Main Heroines

     Hina Kaguya
Portrayed by: Kanon
A 20-year old college student living in Tokyo. She's the main female protagonist of the first two volumes.
  • Abhorrent Admirer: Towards Subaru.
  • Face of an Angel, Mind of a Demon: She's conventionally pretty and well loved by her classmates, but show any affection towards Subaru and all hell breaks loose.
  • Karma Houdini: Despite breaking into Subaru's house in front of thousands, if not tens of thousands, of viewers, and then abducting him, the worst punishment Hina got in the end was her parents pulling her out of college for spending all of her tuition money. Subaru didn't even want charges to be pressed, though it's probably due in part to the nervous breakdown he was having after being rescued.
  • Heel Realization: After Cosmo confronted her directly and Subaru being found, Hina realized the Subaru she loved was the Subaru that was the one out of her reach behind the screen with Cosmic.
  • Loving a Shadow: Realized her ideal Subaru is the one that's always going to be unobtainable as it's the Subaru who is having fun with the rest of Cosmic, not spending time with her. Not long afterwards, she exits from the story almost completely only returning by means of a fan letter saying she'll continue watching his streams.
  • Put on a Bus: After the second volume, she's only referred to in name by Subaru. She eventually returns by means of a letter in Chapter 40.5 apologizing for not being able to attend the NewTube FANFEST gathering in person and continuing to cheer him on.
  • Stalking Is Funny if It Is Female After Male: Subverted. Hina's actions would be deplorable whether or not the roles were reversed. Even in universe its taken seriously.
  • Villain Protagonist: It's hard to justify any of Hina's actions, given the lengths she goes.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: Touts blonde hair but her morbid obsession with Subaru makes her Ax-Crazy at the drop of a hat.
  • Wide Eyes and Shrunken Irises: Hina is drawn with relatively large irises compared to the rest of the cast, so they noticeably shrink whenever she's obsessing over Subaru.
  • Yandere: Broke into Subaru's house, smashed his laptop, then knocked him out with a tazer. After which she dragged him to a shack and tied him up in front of a camera in order to have a 24/7 personal livestream.

     Kotono Hanaori

Portrayed by: Ishii Anna
A 24-year old waitress at a maid café. She's the main female protagonist of volumes three to six.
  • Befriending the Enemy: After apologizing to Yuu, the two become friends of sorts and spend the day at FANFEST together.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Even though Kotono maintains a calm and mature air, she doxxes Yuu without an ounce of remorse after its revealed she went to Cosmic's address.
  • Big Ol' Eyebrows: Kotono has rather large, circular eyebrows though its usually not visible because of her bangs.
  • Chance Meeting Between Antagonists: Accidentally ran into Yuu just as her date with Cosmo ended.
    • Also happened to pick up Harumi's wallet and return it to her.
  • Cute Little Fang: Typically has one when she's happy, when she's mad on the other hand...
  • Dull Eyes of Unhappiness: Kotono's eyes noticeably lack the additional details of irises and pupils like other characters.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: Becomes a couple with Cosmo.
  • Expository Hairstyle Change: Removes the dyed streak from her hair after she decides its best to give up on Cosmo. In the epilogue of her arc, she entirely changes her hairstyle as she leaves working as a waitress in order to pursue an office job.
  • More Teeth than the Osmond Family: Whenever she's drawn worked up or in a panic with her teeth visible, they're usually all sharp and pointed like a shark's.
  • Not So Above It All: Scoffed at the idea of being super fans to streaming groups, though eventually Cosmo made her cave in. She refuses to let it show outside when she's talking with Nao.
  • Raven Hair, Ivory Skin: Fits to a T, save for a streak in her hair that she adopted from Cosmo's hairstyle.
  • Single-Target Sexuality: Only has eyes for Cosmo, regarding any other male streamer with either apathy or outright disgust. Even Hina in her unhealthy obsession with Subaru was still awestruck meeting the other memebers of Cosmic.
  • Yamato Nadeshiko: Checks all the boxes, though she's only seen in a kimono while working at the maid café.

