Played by: Dulce Maria

She grew up on the road touring with her mom which left her often feeling neglected because of her mom’s obligations. Her best friends are Lupita and Jose Lujan.

  • Action Girl : As the most rebellious of the main cast she is definitely this. Her headstrong nature gets her into a lot of trouble.

  • Tsundere: heavy on the Tsun especially in the earlier seasons. However, overtime she definitely softens and is very sweet when she falls in love.
  • Will They or Won't They? : As of the series finale… they do.

     Diego Bustamante

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/095e5372_9c66_4190_a78d_a7d5e515e414.jpeg

Diego is the son of corrupt politician Leon Bustamante. Growing up having everything handed to him Diego can demonstrate entitled traits. He struggles with wanting to pursue his dreams of being a musician and his desire to earn the approval of his father.

  • Abusive Parents : His dad is the main **Big Bad for the majority of the series. He belittles Diego and fuels his entitled behavior wanting him to think they’re better and above other people while simultaneously telling him he can’t accomplish anything without him. Nothing Diego does is ever good enough for him and he constantly reminds him that he’s a disappointment. And that’s not even including the role he played in orchestrating everything with Paula.
  • Belligerent Sexual Tension : has tons of this with Roberta.
  • Chick Magnet : He is the most popular guy in school, the female students are often commenting on his good looks and what a catch he is due to his powerful family. As such, he attracts a multitude of admirers throughout the series.
  • Drowning My Sorrows : Diego often turns to drinking when he’s upset, and it almost always relates back to his problems with his father.
  • Fake Relationship : Early on Roberta and Diego are this in order to keep Diego’s dad off his back about the band.
    • Diego and Mia also fall into this on their trip to Canada while trying to make Roberta and Miguel jealous. They both later discuss how even though they’re so similar they’re basically family since they’ve been friends since they were so young and while it would be easier if they saw eachother that way their hearts are attached to other people.

  • Balcony Wooing Scene : Miguel and Diego’s apology mariachi serenade for Mia and Roberta.
  • Bickering Couple, Peaceful Couple : Miguel/Mia and Diego/Roberta take turns at both but especially in the later seasons Mia and Miguel are most likely to be the **Sickening Sweethearts to Diego and Roberta’s on and off.

  • Brooding Boy, Gentle Girl : His relationship with Mia is this.
  • Relationship Sabotage : by Sabrina
  • Scholarship Student : Miguel is at EWS on an academic scholarship. This puts him in the crosshairs of The Lodge - an elitist secret society at the school that terrorizes scholarship students because they want to keep the school “pure” and have a student body composed of only the wealthy elite.
  • "Take That!" Kiss : Has a couple of these with Mia. Their first kiss is in the middle of an argument and Mia is egging him on to do something and it’s Miguel kissing her that stuns her into silence.

Other Elite Way Students

     Guadalupe “Lupita” Fernandez

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/88c7ac9e_ca16_48b2_8d5c_2d27de8c3e64.jpeg

Lupita is the good girl of the series. She's shy, sweet and tries to be nice and friendly to everyone. She always chooses to do what is right. Her family is lower middle class, and she's at Elite Way thanks to a scholarship obtained to her by her aunt. She gets along well with everyone, being very close friends with Mía and best friends and roommates with Roberta and Jose Luján.

  • Composite Character: While she's based on Luna Fernández from Rebelde Way (a Nice Girl from a poor background who's in love with the Jewish student), her personality is similar to Laura Arregui (studious, hardworking and doesn't get along with her stepsister).

     Giovanni Mendez Lopez

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/3feaa046_baab_4f35_9d5e_fac330ce2195.jpeg

Giovanni, who’s real name was originally Juan, is a a social, egotistical, yet very funny guy. He comes from a humble family who won the lottery and feels embarrassed about his nouveau riche beginnings. He tends to provide the most comic relief. He knows how to make friends, but struggles to let people really get to know the real him and can be easily influenced by others. His best friends (and roommates) are Diego and Tomas.

    Victoria "Vico" Paz

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rebelde_vico_0.jpg
Played by: Angélique Boyer

Victoria is Celina and Mia's best friend. She has a reputation for being "easy." She likes to tease guys and toy with their emotions. Vico comes from a family with a twisted background.

  • Abusive Parents: Her mother left her and her father at a young age, which triggered her father's alcoholism. As a result, Vico was at the blunt end of her father's physical abuse and psychological torment.
  • Foil: To Celina. Vico is thin, pretty, has self-esteem, hangs out with all the boys at school, but at the same time, she hides her true emotions and her problem with her family. Celina is fat, has a low self-esteem, is rejected by almost all high school boys, and makes no attempt to hide her emotions and problems from her friends.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: Vico and Celina are Mia's best friends, and are always together when Mia is not present.
  • Ms. Fanservice: One of the female characters with the most scenes with bikinis or miniskirts.
  • Opposites Attract: Vico is cynical and realist. Eventually she falls in love with idealistic Rocco.
  • Really Gets Around: Vico usually hangs out with a lot of different guys at school, and she has a well-known reputation in school for this.

