The Stockholms

    Jasper Williams
Voiced by: Geoff Galt
A dedicated bank robber who has been holding people hostage for over five months and still going strong.
  • Affably Evil: What makes him the master of the Mood Whiplash.
  • Anti-Villain: He may be a homicidal thief, but it's been shown that he actually cares about the happiness of his hostages and he bends over backwards to cheer them up, whenever they're down in the dumps.
  • Bank Robbery: Jasper is a bank robber.
  • Caught Coming Home Late: Jasper was this in "Emotions Eleven" when he snuck out to go rob another bank and Charlene was waiting for him and very angry.
  • Do Not Call Me "Paul": Doesn't like it when Marlee calls him "Dad", but he dropped this in "The Prom Job".
  • Hostage Situation: Jasper holds people hostage.
  • Immediate Self-Contradiction: In "Bankrupt," Jasper claims in shock that if he doesn't raise enough money they will be evicted (despite the fact that since he's already breaking the law), before collapsing onto his massive throne of money.
  • Killed Off for Real: In the series finale, Jasper is abruptly shot dead by the sniper.
  • Malevolent Masked Men: Downplayed. Jasper wears a mask and is a bank robber and a hostage taker, but he actually means no harm to the hostages or to the police.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Jasper can pretty much get whatever he wants to be delivered to him, by threatening to kill his hostages if the police don't give him what he asks for.
  • Stocking Mask: Always seen wearing one. Taken up to eleven as he keeps it even when he's shaving.
  • Stubborn Mule: He tends to be this a lot, ignoring his hostages and forcing them to live a very shitty lifestyle. However, he usually changes his ways at the end of the episode and learns to compromise with his family so that everybody can be happy.
  • Villain Protagonist: Jasper is a robber and the main character of the series.
  • Weapon for Intimidation: The season one finale reveals that he dropped the bullets into a drain and thus has been threatening everyone with an empty gun.
    Charlene
Voiced by: Jessica Calvello
A banker who, after getting held hostage and tied to a chair, now plays the mother figure to the family.
  • Action Girl: Despite being tied to a chair, Charlene still manages to be an excellent breakdancer, as seen in "Bankrupt", when she was spinning around on her head.
  • Bound and Gagged: Well, just bound. Charlene is always tied to a chair.
  • Extreme Doormat: Being tied in a chair, Charlene is good for many little visual gags, wherein she's treated like more of an object than a person. People will set things on her head as though she were a table or hide behind her as a human shield, for instance.
    • Oh, and of course there's the fact that she's Jasper's number one go-to gunpoint hostage.
      • This is justified since she knows he doesn't have any bullets.
  • Hidden Depths: In "Holiday Heist", it's learned that she has a husband and children back at home that she never gets to see anymore.
  • Secret Secret-Keeper: She knew that Jasper's gun was empty all along.
  • Soul-Crushing Desk Job: If the theme song shows us anything, it's that before she was kidnapped, Charlene was rather unhappy and dissatisfied with her job as a bank teller.
  • Stockholm Syndrome: Charlene never complains about being held hostage and of all the hostages, she seems to be the most dedicated and at peace with the fact that she's being held prisoner in the bank forever. She has even fallen in love with Jasper and now treats him like her real husband, even though it's likely she had a real husband back at home. Even more so seeing as she knew Jasper's gun was empty the whole time and that she was never actually being held hostage.
  • Voice of Reason: When the rest of the hostages are bouncing off the wall and Jasper is flipping his lid, Charlene is usually the one who keeps her cool and tries to maintain peace in the family.
  • You Can't Go Home Again: She's stuck being held hostage at the bank and will likely never get to see her family again.
    Marley
Voiced by: Autumn Soeder
A teenage girl who plays the role of the daughter in the family.
  • Bratty Teenage Daughter: Of everyone, Marley is the most resistant to her fate as a hostage.
  • Celeb Crush: She has one on in-universe famous actor Chris Pine.
  • Hidden Depths: In "The Prom Job", it was learned that Marley had a social life back at school that she was sadly missing out on, due to now being held hostage for months.
  • Older Than They Look: Is nearing her adult years if being old enough to attend prom is anything to go by, but looks like she's in early adolescence.
  • Stockholm Syndrome: Experiences this for Jasper and even calls him "Dad".
  • You Can't Go Home Again: She's stuck being held hostage at the bank and will likely never get to see her family again.
    Yong Sun
Voiced by: Elizabeth Del Rosario
A little boy who plays the role of the son in the family.
  • Hidden Depths: In "Holiday Heist", it was learned that Yong Sun missed seeing his real family.
  • Meaningful Name: His name is "Yong Sun" and he is the designated "Young Son" of the family.
  • Plucky Comic Relief: Mainly serves as a comic relief character.
    Yong Sun: I have dollar-rrhea!
  • Stockholm Syndrome: Experiences this for Jasper.
  • You Can't Go Home Again: He's stuck being held hostage at the bank and will likely never get to see his family again.

