Other Nobles

Common Tropes For The Nobles of Remnant
  • Action Survivor: They've all been through their fair shares of horrific and gruesome scenarios, some still have their own kind of scars to prove it.
  • Band of Brothers: They refer to each other as brothers as a testament to their camaraderie and friendship.
  • Dark and Troubled Past / Dysfunction Junction: Almost every one of them has some kind of baggage or troubled background. Yuri was forced to become general of the Imperial Knights at a very young age after the death of his father. Jude's mother was killed by Faunus-haters. Zelos was born into an unloving family with a Control Freak mother. Guy suffers PTSD after being trapped under the dead bodies of his sister and maids who died to protect him during the massacre of his family. Flynn lost his father in a White Fang attack and has been a witness to multiple White Fang crimes. Luke is a witness of the Bloody Winter and suffers from a debilitating condition along with entire life has been a fabricated lie, seeing how he's a clone of Asch the Bloody.
  • Elemental Powers: Every one of Drake's friends shares a bond with one of the elemental Spirits.
  • Morality Chain: All of them serve this for Drake. With Lloyd, this is a given. But everyone else has given Drake valuable lessons that helped him become the badass he is today.
  • True Companions: While they tend to bicker and get on eachother's nerves at times, the group remain faithful to each other at all times and can depend on each other in a crisis.

     Zelos Wilder

Zelos Wilder

A noble from Atlas, Zelos transfers to Beacon Academy to help Drake in his investigation to solve Lloyd’s murder and bring the one responsible to justice. While he appears to be a handsome lech and provides most of the comedy in the story, he's actually a troubled soul and finds solace in his friendships. He is Drake’s team partner and longtime best friend.
  • Abusive Parents: This is putting it mildly, seeing how he was born into an unloving family.
    • He has the classic asshole stepfather who discourages him from becoming a Huntsman and focus more on the family business.
    • He has very bitter feelings towards his mother and hates the idea of her controlling his life.
  • Beneath the Mask: Zelos’s womanizer attitude is mostly a facade. He is flirtatious, extroverted and suave, but it is revealed that he was extremely lonely as a child. He indicates that the overbearing control his mother and stepfather had over him led to a very difficult and unpleasant relationship with both of his parents. After becoming friends with Drake and Lloyd, he became more pleasant and considers them his true family.
  • Boisterous Bruiser: Zelos is extroverted, fun-loving and daring.
  • The Casanova: Zelos is the classic ladies' man and very flirtatious. He also favors one-night-stands over long-term relationships.
  • The Charmer: Zelos is cocky and charismatic. He's a womanizer and has plenty of confidence when dealing with the opposite sex.
  • Chivalrous Pervert: While he will flirt with almost any pretty girl he comes across, he has a moral code when it comes to women.
    • He never gets intimate with someone more than a year younger than him
    • The girl must not have a crush on someone else
    • Never goes after an innocent girl (aka a virgin)
    • Never sticks his d*ck in crazy
  • Cool Sword: His personal weapon, Ether.
  • The Cynic: Zelos is generally cynical and pessimistic, but has a lighter view of the world than Drake.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Zelos always has a witty, snarky or sarcastic comment tucked up his sleeves.
  • Disappeared Dad: Yaun Ka-Fei, who has been absent all Zelos's life.
  • Fiery Red Head: While not nearly as prone to anger as Luke, he is quite a force to be reckoned with when he reaches his breaking point.
  • Foil: Drake presents himself as aloof, moody and serious; he takes no interest in dating and prefers to keep to himself. Zelos appears extroverted, flirtatious and carefree; he flirts with almost any beauty he comes across, rarely takes things seriously and enjoys having a good time.
  • Handsome Lech: Zelos is a very handsome young man who will flirt with almost any pretty girl he comes across. Apparently, he's memorized the measurements of every girl in his class.
  • Have I Mentioned Im Heterosexual Today: Practically any chapter featuring him has some mention of his heterosexuality or masculinity.
  • Heroic Bastard: He was born the child of a Faunus and a Human, and never officially knew his father.
  • Lonely Rich Kid: As a child he had no friends and assumed everyone was just after his position
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: Oh, absolutely.
  • Magic Knight: He wields a sword and shield, but his semblance grants him enhanced attributes and he has access to elemental aura attacks.
  • Meaningful Name: His name, “Zelos”, means “zeal, ardor, jealousy" in Ancient Greek, which are emotions commonly associated with the color green.
  • The Nicknamer: Affectionately calls Drake, “bud”, much to his annoyance.
  • Odd Friendship: With Drake. See the entry for this trope under him.
  • Parental Abandonment: His biological father, Yuan Ka-Fai, left before he was born and has never been present in his life.
  • Shipper on Deck: He has always encouraged Drake to go out and meet a girl, much to Drake’s exasperation.
    • When he sees Drake and Yang argue over a match they had together, he calls out, “Jesus… make out already.” much to Drake’s annoyance and Yang’s embarrassment.
  • Spoiled Brat: When he was a kid. Befriending Drake and Lloyd helped change all that.
  • Undying Loyalty: To his friends.
    • But especially Drake. He’s willing to take more drastic measures for his friend’s sake, be it blackmailing, killing or even betraying. He’ll always do right by him, even if that means hurting him.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: With Drake. See the entry for this trope under him.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Does this to Blake. He had his reasons.

