Under "Politically Incorrect Villain" for Simm's Master, it mentions that he suggest Lucy "get to know" one of his masseuses. I Do not recall this from any of my viewings of the episodes. Can someone explain when he says this?
Once again, we have several references to Delgado been the thirteenth Master, as well as a claim that "Word of God" has confirmed it. I've never heard of this being officially confirmed anywhere - is there any solid reason to assume he's not, say, the seventh, and he spend the intervening time using up all his other lives?
Why was Missy's main picture changed? I don't have a problem with it, I'm just curious.
Does Missy truly count as Affably Evil? Her negative attitude and actions seem to lessen the "good" ones.
Let me explain:
- Is courteous to the Half-Face Man when she meets him, apologizing for how "mean" her "boyfriend", the Doctor, could be. She was going to manipulate him into deleting his emotions!
- She tells Doctor Chang that she's always going to keep a picture of him looking "so sweet", always, before killing him so he can't get in the way of her Evil Plan. She says that she even "feels a bit emotional" about it afterwards. I'm pretty sure she was mocking him and killed him because he was useless to her now.
- She encourages Osgood to be more confident in herself in "Death in Heaven", before murdering Osgood for the hell of it. She grinds her glasses into the floor with her heel! I'm pretty sure a true Affably Evil villain wouldn't have done that!
- Her entire plan in series 8 turned out to just be an attempt to repair her friendship with the Doctor, in her own Ax-Crazy way. She was trying to corrupt him! Not to mention that plenty of his dead friends and allies (i.e. Amy and Rory, the Brigadier) were either in the army or most likely a part of it!
Not to mention she vaporizes two UNIT agents - one with a wife and children - just to prove she's not good! I don't think an Affably Evil villain would do that! And for no reason other than petty jealousy, she tries to trick the Doctor into killing Clara when she's stuck in a Dalek casing! And she lied about Gallifrey's co-ordinates because she wanted to be a jerk for no reason other than to get the last laugh! And she killed Seb because he was annoying her, yet another thing an Affably Evil villain probably wouldn't do!
Do you see my point? Thus, I think she counts more as Faux Affably Evil, then just Affably Evil.
Edited by beeruckzIIShould we add a "Kick the Dog" trope under the "General" folder for all the Masters puppy punting moments?
Hide / Show RepliesGo for it.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Okay. :) I'll need help though, since I've only seen the revived series.
Why don't we have the Masters from other media on this page?
Edited by 86.148.89.40 Hide / Show RepliesExtended Universe characters/versions of characters are found on other pages (i.e. this page for the Big Finish audios).
Edited by 124.170.225.100Um...can someone please explain to me where the notion of the Roger Delgado Master being the Thirteenth incarnation came from? Because I'm fairly sure that in the main universe of Doctor Who, that was never stated. He came into his burnt body by burning through his regenerations, not by being the last one.
The statement at how he came to be into his burnt form also doesn't make sense by being from an extended universe novel, which hasn't (as far as I know) been stated to be completely in-canon.
Hide / Show RepliesAh, sorry. I added it based on the Doctor Who wiki, which lists Delgado under "Thirteenth Incarnation". As far as I can tell, the closest thing to evidence to support this claim is this line from the Master in The Keeper of Traken: "I am now nearing the end of my twelfth regeneration." And that's probably not enough proof to change the name.
I edited the entry to note it, but otherwise the first Master we see is the Delgado Master; if anything Ainley's the thirteenth. I appreciate what you were going for, but I don't think it's a good idea to count on the TARDIS wiki too closely. Unless otherwise stated that they work together, I don't mix the canons of the various mediums and their storylines...which the wiki unfortunately does. It gets very confusing, very quick.
Edited by 24.71.234.24Okay, so, I have a question; Delgado's Master is, once again, listed as the Thirteenth incarnation, and that "Word of God" says he was the thirteenth incarnation. Could someone point out what "God" that word is from? A show-runner I'd presume, although knowing where that info comes from would be very helpful. I have nothing against Delgado being listed as the thirteenth incarnation, so long as it's actually, well, true.
Apparently, there have been official statements (such as Doctor Who Magazine 480) that have stated Delgado and Pratt/Beavers' Masters are separate incarnations. I'm going to change the main page in a bit if nobody can volunteer the source of Delgado's Master being the Thirteenth incarnation.
"Legacy of the Daleks" claims that Pratt is a degeneration of Delgado caused by Susan using his TCI and some TARDIS mind trick
Yes, but that is not only an extended universe story, it also runs very much against Big Finish's Eighth Doctor audios, which depict Susan as having aged, having an actual biological son with her husband David, and David died in an unrelated incident. I appreciate Big Finish is also by and large extended universe, but as of Night of the Doctor, the company's works have been made more or less canon. Meanwhile, several other sources, such as Doctor Who Magazine and interviews with others, have outright stated that the Delgado Master is not the thirteenth incarnation. Furthermore, apply logic to this: if he was on his last legs, why only wait until the Beavers/Pratt incarnation for him to be looking to steal more regenerations or extend his life by stealing other bodies? What conceivable reason would there be for him to wait until he was at death's door to do that work?

This forum has a number of different posts on the matter (admittedly some are by me), but this post in general is one pretty firm one on the subject. As further proof, read below in the official BBC page for the Master; he's mentioned as reaching the end of his regeneration cycle by the Deadly Assassin, as in he had ones to spare before that.

There's a comment under the O Master' Race Lift entry that Roger Delgado was mixed-race but passed for white. His Wikipedia page says his mother was Belgian and his father was Spanish. So, he was European-European? Or are they referring to the fact that he was Jewish and went to synagogue regularly?
