Colonel Armstrong Tripp

40-year-old Colonel Tripp is AAANIMUS's main adult battler, is head of a group of "enhanced human battlers, and answers directly to Philomena. He often B mines to control powerful Bakugan he finds. His partner is Haos Pandoxx. Originally part of the army, he later gets kicked out due to him getting caught in one of schemes.

  • Bald of Evil: He's evil and doesn't have a single hair on his head.
  • Bullying a Dragon: He decided to try to steal Bakugan from Shun's father who is the head of a powerful and influential company who if he decided to leave with their Bakugan will become his enemy.
  • Child Hater: He isn't exactly fond of children and finds battling them to be aggravating and demeaning.
  • Consummate Professional: He keeps his professional attitude during the job and takes it very seriously.
  • The Corrupter: He often uses his brainwashing devices in order to turn other Bakugan into violent beasts that will do his dirty work.
  • The Dragon: He is this to Philomena.
  • Evil Sounds Deep: His voice is incredibly gruff as one would expect from him.
  • Hijacking Cthulhu: He uses his brainwashing devices he attaches to other Bakugan in order to control and manipulate them.
  • Hypno Trinket: He attaches B Mines on enemy Bakugan in order to control them.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: He often leaves when he knows he's defeated in order to plan for his next battle.
  • Light 'em Up: As a Haos user, he can use Pandoxx to use powerful flashes of light.
  • Light Is Not Good: He mainly uses Haos Bakugan in his battles but doesn't have the best intentions.
  • New Job as the Plot Demands: His job changes several times throughout the series. From being a Colonel of the army, to being a memeber of AAANIMUS, to being China Riot's bodyguard and Bakugan coach.
  • No Brows: He has no visible eyebrows on his face if there were any at all.
  • Obviously Evil: His attire, name, and voice pretty much gives away that he's a villain.
  • Scary Black Man: He is a cold and serious colonel determined to control the most powerful Bakugan.
  • Spy Cam: He uses drones to spy on the Awesome Ones remotely.
  • Villain Takes an Interest: He has one for Shun's partner Bakugan. He claims his wild power should belong to him.

    Magnus Black

Magnus Black

A primary antagonist of the show and rival to Dan Kouzo, Magnus Black is AAANIMUS's strongest battler. Wielding the powerful and deadly Nillious in battle, his motivation remains a mystery to most.

  • The Ace: He is AAANIMUS's strongest battler and allies and enemies alike are impressed by his talents. He's first person in the show to evolve his Bakugan through outside means twice and is one of the few characters to defeat Golden Bakugan and fend off several opponents on his own. Though, he's a Broken Ace for reasons below.
  • Ambitionis Evil: Played with. Magnus is an anti-villain and Noble Demon at worst, but he will do anything for power and support for him and Emily: engineering crimes on AA Animus’ behalf, endangering Core Cells on Philomena’s profit goals to continue health support for Emily, collecting more Core Cell energy to power Nillous up at the cost of Tiko’s revival becoming more imminent. Though he uses that ambition to help others when he doesn’t have too.
  • Anti-Villain: His reason why he joined AAANIMUS and became their top battler is because he wanted to prove that he could do something useful in this world and hope both him and his sister have better lives due to them living as orphans in the past.
  • Ax-Crazy: He shows signs of this in the episode 10. During the race between Shun's Hydorous and his Webam, he attacks Hydorous out of nowhere, engages him in battle while Dan and Drago try to restrain and burns down the surrounding forest, laughing maniacally as the place burns.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Tiko influence made him become more psychotic.
  • Broken Ace: While Magnus is arguably the most impressive brawler and skilled in other factors (data analysis, infiltration, exploration), he has many issues. His determination to get a better life for Emily has resulted in him taking more reckless and dangerous behaviors. He routinely pushes his body beyond its natural limits in intense Bakugan battles in spite of Dan and Emily’s concerns. And not being able to battle normally has led him with an inferior complex that only gets worse when he fails.
  • Casting a Shadow: Magnus specializes in Darkus Bakugan.
  • Cast from Hit Points: Magnus 's ability to evolve his Bakugan comes at the cost of draining him physically.
  • Cool Mask: Magnus wears a royal purple half mask that coves his left eye. The mask (alongside his gauntlet) helps his body be able to brawl normally and he’s one of the most powerful and threatening brawlers in the series.
  • Cops Need the Vigilante: Justified. With the real threat of criminals using Bakugan for crimes, the regular police can’t stop them with simple guns, and even AA Animus’ security force being inexperienced, Magnus being the vigilante in Armored Alliance makes him closest to prevent illegal Bakugan usage.
  • Daddy Had a Good Reason for Abandoning You: Sibling version. In Bakugan Armored Alliance, He decide to separate himself with Emily so she will not involve anything with the Brawlers or get into troubles. Beside that, he allows her to have an happy normal life.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: He's an orphan from a war-torn part of the world with a sister suffering from a serious illness.
  • Dark Is Evil: A Darkus brawler who works for a Nebulous Evil Organization.
  • Declaration of Protection: He swore on his life to make Emily's better since they were younger, no matter what the cost. In his words:
"And what I became, I became for her."
  • Enemy Mine: He join The Awesome Ones to defeat Tiko in the end of Bakugan Battle Planet.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Emily Black is his only one person that he really care on his life.
  • Evil Sounds Deep: He's an antagonist with a very deep voice for a fourteen-year old.
  • Idiot Hair: A rather unusual aesthetic considering his character.
  • Meaningful Name: Magnus BLACK, who uses black Bakugan anyone?
  • Misery Builds Character: Having to basically be the parent in him and Emily’s lives and surviving on the streets for years has shaped Magnus’ best and worst traits. His determination for power has led him to make some drastic decisions (harming his body on numerous occasions to be one of the few non-organic brawlers to evolve, becoming possessed by Tiko after absorbing the power of a corrupted Core Cell to reach Titan/Ultra evolution, committing questionable acts of robbery and damage for Animus etc). But its also motivated him to keep going no matter how many times he fails and reaches rock bottom. Though Emily is his Morality Pet, he’s also gained much more respect for those that have suffered similarly to him, and even in the case of Dan, he saved his rival from dying into a volcano.
  • The Mole: He tried, unsuccessfully to infiltrate the Awesome Ones.
  • My Greatest Failure: Losing to Dan and Hyper Dragonoid.
  • The Rival: He's Dan's main rival, hating him out of jealous for having a bond with his Bakugan and sees him as an wall preventing him from being the strongest battler and saving his sister.
  • Street Urchin: What he and his sister were before he joined AAANIMUS.
  • Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds: His driving motivation is to find a cure for his sister's illness.

