Yes, we should. Catch-all categories like Web Original are bad.

Okay, I can understand the point, especially since lots of things that end up in "Web Original" aren't that original and more fan works. However, we'd need to define a bit clearly what folders should be split from it, because there's potentially a lot:

  • Blogs
  • Let's Play
  • Podcasts
  • Roleplay
  • Web Animation
  • Web Videos

And I think we'd still need a "Web Original" anyway for original fictions, other websites, wikis, etc.

Just as a reminder, "New Media" as a folder is depreciated, right? Most of its content goes to Web Original already...

I had forgotten about Media Categories. So, use that as a reference.

Some of these categories look a tad dated to me. "Other Sites" is frankly problematic a title and should be "Websites". "Myths & Religion" are generally together on most pages. And there's a few other media that ought to be added, like "Arts" or "Theme Parks".

Agreed, but I haven't seen anyone try to start a discussion about expanding those folder categories.

Okay, keeping its own folder is seems like a fine option. Then for consistency sake any thoughts on what it should be called. Personally I think it should be Roleplay, perhaps making a main page and/or a namespace like videogames or literature since there is three different lists that capture these currently. Once we have a standard I don't mind fixing pages as I come across them.

I'm fine with "Roleplay" as a folder title. It is, after all, the namespace name used for this media.
