Seriously guys, its getting old

When I first read the Nupitals series of fanfics, I thought it was a good series that presented both sides of the Made Out To Be A Jerk Ass moment of Canterlot Wedding in an equal light. There was no bias, no bashing, just a story that wouldn't seem out of place in the canon story.

And then...then there's this fic.

This fic is beyond an Accusation Fic. Its an outright Hate Fic. Twilight is completely derailed into a nihilistic crybaby, the rest of the cast's attempts to apologize and their explanations are vilified to the point of strawman, and it completely exaggerates the events of part 1. Twilight was not "consumed by feelings betrayal" at the end of part 1, she was horrified at herself because she thought that, in her overreaction, she hurt the mare who helped raised her, her brother, her friends, and her beloved mentor. There is no reason for Twilight to become so bitter (dur hur...) aside from the author's blatant hatred of the rest of the cast.

Seriously people. Enough with the Canterlot Wedding Accusation Fics. It was good with Nupitals, but now they're becoming little more than biased hate fics that completely overblow the events of the first part of the season 2 finale.

Yes, Twilight's friends screwed up, but she herself screwed up by throwing a fit over the wedding, obsessing over Shining, and in general being a complete jerk throughout the episode. GET OVER IT.

I don't watch this show but before I read this review I wasn't aware we had a trope called Accusation Fic. Now I find out that on that very page the fanfic you are reviewing is basically the third in a series of various authors dealing with some plot twist in a certain episode and disagreeing on how it should have been handled.

To put things into perspective, Twilight did become excited about the wedding when she learned that Shining Armor was marrying Cadance, Twilight's old foalsitter, but only after finding out that "Cadance" wasn't herself did she stop caring. Whether she felt betrayed or horrified at herself, Twilight is one you really sympathize with in this scenario, mainly because, as Paleo Steno pointed out, she represented the audience at this point. Plus, despite how she almost gave up on herself, I'd say she persisted in the face of doubt once more when she realized she was right to be suspicious.

I can't say that Twilight obsessed over her brother after realizing "Cadance's" bad behavior. Granted, Twilight did appear obsessive over him from the beginning, but that was thrown out the window due to "Cadance's" change in behavior.

Ultimately, Twilight only APPEARED to screw up because the fake Cadance pulled a Wounded Gazelle Gambit to alienate her from the group. Furthermore, she had excuses prepared for just about everything. Granted, Twilight didn't have any proof, but that's because there was no way she could gather any in this case. Honestly, I just don't see Twilight being a jerk in "A Canterlot Wedding". If anything at all, I'd say Twilight did learn to trust her instincts in this case, and even after she started to doubt herself, she realized her instincts were correct after the truth officially came out. No Broken Aesop there, as far as I'm concerned.

In light of all this, I'm hoping to write my own story in which Twilight's peers all apologize to her one by one and even Twilight gets to have her own say in it, even warmly forgiving her peers and admitting to not being able to show any proof. I hope that will be acceptable.
