https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/unordinaryvaughn.jpg
Power Level: 7.8
Superpower: Telekinesis note

The Headmaster of Wellston High. His real name is Victor who was a former instructor of misbehaving children for Authorities.

    Doctor Darren

Doctor Darren

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/unordinarydarren.jpg
Power Level: 4.2
Superpower: Nightmare note

The School Nurse of Wellston High who tends to get angry really easily due to being sick and tired of healing up students that are constantly beating each other up. He also turns out to be in a relationship with Sera's older sister, Leilah.

Darren eventually resigns from his work at Wellston in order to work at Leilah's company, which comes as a shock to him when it turns out that she works for a questionable organization in Spectre. However, he eventually agrees to stick around to continue his doctor work for her, especially after the Wellston students start getting into trouble dealing with forces outside of Wellston.
  • Battle Aura: His Nightmare power gives off a black aura filled with tiny red eyes.
  • Berserk Button: He gets really ticked off when students fight in the hall. He also tends to get angry if the injured leave under his supervision before they're fully healed, or the fact that John always returns to the nurse's office sporting some sort of injury.
  • The Bet: Won a bet with Keene when they guessed how long it would take for John to end up with a broken bone after Serephina got suspended.
  • Color-Coded Characters: Blue
  • The Dreaded: Played for Laughs; he's considered the scariest person in Wellston. With his short temper and his Ability, Nightmarenote , he scares the crap out of everyone in the school when he's in a bad mood.
  • The Medic: He's able to heal people's injuries by having them drink medicines in his possession. The medicine is quite powerful since it can fully heal some injuries within just a couple of hours.
  • Nosebleed: Ends up with one after looking at Leilah's picture of her in her swimsuit at the beach.
  • Power Level: 4.2 Elite-tier.
  • School Nurse: His profession at Wellston High. Darren's primary work usually has him healing the students after they've beaten each other up using their superpowers on one another. However, John tends to be constantly returning patient given that almost everyone goes after him knowing that he's just a cripple.
  • Secret-Keeper: Darren is fully aware of John's past, his abilities, and the fact that John's been pretending to be a cripple.
  • The Un-Smile: Darren's sincere attempt at a smile results in a strained facial expression that freaks Leilah out.

    Keene

Keene

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/unordinarykeene.jpg
Power Level: 6.8
Superpower: Minefield note

The Head of Security at Wellston. He's friends with Dr. Darren.
  • The Bet: Lost a bet with Darren when they guessed how long it would take for John to end up with a broken bone after Serephina got suspended.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: Introduced all the way back in Episode 41, Keene at first seemed like a fairly innocuous staff member who existed so Vaughn had someone to voice his thoughts to. Then in Episode 337 he, without warning, single-handedly takes out a small army of cops trying to arrest Vaughn, becoming central to Vaughn's decision to become a fugitive rather than peacefully accept imprisonment like he originally intended. Fans were pretty surprised he'd been hiding how cool he was for over 300 episodes.
  • Color-Coded Characters: Tan.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Subverted because Keene, a late bloomer like John, fared better with Readjustment than John and other later late bloomers because he was not subject to the mental torture and psychological trauma that was dished out by administrators like Keon to keep late bloomers in line and ashamed of their powers. It was all thanks to Vaughn, who had Keene under his care and helped Keene realize his self-potential to do good and redeem himself.
  • A Day in the Limelight: For a long time, Keene was basically just a background character for Vaughn and Darren to have someone to talk to. He finally gets some chapters of focus in Season 2 Part 2 when Keene has to be the one who rescues Vaughn from the Authorities.
  • Mirror Character: Serves as one to John, although it's not obvious until his backstory gets revealed. Both are late bloomers who had serious run-ins with the authorities in their youth. Keene maintains an outward image of being meek and harmless, similar to John's time pretending to be a cripple. And, as Episode 337 proves, both are prone to making violently impulsive decisions to protect those they care about. He's basically who John probably would've grown into if he'd been given a Last-Minute Reprieve from Readjustment.
  • Power Level: 6.8 God-tier.
  • Secret-Keeper: Keene is fully aware of John's past, his abilities, and the fact that John's been pretending to be a cripple.
  • The Tease: Teases Darren about how his relationship with Leilah is going.
  • Shipper on Deck: He knows about Darren and Leilah.
  • Smart People Wear Glasses: Wears glasses, and is one of the smarter people in the series given that he runs Wellston's security.
  • Stronger Than They Look: Keene is often viewed as a meek and timid low-tier or cripple providing security for the school and its headmaster, but he will go to great lengths to protect his schoolmaster from harm. In Episode 337, where Vaughn's arrest by the Authorities takes place, Keene's true powers are revealed when he chases down the police envoy carrying Vaughn and takes it out with a specialized minefield attack, sparing Vaughn and Kassandra.
  • Undying Loyalty: He's this towards Vaughn. Even going so far as to fight the government in order to free Vaughn as he's being transported by police car back to the Bureau.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: He isn't afraid to call out the Headmaster for stopping the school staff from stepping in to curb John's cruelty against students as the new King of Wellston.

