same. its like everything about this fic just fell off the face of the earth
I just wish someone would pick up where Skullsand Duggery left off and at least tie up the remaining loose ends! We need proper closure, dang it!
Edited by JacktheMovieFanaticSeeing as were now halfway through 2022, I dont think it's gonna happen...
Anyone else have wonder how Blue, Echo, and Delta will respond to Fuego (seeing as he's a male of their kind)?
Alrighty, I guess I'm the first one here.
Anyway, it's true that hatred is not the answer. It's a vicious cycle that only goes down.
But who here has the gall to actually blame Blake and Debra for feeling the way that they do? If we were empathetic with Elise and were able to put ourselves in her shoes and UNDERSTAND (forgive my caps lock please, I don't know how to italicize on here) why she did what she did, why is it that we can't do the same for Debra and Blake?
That aside, telling someone who is in the middle of mourning to "grow up" and empathize with the creature that's the REASON they're mourning in the first place is one of the most heartless and insensitive things that I can think of. If Blake or Debra were someone you knew, would you have the spine to say that to their faces?
Ranting aside, I truly don't mean to offend anyone. If I did, I apologize. I just got kinda frustrated when I saw reviews that were completely dismissive of what Blake and Debra were going through.
I'll debate with you since I like doing that thing, but I do agree with all that you said which is a lot of the reason as to why I actually wrote that chapter.
While I can't speak for the opposing arguers, I feel the dismissing of Blake and Debra's feelings is due to how Elise tends to treat them in the aftermath of her rampage. Owen told her once it was wrong to get violent, and Elise abides by those rules. She has flipped off Debra in response to an insult, and buried Blake when he angered her. But she never provoked them first or got violent; even when she pinned Blake she made sure not to hurt him. Elise didn't even really acknowledge Debra in the Shower Room when Love ran in there because Debra didn't try to provoke her or insult her.
What people are basically seeing is Elise has admitted her mistakes, though not to Debra or Blake, she is doing her best to abide by the new morals. She doesn't try to provoke anyone, and that's what people see. People like to judge based on actions, not others' feelings because that's what society is.
Debra and Blake, even if they're completely entitled to do so, lash out at Elise when she's just there. They are continuing that violent cycle while Elise tries to avoid it, and that's what makes it harder to empathize with them.
I believe that's why people struggle with empathizing with Blake and Debra, not because they didn't suffer losses, but because they don't try to at least avoid insults; they lash out. I would too if I was in their shoes, but that would still make me the lesser person. Because that's not ending the violent cycle, it's continuing it.
That's the problem, though. Expecting someone in that sort of situation to behave even remotely maturely is incredibly unrealistic. Btw, kudos to you for writing such life-like reactions to Elise's rampage.
That being said, I completely understand why the average reader would have a difficult time empathizing with Debra or Blake.
Well, it is a knee-jerk reaction when it comes to grief. Everyone deals with it differently, and everyone doesn't get upset by the same thing.
I've lost animals to other animals that get dumped on our property. I was mad at that animal even though I knew it didn't know better, and I'm still mad at that animal for killing my own. I didn't forgive the animal, and I certainly don't expect Blake or Debra to do the same.
That being said, I highly doubt any conflict between them will be touched on, let alone resolved, until the topic gets brought up between Elise and Debra and Blake without others to interfere with the conversation. I have no idea if peace will be attained, I doubt it, but who knows?
I feel like that would be a side-story as opposed to the major firestorm you're building up with Bridges and Carnifex.

Edited by JacktheMovieFanaticis everyone ok on this fic? is Skullsand Duggery dead or is this just a dead fic? I feel like I'm missing something very obvious but no one is able to answer me and I really am concerned about the whole "fanfic author is dead and no one realizes it" thing
Hide / Show RepliesOk but seriously does anyone know if the author of this fic is physically ok?
so there's a few mentions of some tied in one-shots like of the heartwarming page, but I haven't been able to find it. is the their mistake or mine?
Pretty self-explanatory. While there's plenty of foreshadowing that Owen is genetically Elise's father, it would be cool if it turns out its Claire's DNA, seeing as this fits nicely into Karen telling her how she'll know how she feels when she's a mother.

