Main Characters

Ka Suo

Played by: Feng Shaofeng

Prince of the Ice Tribe.

• Awesome Moment of Crowning: Gets one after Shi's death.
• Chick Magnet: Two of the female main characters fall all over themselves for him, and he seems to be the Ice Kingdom's most sought-after bachelor.
• The Dutiful Son
• Heroic BSoD: Suffers one after Li Luo and Shi die.
• Undying Loyalty: He inspires this in other people without even trying.
• The Wise Prince

Ying Kong Shi

Played by: Ma Tianyu, Bian Cheng (as a child)

Ka Suo's half-brother.

• Awesome Moment of Crowning: Got one at the start of his brief reign as Ice King.
• Died in Your Arms Tonight: He dies in Ka Suo's arms.
• Eye Color Change: One of his blue eyes turns red after he develops his fire powers. To hide this he starts wearing an eyepatch. Note that this is when he also becomes King, so this would definitely be an Eyepatch of Power.
  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: The Ice Tribe have Icy Blue Eyes, the Fire Tribe have Red eyes, and the Ice-Fire Tribe, as seen on Yuan Ji, have yellow-gold eyes. In the last arc of the series, after Shi becomes Li Tian Jin, his eye color alternates between red and gold - probably depending on how much he's currently influenced by either side.
• The Evil Prince: Though not entirely by choice.
• Guile Hero
• Hollywood Genetics: He's half Ice-Fire Tribe, a quarter Ice Tribe, and a quarter Mermaid, yet his natural looks are fully Ice. Given his shapeshifter abilities, this could be a case of Hide Your Otherness.
• Hyper-Competent Sidekick: During his brief time with Yan Da, playing the role of Yun Fei.
• Ice King: More so than any other character, and this setting has quite a few. (And he's also literally the Ice King for a time.)
• Laser-Guided Amnesia: As Li Tian Jin, he forgets his friendship with Ka Suo and becomes convinced his brother is his enemy.
• Lean and Mean: He is very thin.
• Loners Are Freaks: Grew up without friends - his only occasional companion being Ka Suo - and even later on, prefers to be alone instead of socializing.
• Manipulative Bastard: He very skillfully manipulates everyone around him, be it the brother that he loves, the woman that he maybe likes, or the villains. He's also quite adept at manipulating himself whenever he isn't feeling up to confronting a problem.
• The Stoic
• Thanatos Gambit: He kills himself so he can transfer his powers to Ka Suo.
• Troll: Quite often given to mischievous behavior. There are certain occasions where it seems he likes to trick people and engineer situations simply for the lolz.
• Undying Loyalty: To Ka Suo. Really undying, too, since he's still loyal to him after he dies. See Sword Spirit Shi.
• Used to Be a Sweet Kid: In the first few episodes, he's a sweet and unassuming child utterly devoted to his big brother. While he never loses that devotion, he rapidly grows up to become a major anti-hero / anti-villain.
• Voluntary Shapeshifting: One of his powers. He uses it to disguise himself as Lan Shang when he plans to kill Flame. Later he disguises himself as Ka Suo, with disastrous consequences.

Li Luo

Played by: Victoria Song

A warrior and Guardian.

• Fake-Out Make-Out: When the Healer Tribe's guards come looking for Huang Tuo, Li Luo hides him under the bed then pretends to be making out with Ka Suo so the guards will leave. It doesn't work.
• Guns Akimbo: Can use two guns at once.
• Guys Smash, Girls Shoot: Her main weapon is a gun that fires darts.
• Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Lan Shang stabs her with the God-Devouring Sword.
• Kicking Ass in All Her Finery: She duels Lan Shang while in her wedding dress.

Yan Da

Played by: Zhang Meng

Princess of the Fire Tribe.

• Because You Were Cheeky To Me: The reason why she hits it off with Shi.
• Desperately Craves Affection
• Died in Your Arms Tonight: She dies in Shi's arms.
• Excessive Evil Eyeshadow: Like her father, she wears a lot of eyeshadow.

• Love Martyr: For Shi. He ignores or manipulates her for most of the series, but she keeps loving him anyway.
• Ms. Fanservice: Out of all the main cast she wears the most revealing clothes.
• Please Put Some Clothes On: Shi tells her this when they have an argument while she's having a bath.

• Whip Sword: Her preferred weapon.

Lian Ji (Lotus)

Played by: Kim Hee-sun

Ying Kong Shi's mother.

• The Baroness
• Broken Bird
• Driven to Villainy
• Mama Bear: Shi is her everything.
• Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal
• The Mistress
• Vicariously Ambitious

Lan Shang

Played by: Madina Memet

Princess of the Mermaid Tribe.