Police

    Ned
Voiced by: Mike Salcedo
The happy-go-lucky hostage negotiator, who makes fruitless attempts to get a hostage from Jasper.
  • Beware the Nice Ones : Ned is genuinely a cheerfull guy, trying to end the hostage situation by befriending Jasper and by helping the Stockholms to solve their problems when he can. He is also the one who eliminates the more threatening Willy, throwing him into Santa’s bag, where he dies crushed by gifts. Although the fact that Ned knew that he was going to kill Willy, or that he just thought he was going to wrap him up in the bag, isn’t clear.
  • Big Guy, Little Guy: The big guy to Chief's little guy.
  • Extreme Doormat: He never tries to stand up to Jasper, meekly giving into every demand and accepting every refusal.
  • Face–Heel Turn: In "The Canine Caper", Ned switched sides and became a hostage.
  • Friendly Enemy: Although he's the designated enemy of Jasper, he is very kind and friendly with him, always referring to him as "Buddy" and doing him huge favors to help him out.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: His dog costume keeps his face exposed. It's later subverted then it turns out that everyone (except Yong Sun) knew he was really Ned the whole time and just played along.
  • Police Are Useless: A complete failure as a hostage negotiator, being way too nice and generous with Jasper. Ned has consistently failed to get as little as a single hostage from him and has even wound up giving Jasper more hostages than when he started, including Chris Pine somehow. Downplayed in the finale, where he neutralizes Willy by throwing him into Santa’s bag.
  • The Pollyanna: Always has a bright and chipper attitude, even when he's dealing with a fucking hostage situation.
  • Team Pet: Became this to The Stockholms in "The Canine Caper", when he went in disguised as a dog named Spot and became Marley and Yong Sun's pet.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: By "The Canine Caper", to perfect his dog disguise, he repeatedly licks Yong Sun's face. The problem is that he is a grown up man and a law representative licking up a 8-years-old's face. That's the only time throughout the entire show where his fellow policemen Korey Coleman and Martin Thomas are shocked by what they are watching. Downplayed, as Ned has (hopefully) no twisted feelings or intentions towards Yong Sun, and by the fact that Korey and Martin don't directly call him on this.
    Chief
Voiced by: TBA
The loud-mouthed screaming chief of police, who damns Ned for his constant failures to save a single hostage.
  • Big Guy, Little Guy: The little guy to Ned's big guy.
  • The Cameo: In the series finale, The Chief makes a brief cameo, awarding the sniper for his heroism in killing Jasper.
  • I Have No Son!: Chief hates the guy his son turned out to be, since he's always buying dog costumes and charging them to his credit card.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: He's furious because of how utterly incompetent of a hostage negotiator Ned is.
  • Mean Boss: Chief is extremely rude and vile toward Ned. Justified however, as Ned has been the head of one of the longest hostage standoffs and yet hasn't so much as rescued a single hostage.
  • Minor Major Character: Despite being part of the main cast and being heavily featured in the show's promotional artwork, he doesn't make his first appearance until Episode 8 (two episodes away from the finale) and from then on, only has a cameo in one of the last shots of the series finale.
  • No Name Given: His name has yet to be revealed. Right now, he's just "Chief".
  • The Napoleon: Although Chief is domineering and bossy, he is extremely short in stature.
    Korey Coleman
Voiced by: Korey Coleman
An invested cop who watches the hostage situation with his boyfriend, Martin, as though it were a TV show.
  • Audience Surrogate: Watches the hostage situation through the window like a show on a TV screen.
  • Shipper on Deck: in "Emotion Eleven", he is arguing about with Martin what couples would be the best between people inside the bank. They reconciliate themselves by the end of episode.
  • The Danza
  • Those Two Guys: With Martin.
    Martin Thomas
Voiced by: Martin Thomas
An invested cop who watches the hostage situation with his boyfriend, Korey, as though it were a TV show.
  • Audience Surrogate: Watches the hostage situation through the window like a show on a TV screen.
  • Shipper on Deck: in "Emotion Eleven", he is arguing with Korrey about what couples would be the best between people inside the bank. They reconciliate themselves by the end of episode.
  • The Danza
  • Those Two Guys: With Korey.

