Cheap Heat would apply if its used as Trash Talk by other people (Say, bringing up that someone's from Atlantic City at a match in New York City.)
It has, though only once in that context. Usually the hate is completely passive, which is why I didn't think that such an actively-invoked trope would apply, but it just might work for what I need. The ring announcer invokes it for him. Thank you!
Edited by RavenBlackI don't think we have a more general trope for "hated for your hometown/country", though. Like, actual prejudice and such.
We can never truly eradicate the coronavirus, but we can suppress its threat like influenzaI think the nearest we have is a deconstructed Evil Foreigner
TV Tropes's No. 1 bread themed lesbian. she/her, fae/faerCan't be Evil Foreigner if it's the same country, right?
We have a trope for people who are hated in their hometown. We have a trope for people who hate their hometown. Do we have a trope for people who are hated by other people for their hometown?
Reason I ask is that I've been working on a Professional Wrestling-related character page and I just added a character who that hypothetical trope would apply to. He just gets booed every time his hometown is mentioned. He doesn't actively flaunt his connection to his hometown, so Cheap Heat doesn't apply.
(Accidentally put this under the wrong category, yeesh me.)
