The entirety of the participants in Minecraft Manhunt, both Dream (the hunted) and the hunters (GeorgeNotFound, Sapnap, BadBoyHalo, Antfrost, and awesamdude).
  • Color-Coded Characters:
    • Dream: Green (in particular lime green) and, to a lesser extent, white.
    • George: Blue.
    • Sapnap: Orange. He was associated with red before Bad joined Manhunt.
    • Bad: Red and black.
    • Ant: Tan, and to a lesser extent, brown.
    • Sam: Dark green, and to a lesser extent, gold.
  • Friendly Enemy: The six of them are "enemies" only in the sense that killing one of them is the goal of the video series. Off camera, the six are True Companions.

"COME HERE, GEORGE!"
Click here to see Dream's face

The Hero of Minecraft Manhunt. Minecraft Manhunt began as the latest in a series of challenge videos he and his friend George were doing, but the unexpected popularity made it into a full-fledged series.

Also, only a small percentage of you are tropers. You can always leave a trope. It's free. Enjoy the tropes.

  • The Ace: Consistently able to think out of the box and outwit the Hunters. Tellingly, most of Dream's losses have come down to bad luck or the Hunters thinking even further out of the box. Applies to him as a YouTuber too, as he has one of the fastest-growing channels in YouTube history.
  • Alone with the Psycho: With the twist that usually Dream is the psycho, in spite of being the one hunted.
  • Badass Boast: Gets off an epic one in his special edition Manhunt with MrBeast.
MrBeast: You wanna wager some money?
Dream: I don't—I don't know, I'd feel bad for taking your money.
  • Batman Gambit: In the 3 Hunters Grand Finale, he managed to figure out that the three hunters were already at the End Portal and were waiting to ambush the moment he teleported based solely on their conversations and the fact that neither three attempted to chase Dream during his search of the End. He thus detonates loads of TNT through the portal to destroy their dirt surface and cause them to fall to the void, also making them lose all of their equipment and leaving him with plenty of leeway to kill the Ender Dragon.
  • Born Lucky: He's openly admitted to being this trope, though maintaining there's no funny business behind it. A good example is the MLG horse: upon emerging from a Nether portal he'd built in the sky, he was attacked, set on fire with lava, knocked out of the portal frame and was unable to water MLG due to Bad taking his water. However, a passing horse walked under him, allowing him to break his fall by climbing onto the horse right before he would have hit the ground.
  • Casual Danger Dialogue: Played for Laughs in the 5 Hunters Finale Rematch, where in the middle of running for his life from the Hunters, he makes a Product Placement for his most recent sponsor.
  • Character Catchphrase:
  • The Dog Bites Back: Dream lost the first round of 5 Hunters due to Sam exploiting a glitch to resurrect the Ender Dragon without the "Free The End" achievement triggering, which is what is used to decide who won the manhunt. So what's the first thing Dream did in the rematch? Punch Sam off of a cliff.
  • Defensive Feint Trap: In the 3 Hunters Rematch, he led the 3 hunters into a forest during a chase. He only had 1 heart left before he could be killed in one hit, but hits back hard by drinking a potion of Fire Resistance (to trick the hunters into thinking it is a Strength potion which could easily kill them even with armor) and begin chasing them off, giving him enough time to heal up and have a fighting chance once more.
  • Divide and Conquer: How he manages to still outperform all of the Hunters in combat even when they're together as 3-5 hunters. He runs away when he is outnumbered and surrounded but attacks and kill them when they're by themselves or in duos to prevent himself from being swarmed and defeated by sheer numbers.
  • Dressing as the Enemy: He'll occasionally swap to another player's skin during Manhunts to confuse the hunters.
  • The Faceless: Both in and out of Minecraft. His skin lacks a face (unless you count the smiley face on his torso) and Dream is a notorious Reclusive Artist who didn't reveal his face until October 2022.
  • Friend to All Living Things: A Running Gag is how often mobs work with Dream. Perhaps reaches its climax in the 5 Hunters Rematch, where a passing Ghast catches a falling Dream, allowing him to jump to safety.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: In Manhunt, many of Dream's craziest plays come from contraptions based on obscure aspects of Minecraft. Outside of Manhunt, many of the custom challenges he participates are done with plugins of his own creation.
  • Heroic Comedic Sociopath: Any of the embarrassing deaths the Hunters die fighting him are Played for Laughs. The best example is when he blocks Sapnap in with Wither Skeletons and let them break his shield and beat him to death.
  • Hyper-Awareness: Something that's present in every Manhunt. He's nearly always aware of what the hunters are doing based on their conversations and the achievements and he also makes sure to plan traps to catch them off guard and escape routes and such in case things go south.
  • Mad Bomber: A ton of his traps revolve around explosives. Most famous are the TNT cluster bomb from the "3 Hunters Grand Finale" and the firework crossbows from the "4 Hunters Grand Finale."
  • One-Man Army: You have to be to make a series out of fighting 3/4/5 other players at once.
  • Out-Gambitted: In the 5 Hunters Finale Rematch, after a long and lengthy battle in the End with the five hunters, Dream sees an unarmored and weak Bad and chases him, but Bad flips the switch by unleashing an End Crystal and detonating it, killing Dream instantly.
  • The Protagonist: In his Manhunt videos, he's often the main focus character of said videos. Justified since the videos are recorded through his POV.

