Oh Good Hunter is a Worm/Bloodborne crossover written by IKnowNothing on SpaceBattles.com.

This fanfic provides examples of:

  • Adaptation Name Change: Kid Win changed his name to Visionary, while Glory Girl goes by Eminence.
  • Alternate Universe: A vast number of differences occur long before Worm canon starts:
    • The present of the story takes place in 2014, not 2011.
    • Cauldron has contact and is in partnership with The Healing Church.
    • Both Nilbog and the entire Slaughterhouse 9 are dead, in 2001 and 2002 respectively.
    • Danny Hebert commits suicide in 2001, driven by the death of Annette(who has also died way earlier than in canon) and the disappearance of Taylor. His death leading to the collapse of the Dockworker's Union and a large part of Brockton Bay's employment market.
      • Furthermore, Taylor is declared missing ten days before his funeral, and has been so ever since. She was kidnapped by Cauldron for the Church.
    • The Empire 88 is destroyed with the death of Kaiser, which has two further effects:
      • With Kaiser gone, the Empire capes either die off, try to form their own gangs, or get subsumed by the Teeth.
      • With Max Anders(Kaiser's secret identity) dead, Medhall Corporation's stock plummets with the death of their CEO, leading it to be closed down and Brockton Bay losing the other big source of employment in the city along with the Union. This ultimately makes Brockton Bay even more of a run-down, broken, crime-ridden hellhole than in canon.
    • The Teeth hold the West coast and have a significant presence in both New York and Brockton Bay.
    • Accord's Ambassadors pretty much control the entire East coast, going all the way down to Texas.
    • The Dragonslayers are apparently a known Tinker-only society, though they have branched out with all their competition dead in the last power vacuum.
    • Teacher is not in the Birdcage and is one of the Four major criminal powers in the US.
    • The death of Slaughterhouse 9 lead to a lot of solo or Rogue capes banding together for protection, resulting in more Capes in both criminal empires and the PRT.
    • Hero is alive and Glory Girl (known as "Eminence") is part of the PRT instead of New Wave.
    • Emma's family moved to Boston instead of staying in Brockton Bay, and Emma works as a freelance journalist. Furthermore, although she's in contact with Sophia and they are on agreeable terms, Emma gets annoyed with Sophia more and is unaware that she's Shadow Stalker.
    • Vista has recently been made Captain of the Wards. Also, her canon relationship to Bryon is much better as apparently Bryon and Tristan never triggered as a Case 70, with them remaining as separate individuals.
  • Awful Truth: Emma gets hit with a barrage of these - first she's informed she's the focus around which Owl manifests, then she realizes who Owl is (though she keeps trying to deny it to herself), then, in conversation with Charles (secretly Hero) she realizes Owl was used by the Protectorate as an assassin for years... and caps it all off by realizing that, whatever leash the Protectorate had to rein her in before Arcadia, it no longer works.
  • Body Horror: Lady Maria gets her hands on one of the notebooks the Choir used to register the results of the experiments they carried out in Bet-native children supplied to them by Cauldron. Of the 150 children, only Taylor survived the Mengele-style experiments - the Choir gave kids at least as young as four the unrefined form of the blood used in the process of ministration, hoping it would lead to a faster transformation, checking how much of it took for their muscles to bulge to the point of breaking their bones, or injecting more of it into their legs to see if it would make them faster (the test subject's spine snapped from the force the moment the experiment began), or testing the potential to resist Insight through the presence of a Corona (turns out it actually makes them weaker to Insight). And then she reads about the "training" techniques. She's so utterly horrified she immediately burns the book.
    • Taylor herself has a facial scar running from her eye to her mouth and a gaping hole in her torso; by Emma's comments, it seems she doesn't even have a stomach and some of her ribs and some of her rib area appears to have been torn out.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Taylor finally escapes her role as Cauldron's assassin and the hellhole that is Yharnam to live her life as Simon wanted with Emma but Flora/The Moon Presence has reached Earth Bet. Cauldron killed eachother when Flora first showed. Anyone who knows anything about Bloodborne knows Flora being on Earth Bet means very bad things are going to happen.
  • Brown Note: Taylor's very presence spreads Aza-Frequencies, aka Insight, whenever she transports to Earth Bet. Everyone who knows Bloodborne will know this is a very bad thing, ranging from having people Go Mad From Revelation or their bodies transforming into an Eldritch Abomination; Blasto's creatures were beginning to show signs of this mutation before Taylor kill them. These Frequencies would make anyone infected by them to be both in inherent danger and inherently dangerous, as even simple curiosity with their presence would lead eventually to dabbling in eldritch knowledge due to Insight making them aware of any forbidden things they might stumble across that they would normally ignore and not see. In addition to her slaughter of Parahumans, Cauldron is trying to curb Taylor's visits to Bet because of this danger, before she infects the entirety of Brockton Bay with the Frequencies and makes them either mad or monsters. Or worse, attract the attention of a Great One.
