Would be a subtrope of Not What It Looks Like. I too have seen this before, and I'm not sure we have it.

Okay, so, imagination time:
Two or more characters are caught doing something they can't, or won't, explain. It could be because of sexual reasons or it could be to keep up The Masquerade. Whatever. So they can't explain it and they need an excuse. The obvious answer? Pretend it's a play rehearsal.
I can think of at least three examples of this and I'm sure there's more which means that I'm sure it's a trope on here.
