If there's a book you want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it. Toni MorrisonYou mean like faking a phone call to get out of a bad date?
I think it means "impersonate your friend on a date so he can do something else".
^The closest one I can think of is I Have to Wash My Hair, but that's about making a lame excuse in order to turn someone down.

If there's a book you want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it. Toni MorrisonHave you seen this more than once? If it's not overly common on its own, I'd be tempted to trope it as a subversion/inversion of Two-Timer Date.
Edited by UnsungIf this isn't already a trope, it definitely should be. Final Fantasy Tactics A2 has a mission where you have to impersonate your client because he's scheduled dates with several women at once. GeGeGe no Kitarō has an episode where a yokai asks Kitaro to impersonate him towards the human he's been corresponding with, because he's afraid that his monstrous appearance will scare the human.
I'd call that a G-Rated Bed Trick.
^ But that’s without the one impresionated knowing...

If there's a book you want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it. Toni MorrisonTropes Are Flexible. I think a G-Rated Bed Trick is a pretty good fit, maybe overlapping with a downplayed Emergency Impersonation. This doesn't seem like a common enough thing that you're going to find an exact match.
I agree with Unsung. The Bed Trick version should work just fine even if the impersonated agrees to it — I don't think the trope forbids that. Emergency Impersonation is probably more what you're looking for, though. It evens references Two-Timer Date in the trope description when talking about someone needing to be in two places at once.
^Alright, Emergency Impersonation is it.

Exactly What It Says on the Tin. It’s not Two-Timer Date, I’ve checked it.