    Sniper
Voiced by: Rob DenBleyker
A sniper who tries to shoot Jasper unexpectedly but constantly fails.

New Hostages

    Pizza Guy
Voiced by: Connor Murphy
A pizza delivery guy, who was first kidnapped in "Dinnertime Crime".
  • Innocent Bystander: An innocent pizza delivery guy who got unfortunately roped into the hostage situation.
  • Geek Physique: He is a big fat, pimply-faced, ginger with geeky glasses.
  • No Name Given: He is never given a name, not even in the credits.
  • Only Sane Man: The only hostage who has not developed Stockholm syndrome and like any normal person, desperately wants to leave and go home.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: The moment he learns there's no bullets in the gun, he bolts out the bank.
  • Sixth Ranger: Hilariously subverted. Despite "joining" the family in the end of the first episode he rarely, if ever, joins in on the antics. He spends most of the series either fearfully hiding in a corner or briefly voicing frustration that he still a hostage after all this time.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Gave Charlene this look after Jasper told her if it wasn't for her support he'd have given up on the hostage situation months ago.
    Chris Pine
Voiced by: Nolan North
The likeness of Chris Pine, who was first kidnapped in "The Prom Job".
  • Adam Westing: Chris Pine always mentions the movies and shows he's been in, even when it's completely out of context and unprovoked.
  • Character Signature Song: Chris has one in the form of a parody of “Kiss Me” by Sixpence None the Richer titled “Chris P.” It plays when he dances with Marley during “Prom Job” then plays again when he leaves in “Bankrupt”.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: He has a ridiculously chiseled and detailed face and a head bigger than the rest of his body and doesn't seem to have any facial expressions other than moving his mouth.
  • Put on a Bus: In "Bankrupt", Chris left the bank to shoot a new Star Trek movie, so he could raise the money to help keep the bank from getting foreclosed. This is also notable for being the only time in the series, Jasper set a hostage free. However, it will appear twice again as cameo.
    Santa Claus
Voiced by: Christopher Sabat
The likeness of Santa Claus, who was first kidnapped in "Holiday Heist".
  • Bizarre Human Biology: He can only digest milk and cookies.
  • Hope Spot: On his deathbed, he offers up his powers to the Stockholms in order to keep Christmas alive. Since nobody but Ned is up for it, Santa gives up and dies, taking Christmas with him.
  • Killed Off for Real: In "The Sing-Along Sting", being away from the North Pole for so long leaves him very sick. With no way to get back, he eventually succumbs to his illness.
  • Santa Claus: He is fucking Santa Claus.
  • Uncle Pennybags: As Santa Claus, he has a big bag filled with toys and expensive objects that he gives to Jasper, the cops, and the other hostages to fill the holes in their hearts with stuff.
Santa: Got a hole inside your heart? Fill it up like a shopping cart!

