Character pages are a continuation of the work page. It's redundant to have the same trope/example listed twice on a page.

However, if a trope applies to a character, it should go on the character page, not the main page. So whoever reverted your edits went the wrong way around.

The edit reason given is "This is a story trope and already has an example on the main page."

To debate character/story, it should be taken to discussion.

What about a character trope that applies to multiple characters in a work (example: Semi-Divine)? Should that be on the main page, with multiple bullets below, or only on the characters page, with a different entry for each character?

It should be on the character page multiple times.