    Celina Ferrer

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rebelde_celina.jpg

An overweight girl who often wallows in self-pity because she has never had a boyfriend. She is often insecure, although noble at heart. She is best friends with Vico and Mia.

  • Abhorrent Admirer: She is this to some characters, as Miguel and Leo, to the point of threatening Lupita when she suspects she likes Miguel, and also forcibly kissing Leo (although in her defense, she was led to believe that he liked her). In both cases, both suitors gently reject her and remain just friends.
  • Abusive Parents: Her mother is an unpleasant woman who is ashamed of her and publicly humiliates her for being fat.
  • Berserk Button: Celina is a nice and lovely woman, but if you make jokes or offenses about her weight, she will be furious with you. And if she suspects you're trying to steal the boy she's in love with... she'll give you a painful beating.
  • Betty and Veronica: Max is Archie, Celina is Betty and Sol is Veronica. Celina (Betty) is fat, delicate, sensitive, kind and insecure. In contrast, Sol (Veronica) is thin, beautiful, seductive, extremely arrogant, spoiled, unpleasant and full of self-esteem. Max is initially interested in Sol for her physical beauty and considers Celina just a friend, but after Sol rejects him several times and he realizes she has no interest in him, he gets to know Celina better and falls in love with her thanks to her personality.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Celina is a Nice Girl, but she can beat you up if you piss her off too much (and especially if she suspects that someone is interested in the guy she likes). Mia, Lupita, Vico and Sol found this out the hard way.
  • Big Eater: Celina eats often, especially when she is sad or angry.
  • Butt-Monkey: Celina is apparently the only fat girl in high school, considers herself ugly, is humiliated by her mother and most of the boys she falls in love with consider her ugly and unbearable. And when she finally has a boyfriend, Max, Sol, one of her best friends finally shows who she really is, and tries to steal Max from her. Oh, and she gets pregnant from Max.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Celina has never dated before the beginning of the soap opera, so she reveals herself to be a very paranoid and possessive person when dating. When she suspects that Lupita is flirting with Miguel (which isn't true), she immediately confronts her and tells her to stay away from him.
  • Foil: To Vico.
  • Forceful Kiss: Celina does this to Leo when she thinks he is in love with her. The two even fall to the ground, with her on top of him and continuing to kiss him.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Celina becomes this when she suspects some girl is flirting with the boy she's in love with.
    • She threatens Lupita for suspecting she is interested in Miguel.
    • She beats Mia when she suspects she is having an affair with Miguel.
    • She torments Sol after she tries to steal Max from her.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: Vico and Celina are Mia's best friends, and are always together when Mia is not present.
  • Hypocrite: A side of her. Often laments about being fat and how people judge her for it, but she's more than ready to leave Mia behind to start a friendship with notorious Alpha Bitch Sol.
  • Love Triangle: With Max and Sol. Max initially falls in love with Sol, but when he realizes that she clearly wants nothing to do with him other than a mere casual relationship, he falls in love with Celina, who in turn can hardly believe that this handsome guy is interested in her.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Celina is probably the female character with the fewest fanservice scenes, but she constantly wears miniskirts.
  • Stout Strength: Celina is fat and quite strong, as her physical fights with Mia, Vico and Sol prove.
  • Teen Pregnancy: Ends up pregnant by the end of the series. The last arc the series deals with her having to cope with the baby and all the consequences the reveal brings to her family and to the school.
  • Those Two Girls: Celina and Vico, but not as prominent compared to other examples. The two mainly stand/follow this trope when they have to play up as Mia's sidekicks.
  • Weight Woe: Has a lot of self-doubts concerning her weight, constantly comparing herself to the skinnier girls of the school and feeling ugly.

    Sol de la Riva

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rebelde_sol.jpg

Beautiful and sexy, she gets a lot of attention from students of Elite Way School and makes a very attractive impression, which first makes her a threat to Mia's popularity, but her cynical and deceptive personality quickly gets people to dislike her. Sol wants things to go her way no matter what and could be considered the only student at Elite Way whose intentions are not noble, no matter what the situation is. She is willing to ruin people's lives without regard of their personal feelings and does so via a multitude of convincing lies (although most of the time her plans tend to backfire). She hates Mia.

  • Alpha Bitch: Sol is one of the most unpleasant characters in the soap opera, and that is saying a lot. She is cynical, often manipulating and deceiving her own friends, ruining people's lives and even flirting with her friend's boyfriend.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Sol is initially not interested in Max, but when she finds out that Max is in love with Celina, she immediately goes out of her way to break up the couple and seduce Max. Celina at risk on one occasion. She lies that Celina and Mia are a couple and even puts Celina's life at risk on one occasion.
  • Love Triangle: With Max and Celina. Max initially falls in love with Sol, who finds him handsome but is interested in other guys. Max tries to convince Celina to help him conquer Sol. Finally, Max gives up on Sol and ends up falling in love with Celina. When Sol discovers that they are dating, she is shocked and horrified, and immediately tries to seduce Max and does everything to separate the couple. Whether she sees Max only as a trophy or if she really realized she loves Max is not clear.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Like most female soap opera characters, Sol has several scenes wearing a miniskirt or bikini.