• Accidental Murder: She didn't really mean to stab Li Luo.
• Attempted Rape: Xin Jue almost rapes her. Luckily, Ka Suo arrives in time.
• Bed Trick: Shuo Gang rapes her while pretending to be Ka Suo.
• Cute Clumsy Girl: She's cute, and has difficulty walking without falling. Though her clumsiness is justified; she's a mermaid, and not used to walking.
• The Ditz: Friendly, sweet, and very naive.
• Princess Classic: And the only princess around (Ka Suo and Shi used to have sisters, but they're all killed by the Fire Tribe near the beginning of the story).

Ice Tribe

Lin Chao/Ice King

Played by: Shao Bing

King of the Ice Tribe.

• Parental Marriage Veto: He doesn't approve of Ka Suo's love for Li Luo.

Chen Tong/Ice Queen

Played by: Gong Beibi

Queen of the Ice Tribe.

• Died in Your Arms Tonight: She dies in Ka Suo's arms.
• Ice Queen: Though much less of one than might be expected. She's more The Stoic than truly cold.

Feng Tian (Grandma)

Played by: Cheng Peipei

Lin Chao's mother.

• Affectionate Nickname: Everyone calls her "Granny", even people who aren't related to her.
• Bunny-Ears Lawyer / Never Mess with Granny: She's very childish and eccentric. But she's also more than capable of walking into Snowblade City after Fire Tribe have taken over it, taking out every guard who tries to stop her, and helping Xing Gui escape.
• Voluntary Shapeshifting: One of her powers.

Zhu Gong

Played by: Zhang Ziwen

Eldest prince of the Ice Tribe.

• Sadistic Choice: Shuo Gang gives him one: kill his wife, or watch his brother die.
• We Hardly Knew Ye: Flame kills him, his wife and his siblings in episode three.

Ji Quan

Played by: Wang Yu

General of the Ice Tribe.

• Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: How she dies.
• We Hardly Knew Ye: She dies in episode three.

Old Ice King

Played by: Lu Yong

Ka Suo's grandfather.

• Sadistic Choice: A mild example. While he's dying, he orders Lin Chao to save his life by marrying Lian Ji. When his son protests, he asks if staying faithful to Chen Tong is more important to Lin Chao than his father's life.
• Unwitting Instigator of Doom: When he forced his son to marry Lian Ji, he caused Lian Ji's anger and bitterness, gave Flame a reason to hate Ice Tribe, and set in motion the events that would cause the series' plot.

She Mi

Played by: Feng Shaofeng

Ka Suo's ancestor, the first Ice King.

• Identical Grandson: He looks just like his descendant Ka Suo.
• Posthumous Character: He's long dead by the time the series starts.

Fire Tribe

Huo Yi (Flame)

Played by: Hu Bing

King of the Fire Tribe.

• Big Bad / The Heavy: He starts out the Big Bad of the first few arcs.
• Evil Laugh: Gives one at every chance he gets.
• Excessive Evil Eyeshadow: A trait he shares with Yan Da.
• I Have Your Sister: How he gets Xing Jiu to work for him.
• Large and in Charge: Played by the tallest actor of the regular cast.
• The Cake Is a Lie: He claimed to have a cure for Xing Gui. He lied.

Shuo Gang

Played by: Shu Yaxin

Crown Prince of the Fire Tribe.

• An Arm and a Leg / Artificial Limbs: Shi cuts his arm off. His father makes him a metal arm to replace it.
• Asshole Victim: No one is sorry when he finally dies.
• Bed Trick: He rapes Lan Shang while pretending to be Ka Suo.
• The Bully: Endlessly mocks and bullies his sister Yan Da and is extremely smug about it.
• The Evil Prince
• Smug Snake

Xin Jue

Played by: Jiang Chao

Second prince of the Fire Tribe.

• Asshole Victim: Only Fire Tribe are upset by his death.
• Attempted Rape: Tries to rape Lan Shang.
• Plot-Triggering Death: His death gives Fire Tribe an excuse to attack Ice Tribe.

Mermaid Tribe

Mermaid Saint

Played by: Shen Hairong

Queen of the Mermaid Tribe.

• Parental Substitute: For Lan Shang and Lian Ji. It didn't end well in the latter case.

Dreamer Tribe

Xing Jiu

Played by: Xu Ke

The leader of the Dreamer Tribe.

• Anti-Villain: He worked with Fire Tribe, but only because they might be able to cure his sister.
• The Atoner: He apologises for everything he did and tries to put things right.
• Big Brother Instinct: He's very fond of his little sister Xing Gui. Flame exploits this to make Xing Jiu work for him.
• Blood from the Mouth: He coughs up blood after casting a restricted spell.
• Cast from Lifespan: Casting a restricted spell costs him five hundred years of his life.
• Dream Weaver: He's the best dream weaver in the Dreamer Tribe.
• Heroic BSoD: He hides in his dreams after Xing Gui's death. Or so he makes Ka Suo believe.