    China Riot

China Riot

China Riot

Six-year-old China Riot is the youngest of AAANIMUS's battlers, but that does not make her any less formidable. Quirky, precocious and fearsome, China wants to be the best and cutest Bakugan brawler. Her main Bakugan is Maxotaur.

  • Arch-Enemy: to Lia Venegas. Lia's continuous interference in her plans and exposing her cheating drives her upset to no end, and she constantly plots to make Lia's life more miserable with every encounter.
  • Big Guy, Little Guy: The Small girl to Maxotaur's Big guy.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Most of AAANIMUS's battlers are this, but China embodies this trope to a tee. Whether it's luring her opponents into a rigged battlefield, distracting her foe with fake tears or commanding her Bakugan to attack with a signboard, none of these are below her.
  • Enfant Terrible: She is the youngest villain in the franchise. Her despicable actions throughout the series pretty much speak for themselves.
  • Enemy Mine: She join The Awesome Ones to defeat Tiko in the end of Bakugan Battle Planet.
  • Jerkass: In the episode where Pegatrix evolves, she has her butler ransack Lia's place and steal her memory sticks to find out the secret to evolution. Did she have to destroy the sticks after she couldn't find anything? No. Did she do so anyway? Yes
  • Hypocrite: She accuses her opponents of cheating, even though she does so regularly.
  • Ojou: Super rich? Check. Lives in a huge house? Check. Lots of servants who obey her every whim? Check. Unfortunately, she isn't nice in the slightest.
  • Only in It for the Money: As it says in her bio, she is driven solely by the accumulation of money and pretty things.
  • The Smurfette Principle: She's the only female member of the new Exit team.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: In the second half of season 1, she becomes much more supportive of the heroes and shows more compassion for others such as Emily, Lia, and Magnus. By second two, she's stopped cheating and has started to treat her new Bakugan better and shows more respect to her rivals and opponents.
  • Tyke Bomb: Even though she is essentially a toddler, she is a decent battler and is good at playing mind games with her opponents, especially Lia.

    Strata the Hunter

  • Brainwashed and Crazy: He becomes this after accidentally coming into contact with Tiko's V-virus.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Strata often makes use of unconventional tactics in and out of battle to achieve his goal.
  • Confusion Fu: Not only does he use weird and unusual tactics while battling, he's one of the few characters in the show who uses Bakugan outside his main Faction.
  • Manipulative Bastard: In one episode, he manipulates the Awesome Ones into turning on each other by playing on Dan's massive ego.
  • Only in It for the Money: His primary motivation, as he himself so succinctly puts it.
Strata: Bakugan are worth money. There's tons of people who want these things.
  • Slasher Smile: His default expression.

    Kurin

Kurin

Kurin is a Darkus battler for AAANIMUS who debuts in the episode "Dawn before Dusk part 1." His main Bakugan is Garganoid and he also owns a Nobillious and a Skorporos.

  • Curb-Stomp Battle: His battle against Dan, Shun, Wynton's and Lia. At first he's the one dishing it due to being coached by AAANIMUS spies on their tactics. Once they're out of the way, however, he's on the receiving end.
  • Dark Is Evil: He's a Darkus battler, and he's dark-skinned.
  • The Mole: His mission was to spy on the Awesome Ones and gather data on their tactics.
  • Smug Snake: Acts very calm and smug during the battle with the Awesome Ones but only because he has full information about their attacks and their weaknesses.
  • Spy Cam: He uses some to observe his battle against Dan.

Philomena Dusk

The current CEO of AAANIMUS and the Big Bad of the series, Philomena's goal is to enslave the race of Bakugan, which puts her directly at odds with the Awesome Ones. Her Bakugan is Haos Apollyon.

  • Big Bad: The main villain for now at least. Until Tiko's reveal.
  • Badass Bookworm: Implied. Her bio states that she is smarter than Benton, who is a world-famous inventor. She has also done a lot of research into the Bakugan phenomenon. She is also a multimillionaire and the owner of the extremely powerful Apollyon.