     Ringo Kurogane
A 25-year old office worker with a boyfriend who's also a fan of Ginga.
  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: Ginga's stream persona of being blunt and rough around the edges is why she's drawn to him, though it's not to the point of Single-Target Sexuality as if he ever stopped that gimmick she'd just find another streamer that fills a similar niche.
  • Descent into Addiction: She's introduced in the 7th volume as a casual, well-adjusted fan of Cosmic but toward the end of the volume her obsession with Ginga had gotten so bad to the point of ditching part way through a date with her boyfriend to watch one of Ginga's streams.
  • Foil: To Kotono. Both were casual fans that later proved to be Not So Above It All and have a Single-Target Sexuality toward a member of Cosmic. However while Kotono's arc picks up after she's fallen for Cosmo, Ringo's arc is a Descent into Addiction. While both have a Mortality Pet in the form of Nao and Rikuto, Rikuto didn't have the same degree of understanding toward the hobby that Nao had so nothing could keep Ringo grounded.
  • Nervous Tics: Compared to the other heroines, Ringo's means of showing her addiction is being unable to keep still. She's either tapping her foot, playing with her hair, or aggressively swiping on her phone.
  • Never My Fault: Despite her boyfriend leaving her, she justifies to herself that she wasn't exactly neglecting him despite admitting to putting watching Ginga before him.
  • Not So Above It All: Similar to Kotono, she laughed at the idea of being obsessed with Ginga. However she finds herself worrying about his personal life every now and then, though she quickly discards the thoughts.
  • Oh, Crap!: As she spends an entire day after Ginga uploaded his collab video with Mitsukuri and Kikyou, she finally admits to herself she understands how gachikoi can obsess over their favorites only for her boyfriend to arrive at her apartment at the same time she did. The kicker being she had completely forgotten about trying to fix their relationship.
  • Otaku: She insists she isn't one as she doesn't send donations or comments, instead just leaving a like and moving to the next video.
  • Sanity Slippage: Her obsession for Ginga grows the more she watches Cosmic. At first it was innocuous as she was just watching all of their latest uploads, but then she started worrying about Ginga's personal life and even went so far as to snap at her boyfriend when he joked about streamers having it easy.

     Kikyou
The mysterious, self-proclaimed girlfriend of Ginga.
  • Animal Motif: Her hair style makes it seem like she has cat ears and she has the personality to match. Kikyou even has a claw ring over one of her fingers to scratch at walls like one.
  • Exotic Eye Designs: Playing off her cat motif, she has cat eyes. They even construct and dilate like a cat's based on her mood.
  • Single-Target Sexuality: Perhaps even more extreme than Kotono as Kikyou is a lot less cordial to everyone that isn't Ginga or his family.
  • Smarter Than You Look: While she comes across as another obsessive stalker after coming into Ginga's family home, she makes it clear very quickly that she's a cut above the other female characters obsessed with Cosmic as she can see through Ginga's act clear as day.
  • Wham Line:
(spoken in perfect synch with Ginga) "(You/I) have no need for love that won't lead to numbers."
  • Wolverine Claws: Of the fingernail-claw variety.

Cosmic

     Cosmic in General
  • Stellar Theme Naming: Each member's stream name is taken from space.
    • Subaru is the Japanese name for the Pleiades star cluster.
    • Ginga is the Japanese word for galaxy.
    • Cosmo is exception as his name is English and is a prefix to mean world or universe.
  • True Companions: They all met in high school when they were all trying to cut class in the same room. What set off the friendship was Ginga entering and accidentally stepping on Subaru's phone, which also damaged Cosmo's charger, so the trio went shopping for replacements after school.

