    Akasaka Agentsnote

In General

A guild that specializes in espionage. Worked with Roppongi Tycoons from Chapter 4 to Chapter 6.
  • Breaking the Fellowship: They're disbanded during Chapter 8. This admittedly means little to them, given how most of the members were free agents anyway.

    Kotaro

Kotaro

Ninja Boy

Voiced by: Orie Kimoto

A high ranking member of the Akasaka Agents, accompanied by the familiar Orochimaru. Despite his youthful bearing he has the knowledge and experience of one who has lived several lifetimes.

He is based on the figure Fuma Kotaro, head of the Fuma clan of the Sengoku era.

  • Making a Splash: His Beachside Variant's element.
  • Memory Jar: He's the one who introduces the concept of Artifacts containing memories, and this is precisely what makes him so dangerous.
  • Odd Friendship: Has something like this with Hanuman, best seen in their Golden Week Quest. Though a bit put off by Hanuman's cavalier attitude he does respect Hanuman's dedication to trying to be a ninja.
  • Older Than They Look: An odd example, his body is genuinely as young as it looks, but Kotaro has inherited multiple generations of his ancestors memories and experiences.
  • Our Dragons Are Different: He has the Dragonborn skill but it seems to be due to his familiar Orochimaru.
  • Playing with Fire: His main element.
  • Troubling Unchildlike Behaviour: He is genuinely a young boy, but through the memories and experiences of his ancestors winds up doing things like being a spy for hire, not to mention the... questionable dress sense at times.

    Tadatomo

Tadatomo

A Ninja Named Vengeance

Voiced by: Kentarō Itō

A canine Transient from the Land of Wa. After witnessing his father's death, he was summoned to Tokyo and began work as a ninja informant for the Akasaka Agents guild to amass enough money to find the person that killed his father. Underneath the seemingly cold front he puts up, he seeks to find a lord worthy of his loyalty. He also values those that put loyalty above all else.

Like the other Hakkenshi, he is based on a character from Nansō Satomi Hakkenden - in his case the Anti-Hero Inuyama Dousetsu. His Sacred Artifact is a scroll that grants him fire-based abilities.

  • Balance Buff: Has received a few over time to varying degrees of effectiveness: His Avenger skill buffs allow him to stop enemies from moving when they hit him, and reduce the defense penalty of his rage buff. His Lovesick skill on his variant got buffed to remove the defense penalty, greatly increasing his survivability. He also received a buff unique to his regular 4* greatly changing his Blood of the Beast skill. In addition to the defense buff it already provided, he could now spread a guts buff (auto revive at 1hp) to allies, could apply burn on move, and could apply the new ember debuff on hit enemies, greatly amplifying burn damage, as well as dealing extra damage to any enemy with the ember debuff. This buff allowed Tadatomo to provide some great party support when before he staved off death well... but not much else.
  • Covert Pervert: Much like his "father" Shino, Tadatomo has it bad for the protagonist. While he will only declare his loyalty to them, the Valentine Jail event has him give the protagonist a love letter. "It's... surprisingly graphic" is all that is said about the contents.
  • Damager, Healer, Tank: Following his buffs Tadatomo can do all of these, either in his regular 4* by spreading guts to allies, covering himself with defense buffs and burning foes to improve his damage, or in his Valentine Variant sacrificing some of this tankiness for support and damage, being able to inflict Bind, as well as deal more damage to inflicted enemies.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: He has a nether variant, yet his attitude in that variant is entirely based around his sense of loyalty, with nary a trace of the vengeance his regular card exudes.
  • Good Scars, Evil Scars: He has a rather large burn scar that encompasses the upper half of his face.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Introduced as a villain, but slowly warms up to the protagonist. He eventually joins the Summoners.
  • Highly-Visible Ninja: Downplayed and played for laughs. He's usually a stealth expert as be fitting his background. But when you add the Player into the picture, he quickly makes himself known to wait on them hand and foot.
  • Necromancer: A rather horrifying application of his sacred artifact. The scroll apparently contains ninjutsus that can reanimate enemy corpses as flaming zombies at the user's command.
  • Not the Intended Use: Late in the story, Tadatomo couples his ninja skills of manipulating fire with Shino's sword's Rule to "always strike the neck", which results in him turning what had been an already terrifying melee weapon into a neck-seeking, bladed, flaming, controllable missile. The reason for doing so? His swordwork is still sloppy.
  • Playing with Fire: Whenever he unravels his Scroll Sacred Artifact, he is about to use fiery techniques. This ability was lifted from the character upon whom he's based. Tadatomo prefers using his fire skills so much that Shino sharply critiques him for it, as though it might be effective, it means he's focused so much on it that his skill in defending himself with a blade is poor.
  • Significant Wardrobe Shift: Eventually begins wearing Shino's vest, along with bearing Shino's sword.
  • Stock Ninja Weaponry: Is shown to use kunai and short swords in his 3-star skin.
  • Stripperiffic: It's subtle, but his pants don't actually cover his groin or thighs - the red fabric visible is his fundoshi, meaning his underwear is perpetually in view.
  • Taking Up the Mantle: After a great deal of searching, physically and otherwise, Tadatomo chooses to carry Shino's sword and wear his "father's" vest, determined to continue on the legacy of the Hakkenshi's spiritual father.
  • Undying Loyalty: To the protagonist, after awakening the memories of a previous owner within his scroll Sacred Artifact. It is also the virtue he embodies as a Hakkenshi.

