Though, it could be said that the "work" it applies to is the Source Engine itself. Listing all of these games separately would probably be redundant, but excluding them would be a waste because they do have valid examples of the trope.

I don't think this is "general", it's several specific examples grouped together because, as Zuxtron said, listing them each separately would be redundant.

An argument could be made for it being general, since it can be interpreted as being about several separate games from different series at once. But they could also be seen as being connected under the Source Engine. Eh, I think I'll add it anyway, arguing that the Source Engine is the "work" the example is describing, and the games listed are just for example.

Yeah, that's a good point. It depends on what you consider the example to be about.

I think you should still be able to add it, since the Source engine is the "work". It's comparable to saying multiple games in a series feature a trope.
