The Okron Tournament is a Spin-Off of a classic fanfiction known as the Ultimate Video Rumble. This is a Mega Crossover tournament fanfic combining different franchises (mostly fighting games, with a few exceptions). This works like a Royal Rumble in wrestling, wherein fighters enter one at a time and get eliminated, adding a few every round until only one remains standing. Like the UVR, it is also a votefic where the readers can choose who they want to see move on and who they want to see get eliminated. There are usually thirty fighters occupying the ring at a time for each "Section", and when a certain number of eliminations are met, the arena fills up again and repeats until, once again, only one winner remains.
Alongside the main fighting area, there are also plenty of Side Matches that are going on outside the ring. This is because at the same time as the main event, an evil team of villains are hatching evil schemes, and it falls on the shoulders of a Ragtag Bunch of Misfits to stop these plots before the situation gets any worse.
The Okron Tournament is inspired by Battle of the Luminaries and Megamix Tournament, two of the more popular spinoffs. Because of this, there are a few references to those tournaments in question.
The first Okron Tournament can be found on Grey Raine's profile here.
This story provides examples of...
- Anti-Villain: The titular Imperfects, save for Niles Van Roekel, are presented this way, not really wanting to follow Niles but only doing so out of necessity.
- Author Avatar: The host of the story is also the writer of the story, as per tradition for these types of hosting tournaments.
- Big Bad: M. Bison is usually the main leader behind most of the team-ups.
- Invisibility: In the section Skull Kid appeared in, he decided to use his power from Super Smash Bros. to make everyone's invisible, making it harder for the fighters.
- Mega Crossover: Excluding the number of Mystery Fighters appearing, there are characters from Street Fighter V, The King of Fighters XIV, Super Smash Bros., Hyrule Warriors, Pokémon, Sonic the Hedgehog, Tales of the Tempest, Waku Waku 7, Kizuna Encounter, Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects, Under Night In-Birth, Rayman, Tatsunoko Production, Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, Darkstalkers, and Fighting EX Layer.
- The Mystery Fighters for this tournament include characters from... Asura Blade: Sword of Dynasty, God of War, Meta Runner, Bomberman, South Park, Resident Evil, Soul Eater, Mortal Kombat, Dead Space, Rise of the Guardians, Bayonetta, Bloody Roar, Tekken 7, Paper Mario: The Origami King, My Knight and Me, King of Fighters Maximum Impact 2, BlazBlue, The Suicide Squad, Dead by Daylight, WWE, Tangled: The Series and Tales of Berseria.
- My Greatest Second Chance: After every five sections, the voters have a chance to vote for two people from each section who has gotten eliminated without getting a single elimination so one could come back in the next round, thus invoking this trope.
- Running Gag: At least once a section, an eliminated person lands on the character Eike Kusch from Shadow of Destiny.
- Spin-Off
- The Unexpected: Most of the Mystery Fighters turn out to be this.
