghost in the MCU to appearing and playing a pivotal role when Peter went through the Sanctuary's Trials.
  • Call-Back: Peter explodes one of his webshooters to web the Great Beast Mabeast much like how he defeated the Wolf Mabeasts in Season 1.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • Peter recalls his aunt and uncle taking him to the Stark Expo and Iron Man saved him from the Hammer Drones.
    • Echidna remarks how Vulture never has a beef against Spider-Man but at Iron-Man for ruining his business.
  • Last Episode, New Character: Ironic is that the new character is none other than Subaru Natsuki, having finally returned to the Emilia Camp.
  • Mythology Gag: Peter's new Spider-Man suit is based on the Scarlet Spider after his usual suit is destroyed beyond repair.
  • Sequel Hook: Peter, Rem and Beatrice were transported to New York, only for them to discover that this is an Alternate Universe where not only the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home had occurred but the Spider-Man of this world was .... Miles-Morales.
  • Set Right What Once Went Wrong: Peter's first trial is him being sent to a mental reconstruction of the day when he got bitten by the radioactive spider and tests if he chooses to do things differently. Ultimately, Peter allows himself to be bit once more.
  • Spanner in the Works: Roswaal reveals that Peter and Subaru are the few people that his tome never foresees and he's been trying to either get rid of them or trying to manipulate them. Unfortunately, Peter proves to be too smart and completely tears down Roswaal's plans.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Roswaal was already going through this after Ram destroyed his tome but he went on a murderous rampage against Peter when the boy mocked his obsession for Echidna.
  • Villain Takes an Interest: Upon eavesdropping onto Peter and Beatrice's conversation about the Infinity Stones, Roswaal is interested about these stones, specifically the Time Stone and wants to acquire it for his purposes.

OVA 2 - Wrath of the Spider King
  • The Bad Guy Wins: The Spider King defeats Reinhard and corrupts Emilia and Beatrice to his side. He and his newly christened Sinister Six march off to destroy Lugunica.
  • Point of Divergence:
    • Having founded Arc Totem and became Spider King, Peter recruited Cecilus, Halibel, Elsa and Meili.
    • After the attack on Roswaal Manor, Arc Totem took in Emilia and Beatrice while everyone but Frederica were killed.
    • Reinhard, Julius and Subaru and other knights attacked the Arc Totem base.
  • What If?: "Wrath of the Spider King" occurred when a symbiote bonded with Peter before he was dusted in Avengers: Infinity War.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Puck calls out Subaru for not being there for Emilia when she cries out for him to come back.
