Adventures of the Morning Star is a League of Legends/Arcane fan fiction series staring Jinx, Malphite, and Yasuo as a trio of Bounty Hunters traveling the galaxy as they hunt for bounties.

Provides examples of (UNMARKED SPOILERS):

  • A-Cup Angst: Tahm Kench makes fun of Jinx for having small breasts on his trivia show.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Jinx is an Anti-Hero instead of a Tragic Villain.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: While showing no sign of his canon counterpart’s corruption, Marcus is a much bigger tool than in canon, bullying even his allies out of boredom.
  • Adaptational Karma: Tahm Kench is still active in the main setting, he’s torn apart by Warwick here.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy:
    • Warwick comes off as a friendly dog (granted, one who will brutally rip people apart) than the vicious monster in canon LOL.
    • Malphite is also less temperamental here.
  • Adaptational Sexuality: While Vi appears to be strictly gay in canon, here she identifies as bi.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Singed lacks his affability and daughter from canon.
  • Adaptation Dye-Job: Unlike her usual blue hair, Jinx has orange hair here. It should be noted that her hair used to be blue before it was dyed orange.
  • Anti-Hero Team: Jinx, Yasuo, and Malphite are ridiculously violent, brutally shooting, cutting, and smashing their way through their enemies. That said, Malphite is a lovable goof, Yasuo is quite the Nice Guy who tries to keep the violence down and Jinx does care about innocents and her family.
  • Arc Villain: The series has yet to establish an overarching antagonist, and each story has its own villain.
  • Assassin Outclassin': Silco’s attempt to have Piltover’s council assassinated fails because the assassins were taken out by two teenage girls. Granted, Vi and Caitlyn are prodigies in combat, but still.
  • Ax-Crazy: Jinx, as usual, is absolutely nuts, but ultimately a heroic example. Blowing up bad guys and blowing their brains out with a sadistic grin the whole time.
  • Bad Boss: When Deckard accidentally lets Veigar escape, Silco uses him as Shimmer test subject.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Yasuo and Malphite are far nicer then Jinx, but they won’t hesitate to slaughter enemies when the situation calls for it (or if Jinx tells him to, in Malphite’s case).
  • Big Bad Wannabe: Veigar wants to be seen as the biggest threat to the galaxy, but the only reason his bounty is so high is because he’s so annoying.
  • Big Friendly Dog: Warwick, though with an added dose of Beware the Nice Ones, as he’s willing to rip people apart.
  • Big Sister Instinct: After hearing Jinx has been captured by Tahm Kench, Vi grabs Caitlyn and goes on the warpath to save her.
  • Black-and-Gray Morality: Jinx and her crew are a little too quick to murder, but they have good qualities and are nowhere near as bad as the people they hunt.
  • Blood Knight: Vi is a deconstruction. It’s revealed the reason she reveals in battle is out of Self-Harm, and to distract herself from her memories of her girlfriend’s brutal death.
  • Bounty Hunter: What the crew of the Morning Star are, and are quite famous ones to boot.
  • Butt-Monkey: Tremello is constantly getting the short end of the stick, whether it’s caused by his clumsiness or Jinx’s bullying.
  • Children Are Innocent: Keeping Lulu’s innocence intact becomes a major focus of Jinx and Caitlyn.
  • Corrupt Politician: How Silco is presented as in this universe. He claims to be a representative of Zaun who wants to unite it with Piltover, but he secretly plans to have the Council assassinated, though it failed.
  • Cover Innocent Eyes and Ears: Jinx has Lulu wear a blindfold so she doesn't witness her killing guards.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Poor Aine is torn apart by Singed’s rats, with limbs ripped off and disemboweled.
  • Cruel Mercy: Jhin initially planned to kill Sona, but after seeing her despair over the death of her wife and dozens of innocent people, he chooses to blame her for their deaths and leave her in guilt.
  • Death Seeker: Caitlyn shows traits of this in her introduction. When Jinx’s ship crashes and is barreling towards her, she just closes her eyes and stands still, expressing disappointment when the ship stops before it hits her.
  • Decomposite Character: Vander and Warwick are implied to be the same character in canon. Here, they are separate people.
  • The Don: Silco is said to be one of the most power mob bosses in the entire galaxy.
  • Dramatic Irony: Vi scoffs when Aine suggests she joins the enforcers. Not only do we know she will join them, it turns out that, thanks in part to Aine, Vi would go to the Enforcers academy a day later.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Silco claims that Vander killed his daughter, which is why he wants to kill Jinx to hurt Vander.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: A rare unsympathetic version, as Tahm Kench confirming he doesn’t eat kids doesn’t detract from the fact he’s hurting and traumatizing Lulu.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Jinx is a trigger-happy nut case, but she acknowledges Lulu’s innocence and tries to keep her from being traumatized. She’s also genuinely terrified as Warwick rips apart and devours Tahm Kench and makes sure to cover Lulu’s eyes.
  • Exact Words: Singed promised Vi he wouldn’t hurt her girlfriend, Aine, if she let his rats maul her. After doing so, he orders the rats to kill her.
  • Fantastic Drug: Like canon, Shimmer turns people into wild beasts.
  • Flipping the Bird: Tremello and Jinx get into a competition of this after she insults him in the second story.
  • Harmless Villain: Veigar is considered a nothing threat by everyone he encounters, and is considered more an annoyance than a threat.
  • Hidden Depths: Jinx knows sign language.
  • In Spite of a Nail: Despite the bomb incident not happening here, Sevika still has a robotic arm.
