Sylas' Rebellion

     In General
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Every main member has a past involving the Mageseekers causing trouble.
  • Gender-Equal Ensemble: The main supporting cast has three girls (Leilani, Yops, and Kara) and three guys (Rukko, Gideon, and Aiden).
  • La Résistance: They're a group of mages persecuted in Demacia now trying to strike back against them.
  • Morality Pet: Sylas' growing relationship with all of them is part of his Character Development. The main reason he doesn't kill Garen, Jarvan IV, or Shyvana is because of their direct intervention.

     Leilani
The leader of a rebellion who asks Sylas to join them for a brighter tomorrow. He refuses at first, but after she reveals her petricite crafting abilities, he agrees to join as long as he gets to slay Eldred.
  • Dangerous Forbidden Technique: She has crafted a very powerful, yet unstable, spell that would probably take her life if ever used. She's forced to used it during the attack on Demacia.
  • The Heart: She's one of the nicest people of the group who absolutely believes in hope for a new future. No wonder the rebellion started falling apart after her death.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Uses the dangerous spell she made so Sylas and the others can explain.
  • The Lancer: She mainly acts as Sylas' right hand.

     Rukko
A blacksmith apprentice who was separated from his brother when the Mageseekers came. After being rescued from captivity, he joined the rebellion in hopes of reuniting with him.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: He's the youngest of the main cast, and Sylas was skeptical about his abilities until he sees his magic in action.
  • The Blacksmith: He's in charge of the forge, and helps Sylas by strengthening his chains.
  • Playing with Fire: A powerful fire mage, which is as handy for smithing as it is for combat.
  • Technicolor Fire: His fire is a bright blue color.

     Yops
A yordle imprisoned by Hesdeath who wanted to figure out the secret of her immortality. After being rescued, she becomes the main trainer for all recruits.
  • Plucky Comic Relief: Her talk dialogue is mostly light-hearted to provide a laugh.
  • Token Non-Human: She's the only yordle of the main group, and while she's technically not a mage, she does have beef against Hesbeth for imprisoning her, making her qualify for the rebellion.
  • Training from Hell: Her conversations reveal she's quite unorthodox when it comes to training the recruit.

     Kara
Leilani's teacher and parental figure. She's descended from the House of Durand, so she knows all about petricite and is naturally disgusted by what he Mageseekers are using with it.
  • Badass in Distress: She's imprisoned at the start of the game, and Sylas' main goal in the first quarter of the game is rescuing her.
  • Cool Old Lady: A master of petricite modification and the one who helps upgrade Sylas' Unshackled Mode.
  • Like a Daughter to Me: She sees Leilani as this, which is part of why she's fond of her. She takes it hard when Leilani dies.

     Gideon
A Mageseeker whose husband was imprisoned when he started to question their methods. The moment he encountered Sylas, he defected to share his knowledge in hopes of reuniting with his beloved.
  • Big Damn Heroes: He's the one who rescued Sylas after he was imprisoned again thanks to Rayn's nightmare.
  • Hidden Depths: Turns out he's good at baking.
  • Mr. Exposition: Since he's a non-mage, he mainly provides info on Mageseeker hideouts, bases, and their inner workings.
  • Muggle–Mage Romance: His husband was the mage, not him, and worked with the Mageseekers in return for his safety. They of course didn't deliver on their promises.
  • Replay Mode: When he joins the group, he brings a relic that allows Sylas to replay missions and get any collectibles he missed the first time around.

     Aiden
A potion crafter who worked in Demacia and fled after he was revealed to be a mage. He originally lived in Lux's sanctuary before deciding to join Sylas in hopes of reuniting with his friend/love Calliope.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: He gets very tounge tied around Calliope when it comes to his feelings for her. He does eventually get together it out, on account of her figuring it out.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: He's the one who gave Sylas his potion at the start of the game.
  • The Medic: He mainly acts the healer of the group and provides upgrades for Sylas' potions.
  • Punny Name: He gives you a potion to help you in the beginning; he's providing you Aid(en).
  • Shock and Awe: A storm mage.
  • Yellow Lightning, Blue Lightning: Green lightning.