So this here is a place where you can discuss whatever Elise reacts to and what you think her reactions will be! I saw a lot of reviews that wanted her to see a movie, etc etc (and I'm guilty of having sent such a request too), so here you go! Skulls, feel free to use 'em if you want! To start it off, here's my react!
Elise reacts to: Shingeki no Kyojin/Attack on Titan
- She finds herself very relatable to the main character due to his frustration of being kept in walls like livestock, and also for being a freak with monstrous powers who's openly hated by many people, but also has many loyal friends he can count on. Elise is also fascinated by the concept of deserts, oceans and volcanoes, and openly ponders whether she is trapped on Isla Nublar as well and her secret desire to see these wonders of the outside world too. She greatly admires the Survey Corps for their selfless bravery to venture outside the Walls, which she perceives as freedom, and face the Titans (which she finds immensely unsettling). All it takes is 25 minutes of a pilot episode to get her permanently hooked on the show, thanks to its Establishing Series Moment ending and that epic music.. She is absolutely furious and hates Annie after she betrays her 'pack'- especially after doing the things she did. Pack should never betray pack, she thought.
Elise reacts to Atomic Robo, because I could see her empathizing with Robo himself. Heck, I half want a crossover between this fanfic and the comic, because that would be fricking awesome. Especially if Robo got to chew out Dr. Wu for being so fraking irresponsible with science
BTW, we have a forum thread for Jurassic Park franchise-based fanfiction here.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Because he has no human DNA.
Bridges just imagined him talking because he's a schizophrenic.
1) Sobek escapes and causes a mass panic, only to be quickly taken down by Elise due to his old age. Enraged, Bridges will do everything he can to destroy Elise and Jurassic World (and Claire for breaking her promise to keep Sobek safe).
2) Somehow, Carnifex makes it onto Jurassic World and everything spirals into chaos. This ties into the first theory, because there's absolutely no way Carnifex would make it onto Jurassic World without Bridges' help.
I'll probably get more theories with later chapters,
Well, while I think a final battle would be cool, in reality it would have very serious repercussions for everyone involved. Elise won't be quite the innocent little girl she is anymore (this is after her lessons in morality), especially if she's the one to land the killing blow. Jurassic World would once again face serious financial consequences, and what of civilians caught in the middle? The investors would run for the escape pods if another security breach involving a giant carnivore happens again so soon after the first, and the park will have very, very bleak chances of reopening in the future. Reality Ensues, after all.
That being said, a final battle would still be cool XD
I like gaming. And writing. And procrastinating. So while this may not have much to do with the fanfic in question, the sections involving the new In Gen labs on Isla Sorna got me curious. So, if Isla Sorna were to be a world we could explore, how would it be like?
The way I see it, the south is mainly temperate coniferous forest, while the north is tropical jungle, but I feel like we can expand upon it for this story (hope you're seeing this, Skulls!)
So, first things first, Sorna is probably a lot bigger than Nublar, so there's room for a variety of micro-environments; canyons, gorges, valleys, caves, grasslands, etc etc. The In Gen worker village is in the south, while the old production labs is in the north. So is there a possibility of a very mountainous environment in the centre, complete with occasional snow?
I like gaming. And writing. And procrastinating.Well, the Jurassic Park novel I bought is a special edition that came with a map of Isla Sorna in it.
A river starts at the very north of it before winding down through the center of the valley that takes up most of the west of this island. The river continues to follow the shape of the island as it goes south before emptying into the ocean on the southeast corner of the island.
In the book, the old raptor nest has been replaced by the new labs in this fanfic. Now, the east side is much more complex with the old ruins, thick forests, and the Rex nest before Bridges captured them. The center of the island does have a mountain range though it's not very long.
There are cave systems marked on the map; along the southeast coast of the island.
Edited by SkullsandDuggeryBut I assumed it was the movie canon island we were talking about, right? The book canon and movie canon are very different, and the movie Isla Sorna is far larger than both the book and Nublar in both versions.
But anyways, with the village to the south and the labs to the north, and assuming we're talking about the movie canon, there's a lot of land to get though, not to mention dangerous, growing carnivores. So is there somehow a way for the workers to travel between the man-made locations on the island via train, monorail? It seems like a possibility to me. And what other possible locations are there? I've thought about a radio tower on the (snow-capped?) mountains.
(This is completely fanon, but how about old Cold War-era facilities still dotted through the island. I'm interested in making up a complete history of Isla Sorna.)

I feel pained knowing we may never get a resolution to Tacet and Elise's relationship, especially with how it ended off on as the story is.