     Cosmo (Cosumo Kirara)
Leader of Cosmic. Emotional and somewhat of a crybaby.
  • Clueless Chick-Magnet: While Subaru is implied to have a lot of women after him based on the amount of gifts and DMs he gets, Cosmo has the most on-screen women after him though he's not exactly keen on understanding they want him.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: His only real crime was being too nice, so getting attacked during a fan meet was hardly warranted.
  • Extreme Doormat: Replies to creepy fan messages despite Ginga saying to block them and goes on a date with Yuu after she threatens to jump off the building rather than call the police for fans harassing him.
  • Good Is Impotent: As the youngest and the leader of Cosmic, Cosmo also serves as the straightedge, trying not to get involved in controversies and trying to make the others behave. However, his "good boy" energy makes him the least interesting of the trio in pure view count; while he does have his fans, people are much more drawn to the charismatic but promiscuous Subaru and the more blunt and controversy seeking Ginga.
  • The Heart: The most emotional of the group and the one most concerned for the wellbeing of his friends.
  • Most Gamers Are Male: He's the Let's Player of Cosmic.
  • Oh, No... Not Again!: Upon realizing Yuu was trying to jump off their balcony like Rihoko had, Cosmo immediately rushed out to pull her off the ledge.
  • Scars Are Forever: Has a lasting scar on his forearm after getting slashed by Harumi.
  • Spell My Name With An S: Cosmo's given name is spelt phonetically for Japanese speakers but his streamer name is how its normally spelt in English.
  • Token Good Teammate: Subaru is a womanizer and Ginga is callous towards other groups.
  • Took a Level in Cynic: Grew to resent the group's super fans after Hina abducted Subaru. It gets worse when he becomes the target of the super fans devoted to him, with one even breaking into their apartment and calling out to Cosmo as the police took her away.
  • Uniformity Exception: Only member with his hair partially dyed and took his stream name from English vernacular opposed to Japanese like the rest of the group.

     Subaru (Kuyuru Shimizu)
Member of the group Cosmic. Subaru has a bad habit of sleeping around with fans.
  • Big Eater: The content he normally makes for Cosmic is mukbang challenges.
  • Break the Haughty: Being abducted by a deranged fangirl he slept with was more than enough for him to stop sleeping around.
  • The Casanova: Enjoys all of the attention Cosmic gets from female fans, often choosing fans to sleep with from all the replies his tweets get. He stops after the incident with Hina.
  • Can't Hold His Liquor: Despite being the people person of the group, Subaru doesn't attend offline streamer meet ups because a single glass of alcohol makes him incredibly ill.
  • Chick Magnet: Has a lot of female fans and even some fellow female streamers infatuated with him. Despite being outed for sleeping around with fans, he's still rather popular with the ladies.
  • The Dandy: The most fashion forward of Cosmic. In side chapters, he's often seen applying a skin care routine.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Sure he slept around with fans, but being tazed, abducted, and tied to a chair in order to put on a 24/7 livestream for a psychotic fan girl is underselling "disproportionate".
  • Demoted to Extra: Plays a noticeably smaller role in the story after the conclusion of his arc, typically serving as a Butt-Monkey to the happenings around him. Even during Ginga's arc, Cosmo plays a bigger role than him as his hiatus due to the injury is the root of the arc's woes.
  • Lady Killer In Love: Implied he may have feelings for Hina despite everything, though it may just be a case of Stockholm Syndrome after the fact.
  • A Match Made in Stockholm: Despite being kidnapped by Hina and subsequently rescued, he seemed to have developed lasting feelings for her.
  • Never Gets Fat: Maintains a slim figure despite being the mukbanger of the group.
  • Really Gets Around: Has had at least half a dozen girls he could call up on a whim.
  • Trauma Button: Situations that remind him of the dates he had with Hina cause him to fly into a panic as if Hina was creeping up behind him again.