Xing Gui

Played by: Xu Jiao

Xing Jiu's sister.

• Damsel out of Distress: When she's captured by Fire Tribe, she makes a plan to escape with Granny's help.
• Deal with the Devil: When her brother was seriously injured, she made a deal with Yuan Ji to save his life.
• Dream Weaver: Like all of the Dreamer Tribe.
• Your Days Are Numbered: Everyone thinks she'll die on her hundredth birthday. She doesn't.

Xun Hao

Played by: Tie Zheng

Chief administrator of the Dreamer Tribe.

• Anti-Villain: He goes along with Xing Jiu's plan to trap Ka Suo in a dream, but he later convinces Xing Jiu to let Li Luo try to help Ka Suo, and tries to advise Xing Jiu against using restricted magic.

Healer Tribe

Huang Tuo

Played by: Wang Duo

Prince (and later King) of the Healers.

• The Ditz: He's so oblivious that in his first appearance he doesn't even know he's supposed to be getting married the next day.
• Nice Guy
• Runaway Fiancé: He runs away to avoid marrying the woman his father chose for him.

Huang Ang

Played by: Li Haohan

Huang Tuo's father, and the King of the Healers.

• Jerkass: Tries to kill Yue Zhao, and allows several people — including his own son — to go on a wild goose chase that would probably get them killed, while all along he has the thing they're looking for.
• No Immortal Inertia: A downplayed example. As soon as the ice crystal's taken from him, he becomes a senile old man. He doesn't age to death because he didn't have the crystal long enough.

Yue Shen (Luna)

Played by: Lu Zizhen

Huang Tuo's love.

• Dark Is Not Evil: She has an aura of malice and can manipulate poisons, but she isn't evil.
• The Nose Knows: She's a Toxin Healer, which means she has a good sense of smell. This is how she can tell Shi poisoned her sister.

Yue Zhao

Played by: Peng Yang

Luna's sister, and the woman Huang Tuo is expected to marry.

• Arranged Marriage: With Huang Tuo. She's hurt that he doesn't want to marry her, but eventually she's happy to break off the engagement.
• Rapid Aging: When she's poisoned, she ages rapidly in a few hours.

Bear Tribe

Liao Jian (Bear)

Played by: Liu Dongqin

King of the Bear Tribe.

• The Big Guy
• Go Out with a Smile: He smiles at Chao Ya and Pian Feng just before he dies.
• Last Request: As he's dying he asks Pian Feng to take care of Chao Ya.
• World's Strongest Man

Hei Feng

Played by: Wang Tianye

A warrior who usurped Liao Jian's throne.

• And Now You Must Marry Me: He demands to marry Yan Da.
• The Usurper: He kidnapped Liao Jian and stole his throne.

Spirit Kingdom

Chao Ya

Played by: Chen Xinyu

Queen of the Spiritual Tribe.

• Parental Abandonment: Her mother disappeared one day and never came back. Later it's revealed she's dead.
• "Well Done, Daughter!" Girl: She wants to live up to her mother's expectations.

Pian Feng (Eagle)

Played by: Zhang Yujian

A guard who serves Chao Ya.

• All Love Is Unrequited: He loves Chao Ya, but she loves Liao Jian.
• Died in Your Arms Tonight: He dies in Chao Ya's arms.
• Winged Humanoid: Though he only has wings when he's flying. He can make them disappear at other times.
• Wolverine Claws: He has retractable talons in his hands.

Chi Lian

Played by: Wang Yidan

Chao Ya's mother.

• Cruel and Unusual Death: She was eaten by Die Che's butterflies.
• Dead All Along: She died before the series began. All her appearances are illusions.
• Posthumous Character

Die Che

Played by: Wu Diao

A powerful musician who serves Yuan Ji.

• Love Makes You Evil: Most of her crimes were committed to keep Chi Mo alive.

Guardians

Ke Tuo

Played by: Huang Haibing

Leader of the Guardians.

• Parental Substitute: For Li Luo. He rescued her when she was a child and brought her to live with the Guardians.

Qin Chu

Played by: Huang Deyi

Li Luo's friend.

Yuan Ji

Played by: Yan Yikuan

A being from the Ice Flame Tribe.

• Bed Trick: He pretends to be the Fire King to sleep with Lian Ji.
• Big Bad: He sets off the entire plot of the series by escaping his prison and murdering Xin Jue.
• Luke, I Am Your Father: He's Ying Kong Shi's father.
• Super Smoke: His most common appearance is as black smoke.

Sword Spirit Shi

Played by: Ma Tianyu

The last piece of Ying Kong Shi's soul.
