Where does the sequel fall in the "Sliding Scale of Idealism vs. Cynicism" trope?

I ask because the first game on the page states as falling on the idealisic side, but it seems darker in the sequel. I don't know too much as I am a novice on the series.

Any thoughts?

Regarding the Weapons folder page, Arsenal_Gear suggested deleting it in ATT. I have no problem doing that, though I am certain not everyone feels that way.

As it stands, the folder reads too much like a character page and is sometimes filled to the brim with entries that are more detailed than several stubs in the Characters page. The moderation team has already made it clear they will not allow any Weapons page (or Character page detailing nothing but weapons in it), and this folder honestly has been the grounds for a lot of editing problems ranging from Square Peg Round Trope to Zero-Context Example.

My opinion is to completely burn the folder and scatter the relevant tropes into "A to Z", while dividing "A to Z" in smaller folders. Sure, there will no longer be flavor descriptions nor images for the Exotic weapons, but this VideoGame page was never meant to have that kind of luxury. By doing this, we will be finally closing the lid on the uneasy compromise we reached years ago and go back into the fold.

Before anyone takes action, I need the input of every troper who's invested in editing both this page and Destiny, as both pages' weapons folder are intrinsically related, and our decision here will apply for both.

Replied in PM, but summarizing for posterity - sorry, was between jobs, hence radio silence.

In my opinion, I'd delete now and filter through what can be put on the list later, especially with the new expansion coming up, but it might be best to ask ATT how to proceed one more time.

I'll consolidate all discussions towards the Wiki Talk section, to see if it helps. New thread here.

  • Crippling Overspecialization: Like all Linear Fusion Rifles, it works best against singular targets, even with the splitting beam. That said, the Sleeper deals the 2nd highest amount of damage in a single hit within the game, being only beat out by a Gunslinger's Golden Gun empowered with Celestial Nighthawk.

First, my edit reason for invalidating Simple, yet Awesome is perfectly sound. There is nothing simple or visually austere about shooting the equivalent of a Spartan Laser.

Second, Crippling Overspecialization is in misuse here, the Sleeper is good in nearly every scenario due to its refraction and overpenetration; this entry fails to explain what makes it balanced. You're really trying to scratch the bottom of the barrel when it comes to shoehorning tropes, proving my argument against creating Weapons pages.

Finally, humrh360, snappy edit reasons like yours tend to escalate until mod intervention puts an end to it. Nobody wants that.

To avoid an Edit War, pulling the entry here.

This is blatant misuse of the trope, which discusses falls that are NOT lethal.

A thought, as we know from a semi-obscure piece of lore, the Ghosts are all unique with names and genders. That said has the Dinklebot/Nolan North Ghost accompanying players ever had its gender specified? Just because it's had male voice actors doesn't bar it from perhaps being agender or otherwise.

Can we somehow link the Destiny Character page here as well? In that vein can we FINALLY add the weapons page back?

The Weapons page has been cutlisted. I suggest you bring your case to Ask The Tropers.

I moved the examples from the trailers and such from the original Destiny subpages to this one's (and started those subpages in the process). I didn't start a Characters page because Ghaul is the only new character so far (and Characters will probably eventually become a subpage to the Franchise page).