  • Driven to Suicide: Danny Hebert, apparently unable to resist losing his wife and daughter in quick succession, even before the story starts. On the other hand, the Church files on the children make it clear Cauldron had no problem killing the parents of the kids they sent over...
  • For Science!: The Choir.
  • Hunter of His Own Kind: Taylor is some form of super-soldier Hunter made by the Church under Cauldron's orders and using their resources, combining the effects of the Old Blood with her ability to Trigger with Parahuman powers, though the specifics are unknown. Taylor spends a lot of her time in a coma, but when she wakes up she world-hops over to Earth Bet to go on a Hunt for Beasts. However, her perception of a Beast is any person with Parahuman powers, leaving anyone without those traits alive... though it varies whether said survivors remain unharmed by her. Cauldron used her as a weapon to take out troublesome and dangerous Parahumans, but she has since malfunctioned and started killing any Parahumans she comes across instead of just her target, then she degraded further to also attack any person with the potential to Trigger as a Parahuman.
  • Insistent Terminology: What the Church calls "Insight", Cauldron labels as "Aza-Frequencies".
  • "It" Is Dehumanizing: The Choir insist that "the Asset" is not human, and is not a she, he or they, but an "It". It is Taylor.
  • Last of Her Kind: Taylor is the only surviving and successful member of the 150 children kidnapped from Earth Bet for the Healing Church's experiments to make a sort of super-soldier for Cauldron.
  • Normally, I Would Be Dead Now: The Owl. She seemingly don't heal from any wounds that she take, causing her to rack up a horrifying number of wounds from her past encounters, such as broken bones, missing flesh in her limbs, surgical scars, and the most notable being a massive hole in her stomach. Said stomach injury is so bad that Emma describes as not even an wound; it is as if an impossibly deep chunk of her torso is just missing, as if someone scooped it out. And the Owl still lives and fights Parahumans. She even took a blast from Hero, the world's greatest Tinker, and got back up with a languid air.
  • Meaningful Name: Bloodborne's world is named by Cauldron as "Earth Aza". Aza being short for Azathoth.
  • Spared By Adaptation:
    • Hero is still alive where in canon he got killed by Siberian. And it isn't due to Slaughterhouse 9 being gone: canon!Hero died in 2000, while the 9 in this story was destroyed two years later.
    • Averted with many known villain capes: Slaughterhouse 9, Kaiser, Blasto, and Stormtiger are all dead, at Taylor's hands. Nilbog is dead as well, though he was killed by Gehrman.
  • Technology Uplift: The Church's contact with Cauldron gives them access to technology that accelerates the development of Bloodborne's society. Everything from fashion choice and building construction, to electric lamps and diesel cars, to black-and-white movies and public speakerphones playing music, to heart monitors and microphones, to surveillance cameras and primitive computers.
  • Time Dilation: Earth Bet and Earth Aza have some time difference between them. It constantly shifts, but usually Earth Aza moves a bit faster than Earth Bet. According to Word of God, this is due to the influence of the Great Ones; whether involuntary or not, they have caused Yharnam's various timelines to be stacked and overlapping with each other and twisting continuum. In a world where reality is so blurred that even imagination and dreams can achieve a warped physical form and become twisted reflections of reality, time can't help but be forced into an unrecognisable shape when compared to the more linear timeline of Earth Bet.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Taylor is this comparatively to veteran Hunters. She has skill, sure, but compared to someone like Gehrman, even in his old age, her attacks are wild and predictable. However, she makes up for it with a level of sheer speednote , strength and durability that most Hunters can't hope to match, along with an exemplary amount of determination.
  • Wham Line: Alexandria reveals to Eidolon that Cauldron knew Taylor was going to return to Earth Bet for good eventually, but to discourage him from helping Hero capture rather than kill her, she informs him Taylor's likely to drag all of Yharnam with her when she does.
    • Lady Maria when Flora first appears in front of Cauldron and the madness starts.
    "You all deserve what's coming."
  • Wrong Assumption: The Time Dilation between Bet and Aza leads Cauldron to believe that the Church is still in operation. They get a rude awakening when Maria reveals the entire organization has collapsed and only monsters and madmen are still alive in Yharnam.
  • Would Harm a Child: Doesn't matter how young or how non-threatening you are; if have Triggered or have the ability to Trigger, the Owl will kill you without a second thought. Also applies to the experiments that made her that way.