     Yuri Lowell

Yuri Lowell

A noble from Mistral and one of Drake's circle of friends. His father, Lycaon Lowell, was the general of the Imperial Knights. After his father's death, Yuri was to be appointed their new general. While he is a talented fighter, he is easy-going, rude and somewhat lazy.
  • Age Lift: Initially 21 in Tales of Vesperia, Yuri is brought down to his teens.
  • Animal Motif: His last name means "Wolf", the same animal that serves as his emblem.
  • Anti-Hero: Much like Drake, Yuri is willing to kill when the moment demands it and is willing to take the law into his own hands.
  • Badass Boast: "You don't understand, do you? I am not the one locked in with you. You're locked in with us!"
  • Back-to-Back Badasses: With Flynn.
  • Big Brother Mentor: To his adopted brother, Jude. Despite him being a faunus, Yuri was very good to him and stuck up for him.
  • Blood Knight: Literally. His weapon becomes more powerful when it comes into contact with blood. Exaggerated when it makes contact with his blood.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: Yuri is a very talented fighter and leader, but comes off as an unmotivated, easy-going slacker most of the time.
  • Brutal Honesty: Yuri never sugarcoats his words. Ever. Regardless of who you are, Yuri will be as blunt as he wants.
  • The Cynic: After Drake, Yuri is easily the second most cynical of the group.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: While he is Tall, Dark, and Snarky, he is actually a friendly guy who enjoys helping people. Just don't do anything evil in front of him.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Yuri is well know for his rude and sarcastic wit.
  • The Gadfly: Yuri enjoys teasing people and pranks, seeing how he rigged Zelos's closet with a boxing glove to the lower-zone.
  • Iconic Item: His golden bracelet, which is a memento of his late father.
  • Katanas Are Just Better: His personal weapon, Abysson, gets more powerful the more it comes into contact with blood and Grimm flesh.
  • Odd Friendship: With Weiss. The two of them have some history together and seem to be on good terms. Odd, seeing how different the two of them are.
  • Shipper on Deck: When he almost barges in on what appears to be an intimate session between Drake and Yang, he is quick to leave, not wanting to interfere with a friend's affair.
  • Tall, Dark, and Snarky: Yuri pretty much embodies this trope.

     Flynn Scifo

Flynn Scifo

A noble of Mistral and Yuri's best friend. His father, Guren Scifo, was Lycaon Lowell's assistant General and was killed during a White Fang raid.
  • The Ace: Drake considers him to be the strongest of his friends.
  • Back-to-Back Badasses: With Yuri.
  • Barrier Warrior: As a testament to Flynn’s desire to being the perfect shield to those he cares for, his semblance grants him the ability to create aura barriers to shield him and allies from harm.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: While Flynn prefers to avoid fighting at the best of times, he's an accomplished fighter and medic.
  • Combat Medic: Flynn has experience in medical techniques, but most of his talents are suited for combat.
  • Covert Pervert: While he doesn’t chase skirts like Zelos does, he ends up dealing with a lot of sexual tension with Pronyma during their fight.
  • Childhood Friends/Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Yuri.
  • Choice of Two Weapons: He carries a sword and shield, befitting his knightly persona.
  • Humble Hero: He isn’t one to brag and believes that all of his friends are equally skilled in their own way.
  • Knight in Shining Armor: His character is modeled after that archetype.
  • Lethal Chef: Drake and Yuri both describe his cooking as roulette; ‘It’s either the greatest thing you’ve ever had, or the biggest mistake you’ve ever tasted.’
  • Martial Pacifist:
  • Nice Guy: Flynn is easily one of the most soft-spoken and friendly of Drake’s friends. He's so nice, even Coco couldn't bring herself to tell him how horrendous his cooking is.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: Inverted. Flynn almost never swears, which explains everyone’s surprise when he remarks, “Frankly, I don’t give a damn.”
  • This Means War!: He declares this on Ozpin after learning the truth behind his plans of bringing Drake to Beacon with the plan of turning him into an ideal Huntsman.

