Oh no, the prequel revealed that our character was a Complete Monster all along!

That situation may be complicated, and should probably discussed with examples in mind.

Alright. The reason I asked this was because of Ridley from the Metroid series. The first thing he did that could be considered a MEH production-wise was raiding a space station and killing everyone on it. However, this example was removed from YMMV.Super Metroid by Tropers.Tanta Monty, and their reasoning is that he did something much worse (slaughtering an entire colony) in a prequel manga that came out eight years later.

Here I am causing problems again... When I read the definition of MEH I immediately understood it referred to the point in the narrative that marks the character's descent into true monstrosity (the trope is defined as the "first demonstration of permanent evil"). Of course, if the trope actually refers to the moment when the audience first identifies a character as a monster, I would be happy to restore the entries I deleted.

I can answer right now: no clue.

Seriously, there's been so much debate lately about what should and shouldn't qualify, I have no idea anymore.

Honestly, since it's already The Same, but More to Kick the Dog that may vary between audiences despite it being limited to one event per character per continuity, I've been contemplating the idea of making Moral Event Horizon a definition-only page and saying "any applicable examples can be found on Kick the Dog".

Moral Event Horizon borders so much on being a trope of legend I'm firmly against doing anything that drastic.

Just so you guys know, I made a thread about the trope. Maybe we should discuss there.
