out-of-universe Analogy Backfire
I'd go with Broken Aesop for the idea, but worth noting that your specific example isn't broken: drugs do often have desirable effects along with the deleterious ones (hence why people take them in the first place), addictions can't be cured (only reduced with time and abstinence), and the withdraw from many drugs can kill a heavy user who goes cold-turkey.
Is there an equivalent of Broken Aesop, but for metaphores? Like, in a show where vampirism is supposed to be analogous to drug addiction, but vampires can't be cured, need to drink blood or they'll die, have super strength, etc?