     Ginga (Takafumi Tsurugi)
Member of the group Cosmic.
  • Alliterative Name: Takafumi Tsurugi.
  • The Big Guy: Noticeably taller and more muscular than the rest of Cosmic, though he's not the Dumb Muscle as Comso said he's the the group tactician. Despite his physique though, Kikyou mentioned in their collab video that he's actually unathletic.
  • Brutal Honesty: Rarely ever beats around the bush and gets straight to the point, like blocking a message from a deranged fan Cosmo received or scoffing at how gross chat was being because his collar bones were visible.
  • Camera Fiend: If there's something that could be used to generate views for Cosmic, Ginga's probably filming it.
  • Competition Freak: Takes the viewpoint that social media is a rat race to an obsessive degree, constantly trying to keep up their view count and becoming frustrated when videos underperform.
  • Cool Shades: Typically has a pair of dark tinted glasses. He also wears a normal pair of glasses when in his casual clothes.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Downplayed. His content was a lot more edgier according to the rest of Cosmic when the group was first starting out.
  • Expressive Mask: His glasses shatter whenever he's surprised.
  • The Dragon: To Cosmo as he's the one that's been coming up with ideas and strategizes on how to keep up the group's popularity.
  • Japanese Delinquent: During his high school days he had a disregard for dress code, regularly cut class, and had the height and scowl of one.
  • My Sister Is Off-Limits: Threatens Subaru with a hammer when he tried acting chummy with Miyako and reminisced about
their time in high school together. Cosmo pretended not knowing what was going on and looked the other way.
  • Sanity Slippage: As Cosmic's growth begin to stagnate, Ginga becomes increasingly despondent. A string of other influencers retiring and Miyako drilling in the fact their popularity won't last forever adds on even more stress. Then comes along Kikyou who sees through Ginga and knows how badly he wants to maintain their growth.
  • Shipper on Deck: Notices early on that Cosmo acts differently around Kotono and gives him encouragement along the way.
  • Social Media Before Reason: Rather than help out Cosmo from shooing off two deranged fans looking for Subaru, Ginga secretly films the interaction and later uploads it. He would later delete it as it was bringing bad optics to Cosmic, though he still laments the views it was bringing.
  • Stepford Smiler: At least when suckering up to a larger channel when the prospect of getting more views is concerned.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: Though he carries himself as the stoic tough guy of the group. A lot of his personal popularity comes from his gentler side. It especially comes out when he's drunk.
  • Uniformity Exception: Nao comments Ginga doesn't really have a specialty to content creation like Cosmo or Subaru; he purely has to rely on his personal charisma. Nao accurately reads that it's becoming a sore point for him as its causing him to stress more about numbers.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Everyone is Cosmic knows the world of social media is extremely cut throat, but Ginga goes to morally dubious lengths in order to maintain their popularity much to the dismay of his friends.

Other Characters

     Kogoki Rihoko
A prim and proper salary woman that likes to cut loose in gothic lolita fashion in her free time. Fan of Subaru and one of the many girls he slept around with.
  • Driven to Suicide: Tries to jump off the apartment balcony when Subaru declares he no longer needs her. Fortunately Cosmo manages to pull her off.
  • Elegant Gothic Lolita: Her hobby when she's not working.
  • In-Universe Nickname: Rikomero. Has a persona along with it too.
  • Murder-Suicide: Discussed. After the news broke Subaru was abducted, she laments losing her spot as his #1 and the fact they couldn't die together.
  • Verbal Tic: When in her Rikomero persona, she ends her sentence with -mero.
  • Villainous Breakdown: When Subaru declares he no longer needs her, she breaks down in hysterics while crying his name as the call ends. After which, she calms down and tries to jump off the building.

     Nao Washizu
24-year old office worker and friend of Kotono. Nao is a fan of Ginga.
  • Morality Chain: To Kotono. Whenever Kotono's obsession for Cosmo hits a breaking point, Nao is usually there to get her back to her senses.
  • Satellite Character: She predominately serves as a Supporting Protagonist to Kotono during her story arch, though she returns in Volume 7 for whenever Cosmo needs advice.

     Harumi Hakariya
A 31-year old woman and deranged fan of Cosmo.
  • Alliterative Name: Harumi Hakaryia.
  • Ax-Crazy: Broke into Cosmic's apartment and laughed the fine was more than worth seeing Cosmo. Would later attack him with a knife just because he wanted his attention.
  • Chance Meeting Between Antagonists: Dropped her wallet and had it returned to her by Kotono.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Appears early in the second volume after the video of Rihoko and Hina going to Cosmic's house is uploaded, decrying another woman touched Cosmo.
  • I Just Want to Be Special: Suggested to be an early fan of Cosmic that laments how the group changed the more popular they got, along with Cosmo no longer being able to focus on her amidst the sea of fans.
  • Mrs. Robinson: Seven years Cosmo's senior.
  • Self-Harm: Regularly cuts herself whenever she fantasizes about Cosmo.
  • Stalker with a Crush: Broke into their streaming apartment in an attempt to find Cosmo. Fortunately, they were returning just in time to catch her in the act.
  • Wham Line: Gives one to Kotono before punching her.
    "Grit your teeth."
  • Yandere: Perhaps worse so than Hina.