     Luke Fon Fabre

Luke Fon Fabre

A noble from Vacuo who's family has been strong supporters of Faunus rights.
  • Animal Motif: Luke has key chain on his sword that depicts a lion.
  • Back-to-Back Badasses: With Guy.
  • Berserk Button: Never, EVER call him "Asch".
  • Fiery Redhead: He's the most impatient and immature of Drake's friends.
  • Good Samaritan: Towards the Faunus. Hubert even calls him as such, seeing how he's been a supporter for Faunus rights charities in his homeland of Vacuo.
  • Handicapped Badass: Luke suffers from a chronic illness, but is still capable of putting up a fight (with a little help from Volt).
  • Manchild: Luke is impatient, short-tempered, and immature for his age.

     Guy Cecil

Guy Cecil

A noble of Vacuo and Luke's best friend.
  • Back-to-Back Badasses: With Luke.
  • Does Not Like Women: Averted. Despite his gynophobia, Guy does not harbor any particular dislike towards women. He just doesn't like it when a girl touches him or comes too close.
  • Hates Being Touched: Downplayed. He hates being touched by women. With his past, it's easy to understand why.
  • Heal It With Fire: Literally. Guy's semblance grants him an immunity to fire and the ability to heal his injuries so long as he's making contact with it. The only downside is he isn't immune to the pain. It's bad enough he has serious PTSD after being trapped inside a burning building as a child.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The Blue to Luke's Red, seeing how he's the more rational and level-headed of the two.
  • Shell-Shocked Veteran: He is most definitely embodies this the most out of Drake's friends. When he was younger, his entire family was slaughtered and young Guy was trapped under a pile of dead bodies within a burning building. How could he NOT be traumatized from that?
  • Token Adult: He's two years older than the rest of the group, making him the Big Brother Mentor of the group.

     Jude Mathis

Jude Mathis

A wolf Faunus and studying doctor. After the death of his mother, he was adopted into the Lowell household before studying to become a doctor. After meeting with Milla Maxwell, he joins her on her personal mission to seek out the Cave of Wonders that Drake and his brother uncovered years ago. While highly-intelligent, analytical and level-headed, he's a pacifist and prefers not to fight.
  • All of the Other Reindeer: It’s no surprise that Jude was bullied as a child due to him being a Faunus.
  • Badass Pacifist: Jude really, really, doesn’t want to kill anyone. He doesn’t even like hurting anyone; he studies to become a doctor and swore an oath to do no harm. However, when facing people who threatens him and the people he’s close to? He’ll use non-lethal force and fisticuffs.
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: Jude is a master at unarmed combat, capable of besting almost anyone into submission and not tarnishing his oath to pacifism.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Pacifist or not, Jude will still kick your ass if you piss him off.
  • Combat Medic: While he's unmatched in hand-to-hand combat, he's a doctor first.
  • Determinator: Jude refuses to stray from his ideals.
  • Handicapped Badass: Before arriving at Beacon, Jude had a confrontation with a very dangerous foe, which left him completely blind. Despite this, he can still navigate by sensing aura and using his advanced senses.
  • Nice Guy: His friends have argued that he’s too nice and too much of a do-gooder.
  • Martial Pacifist: While he does not take much pleasure in fighting, he is still willing to if he has no other choice and if someone he cares about is in danger.
  • Samaritan Syndrome: He has a hard time not offering help to those in need, even when it’s a complete stranger. (Like Milla Maxwell.)
  • Thou Shalt Not Kill: While he’s perfectly fine dispatching Grimm, seeing how they have no souls, he refuses to take any life since it’s his duty as a medic to save lives. This rule even applies to the White Fang, even though Jude can never forgive them for what they’ve done.
  • Token Minority: Jude is the only Faunus in a brotherhood of friends.