    Madame Sylvia (Unmarked Spoilers)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2024_04_18_113546.png
Superpower: unknown

The former headmaster before Vaughh took on the role. After Vaughh's dismissal by the authorities, she is asked by them to replace him, at least temporarily, and is far more conforming to the authorities then he was.
  • Evil Counterpart: To Vaughh, full stop. She's incredibly focused on the hirerarchy, obedience to the authorities, and doesn't even allow the school body to form their own clubs.
  • Tyrant Takes the Helm: At Wellstone highschool, though she's more of an enforcer for the authorities' will. Her immediate actions are meant to get the students back in line and out of their rebellious developments, by arresting vigilante students, threatening to expel low tiers, enforcing rank matches and possibly threatening the Safe House, which protected the lower ranks.

    Kassandra

Kassandra

CLICK for Kassandra's young side-story appearance
Power Level: 6.8
Superpower: Particles note

The number one student at Wellston during Rei's years at Wellston.

In the current day, Kassandra turns out to be working for the Authorities as an investigator which Valerie serves as her superior. She currently works as a head in Department of Anti-Corruption & Transparency. Due to the current issues going on at Wellston High, Kassandra's been given the job to gather up enough evidence to remove Headmaster Vaughn from power. She eventually becomes Arlo's superior when he starts working for the Authorities.
  • The Ace: She's introduced to Rei and Kuyo as the number one student of the school. In all likelihood, this means that she was the school's Queen before Rei eventually took over as King.
  • Badass Arm-Fold: Displays this when Rei and Kuyo are introduced to her.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: She appears only briefly in Side Story Rei and is most likely forgotten after this. However, she's later revealed to be a member of the Authorities who is keeping tabs on the problems going on at Wellston.
  • Color-Coded Characters: Red.
  • Disappointed in You: Show's disappointment in the way Wellston has been run lately, particularly since Vaughn has taken over and multiple students have become vigilantes there.
  • Good Old Fisticuffs: One of her methods of attacking is to create two giant arms of red particles to try to punch her opponent with massive fists.
  • The Leader: Had the leadership role at Wellston during Rei's years at Wellston.
  • Long-Range Fighter: During battle, she stands back and lets her red particles do the work. Such as firing spikes made of particles at her enemies.
  • Office Lady: A woman that looks like a sharply dressed office worker.
  • Power Level: 6.8 God-tier in the current day.
  • Seeing Through Another's Eyes: She has the the ability to see through her particles as if she has additional eyes, which helps with scouting around.
  • Spontaneous Weapon Creation: She can gather her red particles together to form solid objects, such as spikes or fists.
  • Token Good Teammate: She stands out among the known major employees of the Authorities by generally being a decent person and apparently doesn't know about some of the darker things the Authorities do.

