So I'm wondering if Mumei's evil emoji icon can count as a Running Gag or meme? It comes from when she tried to paint Suisei in Passpartout, but she kinda lost track and it looked like something out of what the stream called "a sleep paralysis demon come to life." It gets spammed in her streams whenever she's being especially vicious.

Personally, I think it's more of Running Gag since the streamer was the one who introduced the joke, but it's definitely worth an entry regardless. It would be ideal if you can link to a relevant moment/clip, but identifying the stream where it originated is fine too.

edit: the general idea is that "just memes" aren't Memetic Mutation, and i suggested Running Gag since i've seen it being used as a namespace before (e.g. Vinesauce)

Many examples here aren't Running Gag either, since they must be done repeatedly, by the idols (without even excluding Meme Acknowledgment moments) and not fans, to count as one. Either they are recognizable enough to be in Memetic Mutation or they shouldn't be listed at all.

Actually, I would argue that anything that repeatedly make appearances within hololive members' streams, including chat comments, IS technically Running Gag since the idol actively & directly engages with the chat itself, meaning even those gags from fans ARE part of what we call the "work" (never mind that a lot of the time chat comments show up within the video itself, making them indisputably a part of the "work").
You're right about those entries that are not directly connected to hololive streams in any way though, those can be removed or relocated.

well, it's been a while, but Memetic Mutation finally went through the Trope Repair Shop wringer and consensus says fandom in-jokes should count as Memetic Mutation. so, to answer the OP's question, this should (retroactively) be a memes page.
Well well well... would you look at that. I'd say we merge this Running Gag page with the existing Memetic Mutation entry and move them to a Memes.hololive page for simplicity's sake. What do you think?

sounds like that would be appropriate, yeah, althogh i'd wait to see if anything else becomes of that TRS thread considering the crowner ended literally yesterday. maybe some other mods decide to overturn it (idk how that actually works, don't quote me on that)
