I agree, and I'm saying that AS a diehard Phineas and Ferb fan. Quite frankly, I way, why not have both Phineas and Ferb and Gravity Falls.

I agree. This show is defiantly a turn-around for Disney.
I must be honest, I don't mind Disney that much, but this is one of their w shows that I really despise (the other being Shake It Up), and I can't for the life of me figure out what everyone loves about it.

Honestly I don't even get the Fandom Rivalry between Phineas and Ferb and Gravity Falls. I like them equally and I think they're about the same level in quality. But great review and agreed 100 percent.
I love this show too~ Best random premier I ever caught! I was skeptical at first, though - for me, I think the selling point was all the sheer insanity. How the heck is this a Disney show?! Are the censors even trying anymore?! Plus, unlike most animated Disney, it actually makes me laugh. I go out of my way to see this show, like the Canadian shows that air on Family Channel(basically the Canadian version of the Disney channel, with some Canadian stuff thrown in).

What's funny is according to Alex Hirsch, not only was Disney actively looking for something like this but they've actively encouraged him to add more ciphers and complexities. I feel like "how is this a Disney show?" is exactly the reaction they're aiming for.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.
Whoa. Disney was looking for something like this? ...Well, that's a shock. All I can remember seeing of Disney shows was little kid stuff 'til this popped up... This is now my favorite show ever, no contest. And I think maybe I know where the fandom rivalry comes from after thinking about it! Two shows that take place only in summer are bound to compete, when they're the only two like that on their channel. Especially with one generally staying light and random and the other pulling out arcs and a cool, somewhat creepy plot. Not to mention city/random town in the middle of Oregon as settings.

Look, I don't like Phineas and Ferb, and nor do I hate Disney, but I still find this show overrated, and at best, average. I don't get why you have to make generalizations like that. Liking or disliking this show means nothing about you.

Although I\'m not a diehard fan of Phineas and Ferb, I do enjoy the show a lot, and I think it is an overall better series than Gravity Falls, but I don\'t understand why you have to be negative towards fans of other shows.

Gravity Falls Thus Far
This is a good show. Period. Anyone who tells you different is either a die-hard Phineas And Ferb fan or someone who really needs to get over their Disney hate. On a channel filled with nothing but shitty live-action shit, there's finally another good animated show to watch. Not only does it beat it's channel's competition, but it stands high along with other channel's great shows like Adventure Time and Regular Show, and may grow to be even better yet.
I was skeptical of this show at first, for two reasons. One, DISNEY CHANNEL... and two, it's popular with people on Tumblr, which in my opinion has become the American equivalent of 4chan. But after getting chewed out by my friends several dozen times, I decided to check it the fuck out. And lo and behold, I have discovered possibly my favorite animated show on TV. I watched the 17 available episodes... I have had a spoonful of greatness and damn, I'm hungry for more.
I won't waste time describing shit. This show has great music, great atmosphere and artwork, decent animation, an entertaining, well-rounded cast of characters (the twins, especially) and an intriguing Myth Arc building up. The comedy has yet to miss with me, it's all been consistently good, but unlike a lot of Western Cartoons, this show has some sense of character as well. Our leads, Dipper and Mabel are interesting, entertaining and a believable pair of 12-year old twins thrown into weird situations.
Dipper is what happens when you toss Dib (Invader Zim) and Naota (FLCL) in a blender and elevate him to Nice Guy status. His futile attempts to appear more mature than he is are well done, even if I've seen it before and know how this kind of thing normally ends. I could do without his Precocious Crush, because again... we all know what these things end, but it does throw a certain degree of realism into the mix. His energetic sister is a constant stream of amusement, being just so silly and fun. I usually don't like overtly girly girls but she does it with some class and a degree of self-awareness that is admirable. She feels like a twelve year old girl and that's some accomplishment. They don't bicker as often as you'd think, and when they do, it's over things most kids would fight about. A refreshing take on the sibling team concept.
I'm almost out of words, so I'll just say, GO WATCH THIS SHOW.