    Rei

Rei / X-Static

Power Level: 5.8 note
Superpower: Lightning note

Remi's older brother and the previous "King" of Wellston. During his days at school, Rei went about ruling as a king where the high-tiers had to get along with the low-tiers. After graduating, Rei eventually became the vigilante, X-Static, to try to continue his objective of making the world a better place, but he ended up being killed by EMBER.
  • A Day in the Limelight: He gets a 2-part side-story between the first and second seasons that show off some of his early days at Wellston.
  • Color-Coded Characters: Teal.
  • Determinator: Following a chat with his mother that he shouldn't be peer-pressured to follow others just because they have a higher Power Level, Rei eventually comes to the decision that he will only follow what he wants rather than continue going along with Kuyo and his buddies' attempts to bully low-tiers.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Standing up to Kuyo and his lackeys is the major turning point for Rei where he decides that he's only going to follow what he wants, which is to try to help and protect those weaker than him.
  • Fatal Flaw: Despite his good intentions at Wellston trying to change the strong-to-weak hierarchy by making all the students feel equal despite their different power levels, he couldn't control how envious it made the top-tier students feel being forced to get along with the lower-tiers. As a result, fighting amongst the students broke out the moment Rei graduated, and only settled down again once Arlo stepped in to restore the hierarchy.
  • Hero of Another Story: Literally in the 2-part side-story but it's also clear that given his history he had his own adventures. From his rise to being King of Wellston, attempts to reform the school hierarchy from the top down, encouraging Kuyo to become a better person through their rivalry, and his acts of vigilantism, he led an interesting life worthy of its own series and was the closest thing to a Big Good on the vigilante scene. He could've been a major character if he hadn't been The Hero Dies killed before the main story started.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: He grabbed and electrocuted Brimms and Volcan to let Kuyo escape.
  • Internal Reformist: As King of Wellston he tried to change the way the school hierarchy worked, encouraging high-tiers and low-tiers to get along. He'd hoped it would change for good and did make positive change but the moment he graduated it quickly went back to the way it'd been before.
  • Nice Guy: He treated everyone equally, no matter their power. Even in his younger days at Wellston, he was already trying to help others, such as when a girl drops her stuff after accidentally bumping into him. The only reason he didn't was because he went along with Kuyo telling him not to do it. The sidestory also makes it quite clear that the reason he's one of the nicer students is due to his mother's parenting.
  • Posthumous Character: He's only characterized in flashbacks.
  • Plot-Triggering Death: His death at the hands of EMBER sets off the plot by dragging Remi to his funeral, which in turn causes Arlo to seek out Seraphina as her replacement, which then causes Arlo to investigate John after Seraphina's change in behavior can be attributed to him.
  • Power Level: 5.8 High-tier.
    • Years ago, Rei was a 3.2 Mid-tier when he first arrived at Wellston.
  • Shock and Awe: He had the same Lightning ability as his sister, but in a stronger form.
  • Superhero: He became the Superhero known as "X-Static."
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Gets his eyes and hair from his mother's side of the family.
  • Token Good Teammate: Amongst Kuyo's gang, he was the only decent person who never even took part in the bullying, and the only reason he was even part of the gang was due to his indecisiveness as to whether he should be Kuyo's friend, or protect the people he's bullying. In the end, Rei chooses the latter.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Rei was a 3.2 Mid-tier when he first entered Wellston, which he then powered up over time to 5.8 High-tier up to the time of his death.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Falls out of his friendship with Kuyo the moment he decides to protect low-tiers over continuing his friendship with Kuyo. The Rei-sidestory ends with Kuyo and his lackeys confronting Rei over his traitorous actions towards the gang, but Rei remains ready to stand against them.

    Kuyo

Kuyo

Power Level: 6.3
Superpower: Blademaster note

Rei's roommate during their years at Wellston. Kuyo started off as a friend of Rei, but they ended up having a falling out due to their different views on how those weaker than them should be treated.

