I don't think this is true, though? I haven't seen one confused with the other or both at once, maybe there was one time but I disagree with this being a problem that'd need a project.

General Zaroff is stated to start off genuine but than turn to faux. Same with Dracula. Many really evil and monstrous characters have been labeled AE when they are faux at best. Many chatacters later deemed C Ms were once labeled AE.

I mean, there was certainly confusion back when Faux Affably Evil was called "Evilly Affable". I don't know how much of that has stuck around since the rename — theoretically any misuse caused by the old name would've been removed during the rewicking process, but I know from experience that that doesn't always actually happen.

Lots of tropes get condtantly misused. Famous Last Words states it's only for meaningful last words rather than listing any last words a character says, but clearly the latter is done instead. Anyway, I started it here: with this link.