     Miyako Tsurugi
Ginga's younger sister. Loathes the fact Ginga is perusing a career of streaming instead of a normal job.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: Questions Ginga what his long term plans are since there will come a time when Cosmic's popularity has died off, leaving him with nothing to show for. Ginga instead laughs it off and laments not being able to record it for a serious video.
  • Childhood Friends: With Subaru. She used to be rather clingy with him, especially in high school, though the news of him sleeping around with fans ruined the friendship.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: The responsible one to Ginga's foolish, at least from her point of view.

     Len Mistukuri (Mitsukuri)
A male streamer from the group Hadal Zone. A male fan of Ginga.
  • Ambiguously Gay: His "Reason You Suck" Speech to Ginga at the start of Volume 9 could be interpreted as an Anguished Declaration of Love opposed to the frustrations of a fan meeting their hero.
  • Child Prodigy: Claims his mother was very concerned with his education and competed in piano competitions when he was in middle school.
  • Fanboy: Of Ginga. Though it initially comes across as a slight towards Ginga, he does genuinely enjoy his content with his gruff persona being the main draw.
  • Does Not Like Spam: Has taken a dislike to Yakinuku after his fellow Hadal Zone teammate has been consistently winning the weekly viewer goals, the reward of which being the winner choses where the group eats on the following weekend.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: The cover of Volume 8 makes him look more feminine.
  • Eyes Always Shut
  • Foil: To Hina, of all people. Both are White Hair, Black Heart characters (though Hina in official art has Red hair) that were Loving a Shadow for their respective oshis. Hina, however, came to realize the Subaru off-camera was not the same Subaru on stream. Mitsukuri on the other hand rejects everything about Ginga that isn't his idealized version of Ginga, claiming that it's all wrong.
  • Friendly Enemy: With Kikyou as they're both vying for Ginga's attention and are polar opposites to each other. They're more than willing to put their differences aside though when Ginga makes the executive decision in the situation as when they were bickering what to food to order in a side chapter, so Ginga opted to cook for them.
  • Loving a Shadow: A platonic example, maybe. Ginga's early livestreams when Mistukuri was still a high schooler got him through particularly rough patches of his youth between an overbearing mother and pressure from being an honors student as he came to admire his raw, unfiltered style. As such he has trouble accepting Ginga's softer and more vulnerable side, flat out calling it creepy or gross.
  • Smug Snake: Takes notice quickly that Ginga's demeanor changes if he's talking to a streamer with more subscribers, so makes him use respectful language all while he bad mouths Cosmic.
  • Social Media Before Reason: Similar to Ginga, he holds a viewpoint that nothing is off limits if it could bring in views.
  • Tranquil Fury: Made it abundantly clear to Ginga that the incident with Harumi attacking Cosmo ruined the chance for any sort of buzz for his group as they were the next to go on stage. Even getting his cheek slashed by Kikyou doesn't cause him to break his smile, though its clear he's extremely upset.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: Bleached white hair but hyper competitive when it comes to streaming and holds a great disdain for many other streamers.

     Rikuto
Ringo's boyfriend.
  • Love Cannot Overcome: Inverted. Rikuto is more than willing to make it work, even offering to take Ringo to see a doctor since she's very clearly developed a parasocial relationship with Ginga that's ruining her mental health, but Ringo is too far gone and breaks things off with him.
  • Love Triangle: Played off Ringo's love for Cosmic, specifically Ginga, as just being a normal fan, but finds himself at odds with it when she skips out part way through a date to watch a Ginga focused livestream.
  • Satellite Character: Almost all of his appearances in Volume 7 is because of Ringo.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: After finding Ringo curled up watching one of Ginga's livestreams during their date, he immediately leaves her in the theater without letting her get a word in edgewise. He returns a few days later willing to make things work but he's soon after kicked out.