    Ose

Ose

Original Form

Voiced by: Satsuki Yukino, Kenyuu Horiuchi

As an incredibly skilled spy, Ose accomplishes even the hardest missions with ease. This has left him bored with his work, which leads him to taking unnecessary risks and being overly cavalier on missions.

His Sacred Artifact is his crown, which compels people to believe anything that he says.

  • Bling of War: His Grand President skin has him don his old uniform which features a fur-collared cape, an officer’s cap, and medals of honor.
  • Cats Are Mean: He was perfectly willing to give a detailed report of Shuichi’s reaction of utter despair if Duo had allowed Ose to break the news to his older brother that Duo didn’t need him anymore.
  • Cool Crown: The shape of his Sacred Artifact.
  • Evil Gloating: He really got a kick out of Shuichi’s utter despair at finally realizing Duo has betrayed his brother for the Representatives and was playing Shuichi like a fiddle the whole game.
  • The Gunslinger: He is typically seen with a golden 9mm Parabellum equipped with a muzzle.
  • Impossibly Cool Clothes: He typically wears a white tuxedo with a rose corsage, black bow-tie and dress shoes, and a maroon dress shirt. He can trade this in for his old military uniform, which further ups the coolness.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: So far, everything he's done is because It Amused Me. He insults and demeans Shuuichi during Chapter 8, knocks out Jambavan with a sleeping drug (pretending to be Alice, nonetheless), and has his own agenda.
  • Kick the Dog: He really enjoyed rubbing in the fact that Shuichi may have known all along his brother, Duo, wasn’t kidnapped but rather defected over to the Representatives.
  • Master of Disguise: The power of his Sacred Artifact.
  • Master of Illusion: He was able to completely convince Tadatomo that a ninja log was actually Kotarou when the former attempted a mutual kill technique.
  • Mind-Control Device: How his crown really works. As a nod to his description in the Ars Goetia, Ose’s crown has the power to convince and deceive not just his targets but also the world’s cognition into believing his illusions. With it, Ose, in an Alice disguise, was able to fool even Jambavan’s own sacred artifact, preventing Jambavan from having the strength to fight back when Ose drugged him. Compare to his Ars Goetia counterpart, Ose’s powers are up to eleven here.
  • Perception Filter: The most common use of his crown. This allows Ose to move undetected within other organizations and gather information by becoming one of their members.
  • Shout-Out: The golden gun and spy theme is a clear reference to James Bond. And both his Child and Adult forms are a not so subtle reference to Detective Conan.
  • A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing: Deliberately changes his form to that of a child as to seem less intimidating when approaching Alice and Jambavan. He remains in that form for the remainder of Chapter 6.

    Mineaki

Mineaki

Sports Physician

Voiced by: Kazushige Shimofusa

A doctor introduced in Chapter 4. He's one of the more affable members of the Agents, genuinely caring for his patients.

His Sacred Artifact - his cybernetic eye from Deva Loka - allows him to diagnose any injury or illness, as well as see through space and time through clairvoyance.

  • Creepy Good: Mineaki is a genuinely good person, whose main goal is keeping his students safe. However his way of speaking and appearance creep people out both in universe and out.
  • Deep Cover Agent: His being a member of the Agents is not too well known, and it was through that that he could become a physician at Yoyogi Academy. One of his titles is even "Triple Agent".
  • Light 'em Up: His Onsen variant has the Aether attribute, though he has no light related powers.
  • Magical Eye: His artifact is an artificial eye that can see through time and space.
  • Making a Splash: His usual element is water, though he himself has no water powers.
  • Mutually Exclusive Power Ups: His Onsen skillset has a downplayed version of this. His skills have one effect if he hits a foe (debuffs) and a different affect if he does not hit (buffs to allies). As a result only half of his kit can be active at any one time.
  • Seers: His Artifact allows him to see the future. Because of this, he's been able to survive to the end of every single time loop.
  • White Mage: His normal self functions as one in gameplay, capable of healing damage and removing debuffs... and not much else.

    Sphinx

Sphinx

Guardian of Death and the Night

Voiced by: Junko Noda

A transient from Aaru, Sphinx is... well a sphinx. A creator of riddles and watcher of the dead, his young appearance is due to him not eating souls (since that would mean one less person to tell riddles to). He is one of very few transients to possess the Null attribute (in his case in his 4* self), proof that he is disconnected from the world as a whole.

  • Collector of the Strange: Collects OOParts and urban legends in existential limbo.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: His 3*/4* attributes are Nether and Null respectively, but he's an alright individual... if a bit obsessed with his pastime.
  • Hates Being Alone: The job of watcher of the dead is a very lonely one, with the only people he regularly saw being the newly dead, who he eventually had to let go to their judgement.
  • Not Growing Up Sucks: Because he never ate souls (it would deprive him of guests), he still looks prepubescent, and hates being treated as if he were a little boy.
  • Older Than They Look: Despite how he may act at times, he has watched the land of the dead for many years prior to being summoned, but since he never ate souls he never got the nutrition to physically mature.
  • The Pen Is Mightier: His artifact is a feather pen, used to create areas from which one cannot escape unless certain conditions are met. He uses it mostly to keep people playing his games and riddles. His 4* title is even "The Pen is Mightier Than the Sword".
  • Stripperific: His outfit can generously be called a loincloth and some jewelry. His swimwear is just him putting a shirt on.
  • Support Party Member: His skillset all involves buffing allies in front of him, particularly when he himself is buffed. One of his most notable traits is expanding allies attack ranges to magic and restricting enemy attacks to blow range. His Charge Skill also provides healing and Glint (Skill rate up).