  • Jerkass:
    • Deckard is a smug, violent asshole in pretty much every scene he’s in.
    • Marcus is also a massive tool, being unnecessarily hostile to his allies just because he’s bored.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold:
    • Jinx is violent, unstable, greedy and disrespectful to authority, but she does have a conscience and is willing to help.
    • Vi is fairly violent herself, and she was initially bitter towards Caitlyn and Aine due to being topsiders, but she warmed up to them and is a supportive big sister to Jinx.
  • Karmic Butt-Monkey: Deckard is a total asshole who constantly gets his butt kicked by the protagonists.
  • Karmic Death: Tahm Kench devours people who fail his show, and at the end he is torn apart and devoured by Warwick.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Silco in the first story, the story was a straight comedy before he showed up, which is when the Dramedy aspects were established.
  • The Lancer: Yasuo is the much more levelheaded and chill one to Jinx.
  • Lipstick Lesbian: Vi’s old girlfriend, Aine, was a rather feminine, Spoiled Sweet girl.
  • The Lost Lenore: Both Vi and Sona connect over their lost lovers. Sona lost her wife to Jhin, while Vi lost her girlfriend to Singed.
  • Mad Scientist: Singed is as deranged as in canon. Turning Deckard into a Shimmer monster and is revealed to have turned several rats into ones as well, having them tear apart Vi’s girlfriend.
  • Mama Bear: Both Caitlyn and Grayson are this to Lulu despite neither being her mother, as they both threaten Jinx to make sure Lulu keeps her innocence intact.
  • Modesty Towel: Jinx wears one while talking to Caitlyn after getting out of the shower. She then drops it and accidentally flashes Caitlyn and Yasuo.
  • Nice Guy:
    • Yasuo is pleasant, often apologizing for his more violent companions' actions and actually trying to do good without reward.
    • Malphite is sweet, and while a bit too sycophantic to Jinx, is so lovable and friendly even Cait can’t stay mad at him.
    • Lulu is a sweet and innocent little girl.
  • Not So Above It All: As much as Caitlyn berates Jinx for swearing in front of Lula, she does it herself sometimes.
  • Not-So-Harmless Villain: Veigar manages to run circles around all attempts to catch him, and by all accounts is still a very good fighter.
  • Opposites Attract: Vi is a street rough girl from the gutter. Aine is a Lipstick Lesbian and Spoiled Sweet girl from the city. Didn't stop them from falling in love.
  • Only Sane Man: Yasuo and Caitlyn hold the ball the most, they’re the ones usually pushing back in Jinx’s insane plots and calling her out.
  • Papa Wolf: Literally in Warwick’s case. He’s an actual wolf and is extremely protective of Lulu.
  • Power Fist: Like canon, Vi's main weapon are power gauntlets.
  • Power Trio: Jinx, Yasuo, and Malphite, just like in the canon Odyssey universe.
  • Psycho for Hire:
    • Jinx can be considered a rare heroic version of this. She’s a bounty hunter, but also a nutcase who enjoys hurting bad people a little too much.
    • Jhin plays this much more straight, being a vicious Mad Artist Serial Killer when not on the job.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Vander whenever he would babysit the kids was always fair, he hears them out when he sees they’ve been in a fight and makes it clear he only wants to make sure they didn’t start it.
  • Redundant Rescue: By the time Vi and the others arrive to save Jinx, they find she has already freed herself and captured Tahm Kench.
  • Rescue Romance: Aine fell for Vi after she rescued her from Deckard. She even described her feelings as a hero crush.
  • Self-Harm: Vi and Sona are revealed to do this after the losses they faced.
  • Serial Killer:
    • Tahm Kench abducts people to Star on his show, devouring the losing contestants on live television.
    • Jhin is this and a nasty combination with Psycho for Hire.
  • Shout-Out: After being beaten by Jhin and asked if she’s okay by Vi, Jinx can only respond with "Finland!"
  • Smitten Teenage Girl: Vi acts like this during her second meeting with Aine, she even trips over herself trying to look cool.
  • Smug Snake: Deckard acts like he’s the top dog in every situation, but gets beaten every time.
  • So Much for Stealth: Jinx ruins Yasuo's attempt to sneak up on Veiger basically instantly.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Vander and Grayson are still around well after Powder has become Jinx, when both were killed when she was still a child. These are just two examples.
  • Starter Villain: Veigar is the first villain the crew hunts on screen, but Silco kind of takes the reigns and becomes the first true Big Bad of the story.
  • Straight Man: Yasuo functions as this to Jinx’s insanity and Malphite’s sycophantic nature.
  • Stupid Evil: Jhin doesn’t think things through, it got to the point the much more pragmatic Man in the Fox Mask had to call him out.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Jinx herself is this to her group, being the most morally ambiguous and the first to jump to killing.
  • Token Good Teammate: Lulu is a sweet, innocent little girl in a group of violent bounty hunters.
  • Trauma Button: When asked about her family, Caitlyn suffers a sort of PTSD breakdown and begins to disassociate.
  • Tsundere: Vi was this towards Aine, trying to hide her feelings for her by bitterly wishing she hadn’t saved her, though she never acts this way when Aine was actually around and drops this when the two start dating.
  • Yes-Man: Malphite basically does whatever Jinx wants, with Yasuo being the only member of the group to properly call her out and go against her orders.
  • Younger Than They Look: Grayson is in her thirties, but she has wrinkles and gray strands in her hair.