The Hunters

    In General
  • Big Bad Duumvirate: From Dream's perspective, they're this. All of them have one goal in mind, "stop Dream from killing the Ender Dragon".
  • Five-Man Band: After Sam joined on, the Hunters formed their own Five-Man Band.
    • The Leader: Bad. He's the one who coordinates the Hunters and has the best track record when it comes to killing Dream.
    • The Big Guy: Sapnap. The team Blood Knight who both leads the charges against Dream and tries to take him out solo.
    • The Heart: George. George has been a part of Manhunt since the beginning, but his chronic unluckiness makes him the male version of Everyone's Baby Sister.
    • The Smart Guy: Awesamdude. Dream's rival when it comes to knowledge of Minecraft mechanics, Sam often sees Dream's traps coming before they set off.
    • The Reliable One: Antfrost. Formerly The Smart Guy before Sam joined the Hunters, Ant plays support, getting the Hunters upgrades.
  • The Ham Squad: To various degrees, but they each get their hammy moments at some point.
  • The Heavy: More like Co-Heavies, since they work as a group. Dream's main goal is "kill the Ender Dragon", but the Hunters are often his most encountered antagonists since they're right there from the beginning of a ManHunt video while the Dragon in question is encountered only in The End.
  • Out-Gambitted: Most of their plans and traps on Dream have failed miserably and/or backfired heavily.
    • Their plan to ambush Dream when he enters through the End Portal in the 3 Hunters Grand Finale gets literally obliterated when Dream dunks tons of TNT into the portal to destroy their dirt surface and send them into the void, leaving him with lots of leeway.
    • When the three hunters in the 3 Hunters Finale ambush Dream in a cave and nearly kill him, Dream throws a Splash Potion of Invisibility onto the ground, affecting everyone in the vicinity. Since all of them had full iron armor, a shield, and a diamond sword, the three were confused and unable to tell who was who, even resulting in Sapnap attacking Bad as he assumed he was Dream (and you can even see Bad attack him back) despite George telling everyone to crouch and Bad doing so. Dream uses this confusion to kill a weakened Bad and escape from the trio.
    • In the 4 Hunters video, Dream is up very high on a small group of blocks in the Nether. While they try to find him, they cannot as his leaves he used to build up do not drop as an item when broken, causing them to be confused as their compass also cannot detect if Dream is up or down. When he reveals himself to get them to tower up, he begins to fire arrows at them. They naturally begin to build a platform so they could not be knocked off by the arrows but Dream counters this too by using a fishing rod to bring up both Ant and Bad and let them drop to their demise, which they were not prepared to counter against (and could not MLG water bucket as water evaporates in the Nether).
    • While the trio almost killed Dream in a forest chase in the 3 Hunters Rematch, Dream drinking a Fire Resistance potion to fool George into thinking it was a Strength potion (since George is colorblinded and he may have also panicked as Dream wouldn't have stopped to drink a potion if it wasn't Strength) and thus making George run away (with Bad and Sapnap following his lead) allows Dream to heal up and regain a fighting chance against the trio.
Overt Operative: Since Dream is on the same Discord call as the hunters, they have to be secretive about what they're doing so as to catch Dream by surprise. Due to their Large Ham tendencies, however, they often give away what they're doing regardless. Bad is especially guilty.

    GeorgeNotFound

GeorgeNotFound (George)

First appearance in Minecraft Manhunt: Minecraft Speedrunner VS Hunter (FIRST EVER)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ohgeorge.png
"THE ENDERMEN ARE ON ME AGAIN!"
The original Hunter.