In the current day, Kuyo appears to have changed his ways by becoming a superhero just like Rei. He first reappears during Blyke's vigilante missions and decides to support the latter, which results in Kuyo teaming up with the Wellston hero trio to take down EMBER given that he and Remi have a vendetta against them for killing Rei. On his off-time, Kuyo attends Wellston University where his roommate is Kayden.

  • BFS: He can combine the one-handed energy swords he creates into a much stronger and larger two-handed one. Kuyo's two-handed energy swords compared to his smaller ones are strong enough to cut through Byron's Botanist vines that have a Power Level of 6.0.
  • The Bully: Led a group of students who bullied low-tiers during his high school years.
  • Character Development: Went from being a bully and declaring Rei as his enemy in his first year to Rei's partner as a vigilante, and continues to be one after Rei's death. He also called Rei a dear friend of his who recommended him the book UnOrdinary, and showed that he regretted Rei's death to Remi.
  • Color-Coded Characters: Blue.
  • Establishing Character Moment: The moment he smugly smiles at hearing Rei announce his 3.2 Power Level shows that he's going to be the asshole of the two. Sure enough, that was indeed the case. He eventually gets better though.
  • Gang of Bullies: Along with Rei and two other lackeys, Kuyo is the leader of a 4-man gang that bullies low-tiers. Though Rei never really took part in it, and was just part of the gang due to his friendship with Kuyo.
  • Jerkass: Goes along with the many other students that bully low-tiers. Rei believes that he only got worse after meeting with Kassandra and the other Royals, which implies that Kuyo is trying to impress them. He also outright turns on Rei after hearing that the latter stopped his lackeys from trying to bully a low-tier. Later subverted. He has redeemed himself and lost these qualities by becoming a vigilante.
  • The Leader: He was the leader of his own gang of bullies that included Rei and two other Lackey students.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: Sports a really long hair and is attractive enough to get a few of Wellston background students' attention.
  • Master Swordsman: Given that Kuyo's Blademaster power revolves around swords, he's highly skilled when it comes to swordsmanship.
  • Power Level: 6.3 God-tier
    • 3.5 Elite-tier during his past high school days.
    • It's revealed in chapter 333 that Kuyo's recorded within the Authorities' database to have been at 5.6 High-tier, but to the surprise of the Bureau, he's actually even higher (not knowing that he's a 6.3 God-tier).
  • Samurai Ponytail: Sports a long ponytail with an energy sword.
  • Secret Identity: While the signs were pretty obvious, he's eventually revealed to be the vigilante that's been tailing Blyke during his nightly excursions.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: Blyke and Kuyo's efforts to free the Grasshill district by capturing Lennon, and having said amplifier terrorist sent off to prison, ended up being for nothing as the Authorities released Lennon, and Lennon retook control of Grasshill anyway. Thus, showing that superhero vigilantes capturing amplifier terrorists that took over districts is pointless as the terrorists are actually backed by the government by using amplified terrorists to help them oversee the populace.
  • Smug Smiler: Shows this off a lot towards those weaker than him. The moment Rei reveals that he's got a 3.2 Power Level, Kuyo smugly smiles revealing that he's the stronger of the two at 3.5.
  • Spontaneous Weapon Creation: His Blademaster ability allows for Kuyo to create energy swords that he either wields in his hands, or the swords appear as spikes on his body.
  • Took a Level in Badass: His Power Level has gone up greatly since his early high school days. In the current day, he's recorded to have become a 5.6 High-Tier, but in actuality, he's trained himself up to 6.3 God-tier.
  • Toxic Friend Influence: He was this towards Rei. Any time Rei tried to help out a low-tier student, Kuyo called him out for it and even started to get angry with Rei due to his indecisiveness regarding if he was on Kuyo's side or not.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Falls out of his friendship with Rei once it becomes clear that the latter isn't going to follow the former's ideals of looking down on the low-tiers and treating them poorly. He even starts to bully Rei once it becomes clear that Rei is going to protect low-tiers, but Rei remains determined to stand against him anyway. Eventually subverted as they became friends again after becoming vigilantes together.