Others

    Reporter
Voiced by: Bill Jones
A news reporter, who provides news updates on the hostage situation.
  • Intrepid Reporter: Works as an on-the-scene reporter for the hostage situation.
  • Mr. Exposition: Provided exposition for the basic premise of the series, in the first episode.
    Mom Sun
Voiced by: Denise Magdale
The mother of Yong Sun.
  • The Cameo: Her voice was briefly heard in the finale.
  • Disappeared Dad: When she appeared, there was no husband of any kind present.
  • Good Parents: Mom Sun cares deeply about the safety and well-being of her son and wants only for him to escape the hostage situation alive and in full health.
    Willy (SPOILERS)
Voiced by: Zach Hadel
Jasper's getaway driver, who's been waiting for 19 months for Jasper to finish robbing the bank.
  • Ax-Crazy: When we see Willy, he's screaming and raving about Jasper taking 19 months to finish robbing the bank. After he shoos his partner in crime outside, he plans on shooting the hostages despite gaining nothing from it, and specifically aims at Yong Sun first.
  • Broken Bird: Willy had to wait around in his car for a year and a half, waiting for Jasper to make his move and just watch him screw around with his little family. To make matters worse, he only had one song to listen to the entire time and that was Lou Bega's Mambo Number 5, which drove him to complete madness.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: He's proud of being a criminal and is angry that Jasper taking so long made him have to take up an honest living as an Uber driver in order to provide for himself.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Thrust into the dimension within Santa's sack where he is crushed to death by presents.
  • Evil Counterpart: To the Chief from "Canine Caper", both of whom are introduced shouting at the ones that work under them. However, while the Chief is upset with Chief Negotiator Ned for not being able to recover a single hostage and being indirectly responsible for the death of Santa Claus, Willy is upset that Jasper has taken so long in making his get away and his partners attachment toward his hostages.
  • Game Changer: When he's introduced, he takes over Jasper's role as the main character and sends him outside, while he holds the family hostage.
  • Go Mad from the Isolation: Spending 19 months in a car with only one song to listen to has not done wonders for his sanity. Granted, he was likely never sane if he chose to wait for Jasper all that time.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: Introduced in the final episodes to be an even worse version of Jasper.
  • Hope Crusher: Gets Jasper to admit that Charlene, Marley, and Yong Sun aren't really his family and he doesn't truly love them, crushing their spirits and tearing The Stockholms apart.
  • Hostile Show Take Over: When he shows up, he takes over as the protagonist for the last two episodes. He even takes Jasper's place in the intro during the Series Finale.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Somehow both downplayed and played straight. He's still a Laughably Evil, Large Ham Card-Carrying Villain courtesy of Zach Hadel, but he is very clearly deranged, evident of his attempted murder of Yong Sun, and his presence and death causes enough drama within the series to make it end on more of a bitter sweet at best ending with Jasper getting shot in the head.
  • Only Sane by Comparison: He is a Card-Carrying Villain who waited for 19 months for Jasper to make a move and kept the car running the entire time. He is also one of the few people to understand how weird the entire situation actually is, with his flashback showing him reacting incredulously to some of the episodes and Jasper's overall "playing house" with the hostages.
  • Rubber Face: Willy's face is very stretchy and mouldable, making several goofy and exaggerated expressions, whenever he talks.
  • Villainous Gold Tooth: He has a gold tooth that turns out to be a spare bullet. He's spent 19 months waiting in the car for Jasper to finish robbing the bank and is a Greater-Scope Villain that's an even worse version of Jasper.
  • Walking Spoiler: Probably the most revelatory character of the series.
  • Waxing Lyrical: He sometimes quotes Mambo Number 5 due to listening to it for so long.
  • Would Hurt a Child: He, rather gleefully, trains Jasper's gun onto Yong Sun with full intent to murder him, not realizing the gun was empty in the first place.