  • Beware the Silly Ones: With George's reputation as being a magnet for misfortune, it can be easy to forget he was the first Hunter. And being the least skilled member of the Dream Team still makes him one of the most skilled Minecraft players on the planet.
  • Big "NO!": Practically George's catchphrase, alongside his complaints about Endermen.
  • Butt-Monkey: If anything goes badly, it will hit George the worst. He dies the most, is chased down the most, and if something shifts the ball to Dream's court, George will probably be responsible.
  • Colorblind Confusion: George has protonopia, a form of colorblindness that makes him unable to distinguish reds and greens. This has hindered him on several occasions:
    • In the 3 Hunters Rematch, Dream led the hunters on a chase through a forest. He ducked behind a tree and drank a Fire Resistance potion. Unable to tell which effect he was using, George thought he was drinking Strength and signaled Bad and Sapnap to back up, giving Dream time to heal and also chase them away.
    • He's also been blindsided several times by weapon upgrades, not being able to see visual differences between tiers of weapons.
  • Doom Magnet: The number of episodes he's not been attacked by endermen in can be counted on one hand. And that's including episodes where they never make it to The End.
  • Flaw Exploitation: On the receiving hand. As mentioned above, his colorblindness made him mistakenly assume that Dream's Fire Resistance potion was actually a Strength potion (which Dream did intentionally to him), causing him to run away screaming and thus alerting Sapnap and Bad to do the same.
  • Handicapped Badass: Colorblind, but still kicks ass.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: George has been singlehandedly responsible for Dream's victories than any other Hunter.
  • The Scream: Although Dream and Sapnap are both screamers in their own right, George's screaming is perhaps the most memetic in part because he's far more hammy than they are.
  • Screams Like a Little Girl: Often his screams as stated in The Scream point are more dramatic but what makes his shrieks stand out is that they're often very high pitched.
  • Starter Villain Stays: The first ever hunter of the bunch, before Sapnap and the others, he was the only hunter in Dream's path, in spite of the introdcution of multiple hunters, he still manages to stay as one.

    Sapnap

Sapnap

First appearance in Minecraft Manhunt: Minecraft Speedrunner VS Full Diamond Juggernaut

  • Friend or Foe?: In the 3 Hunters Finale, after all three are confused by Dream throwing down a Splash Potion of Invisibility (and all of them including Dream coincidentally sharing the same armor, shield, and sword), Sapnap mistakenly assumes Bad is Dream and begins attacking him, even hitting George a little due to the sword's splash damage. Due to Bad being weakened, Dream took the opportunity to finish Bad and escape from the trio.
  • The Big Guy: Sapnap is by far the most formidable and bloodthirsty Hunter in combat, and is the most bold in group attacks.
  • Large Ham: He tends to be quite loud.
  • Leeroy Jenkins: Sapnap is the most prone to this, and it rarely if ever works in his favor. Most notable is after the initial chase in "4 Hunters", when he decides to go after Dream by himself instead of helping the other hunters to collect resources. Unfortunately for him, Dream has also had time to prepare and quickly kills him.
  • Took a Level in Badass: While all the hunters have improved over time, Sapnap in particular has gotten much better at the game. He went from being the Butt-Monkey to the only member of the hunters Dream will feel apprehensive about fighting one-on-one. See the main page for more.

    BadBoyHalo

BadBoyHalo (Bad)

First appearance in Minecraft Manhunt: Minecraft Speedrunner VS Slayer

  • Accidental Innuendo: Bad is rather prone to these, namely a moment during "4 Hunters Finale Rematch" where he claims his arm is sore as "a symptom of you-know-what".
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Bad very frequently sings about what he is doing, asks strange questions that leave the other Hunters wondering if he's serious, and makes a whole lot of puns and jokes that fall flat.
  • Defensive Feint Trap: In the 5 Hunters Finale, Bad gets Dream to chase him (as he is not fully armored with any weapons and shield on hand) before unleashing an End Crystal, detonating it, and killing Dream instantly with it.
  • Large Ham: Out of the entire group, Bad is almost certainly the hammiest.
  • The Leader: Bad comes up with many of the Hunters' big plans, and is adept at delegating his teammates to fulfil certain objectives such as sending George and Sapnap to keep up with Dream while he and Ant mine for resources.
  • Never My Fault: Bad is very quick to blame others when things go wrong. Even when he is as guilty as the others.
Bad: Why did you guys go down these perfectly mined-out tunnels?
Dream: (laughs) You're acting like you didn't go down it too, Bad!

    Antfrost

Antfrost (Ant)

First appearance in Minecraft Manhunt: Minecraft Speedrunner VS 4 Hunters

  • Cat Folk: His skin is very feline.
  • Large Ham: Averted, despite being a member of the Dream Team. See The Quiet One below.
  • The Quiet One: By comparison. Dream, George, Sapnap and Bad are all large hams, and while Sam is as level-headed as Ant is, Ant doesn't speak much while Sam tends to offer more inputs for traps, planning and information.
  • Support Party Member: Downplayed; Ant often splits off from the other Hunters at the beginning to build up resources while the other Hunters keep up with Dream.

    awesamdude

awesamdude (Sam)

First appearance in Minecraft Manhunt: Minecraft Speedrunner VS 5 Hunters

  • Gadgeteer Genius: Sam is the most knowledgeable Hunter when it comes to redstone and game mechanics, best demonstrated in "5 Hunters Finale" when Dream exploits a Good Bad Bug to trap the Ender dragon in place. Sam instantly recognizes what's happening and takes charge of the Hunters, commanding them to draw the dragon away so as to stop it perching and kill Dream as soon as possible. It doesn't end up working out since Dream has a major height advantage, but it's impressive on Sam's part nonetheless.
  • Large Ham: Unlike almost the rest of the Dream Team, averted. He's usually quite calm, except for when Dream does something unexpected.
  • Oh, Crap!: When Dream begins towering up in the end, his reaction can only be described as this.