Mageseekers

For info on Lord Eldred, refer to this page.

     Killain
A member of the Mageseekers who mentored Sylas during his time with them. He returns to assist Sylas during his escape from the capital.
  • Mercy Kill: Is forcibly mutated by Hesbeth for refusing to fight his former student, leading Sylas no choice but to put him down.
  • Token Good Teammate: Out of all the Mageseekers opposing Sylas, it's clear he has a soft spot for his student and was the one helped him escape at the start. The only reason he doesn't join up is because he still has students to watch over.

     Hesbeth
The chief scientist of the Mageseekers.
  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: When Sylas has him cornered, he begs for mercy until he's struck down.
  • Dirty Coward: Proves he cares only about himself when he pathetically begs to join the rebellion when cornered.
  • Evil Teacher: He used to be a teacher at a school for aristocratic children before the board of directors fired him due to his radical teachings.
  • Mad Scientist: His defining character trait. Hesbeth has committed cruel and inhumane experiments on hundreds of mages.
  • Non-Action Guy: Unlike the other Mageseekers, he doesn't have a boss fight and instead summons his experiments to fight for him.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: Despite his experiments, the others turn a blind eye to them since he invented the petricite potion.

     Wisteria
A high-ranking commander of the Mageseekers who serves directly under Lord Eldred. She joined around the same time as Sylas, hoping to control her powers.
  • Alas, Poor Villain: Despite everything she's done, when she's finally defeated, Sylas acknowledges her for what she really is: a girl who hates and fears the power she has.
  • Dragon Their Feet: After Eldred is murdered, she becomes the new leader of the Mageseekers.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: She may be remorseless in her persecution against mages, but it's shown she deeply cares about her apprentice Rayn.
  • Evil Counterpart: Wisteria is the Mageseekers' counterpart to Sylas. They were both mages taken by the Mageseekers on the promise of "controlling" their powers. However, while Sylas always questioned the ideas behind it and eventually ended up imprisoned trying to defend a mage, Wisteria ended up buying into the rhetoric fully. This is driven home when, [[spoiler:in the final battle, each of them seem to channels one of the Winged Sisters— Sylas channels Morgana, and Wisteria channels (or at least appears to channel) Kayle, actually using her powers for following mageseekers policy.
  • Final Boss: Of the game.
  • Final Solution: After becoming the new leader of the Mageseekers, she decides to execute all mages in Demacia without trial to prevent another uprising.
  • Knight Templar: She absolutely loathes the mages and wishes for nothing more than to kill them all.
  • Light Is Not Good: It's her main magic.
  • No Body Left Behind: Disintegrates into nothing after her final fight.
  • One-Winged Angel: In the second phase of the final boss, she grows a full set of wings along with large claws to emphasize her powerful magic.
  • Puzzle Boss: She's unable to be damaged in her first fight, so Sylas has the break the cage containing Kara instead to escape and win.
  • Recurring Boss: She's fought three times in the game, with her third encounter being the final fight.
  • Super Mode: Turns out Hesbeth was able to grant her the powers of Kayle, and she uses her own Unshackled Form like Sylas' own in her final fights.
  • Walking Spoiler: Her role in the final levels of the game makes her this.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Sylas considered her a sister when they young, only for her to turn her back on him when he got imprisoned.

     Rayn
A young member of the Mageseekers, and Wisteria's protégé. Her magical abilities allow her to pry on people's deepest fears.
  • Children Are Innocent: Both Kara and Sylas believe she's capable of doing good, she's just misguided and needs a better teacher. Sylas ends up doing this eventually.
  • I Know What You Fear: She can make people experience visions of their darkest fears, doubts, and memories.
  • Pet the Dog: Despite Wisteria's behavior, she genuinely cares for Rayn and wants to help control her powers. Following Wisteria's death, Sylas decides to watch over Rayn in his former friend's place.
